A fake date with the hottest man she’s ever seen—what could go wrong?
Tara’s ex-husband is a cheating dirtbag, but when he hits an all-time high on the douche-meter and invites her to his wedding, she can’t stomach the idea of showing up sans date. Everyone already thinks she’s a loser—why prove them right? Over a few too many margaritas, Tara hatches a brilliant scheme to show up with the hottest man she can find on her arm. She can make her ex jealous, show everyone she’s moved on then part ways with her fake-date. No fuss, no muss. What could possibly go wrong?
Unfortunately, her fake-boyfriend Chris turns out to be more than just a ridiculously pretty face. The man is hot enough to melt the panties off a saint, and when she discovers his humor—and the mind-blowing sex he offers—she starts playing jump rope with the line between real and fake.
What started out as an easy way to make her ex jealous quickly turns messy as Tara starts to catch some very real feelings. Will she try to transform the fake relationship into something real, or will she throw in the towel and accept it was all make-believe?
Jayce Carter lives in Southern California with her husband and two spawns. She originally wanted to take over the world but realized that would require wearing pants. This led her to choosing writing, a completely pants-free occupation. She has a fear of heights yet rock climbs for fun and enjoys making up excuses for not going out and socializing.
Tara's lyin' cheatin' sack of crap ex-husband invites her to his wedding. The wedding to the woman he was cheating with while married to Tara. Her sister-in-law hooks her up with her brother's best friend - a real hottie, who happens to need someone to meet his mother so she'll stop trying to set him up. This book is as cute as the blurb. Tara has body image issues stemming from the ex, but Chris sees her as having ample curves. Unfortunately, Chris doesn't always think before he opens his mouth, and hurts Tara's feelings more than once. This is my first read from this author, and I'm looking forward to more.

The book is a good sweet romantic comedy read and its the first book in this series. Tara scores a fake date with Chris who happens to be the hottest man she’s ever seen and she thinks what could possibly go wrong. When her ex-husband invites her to his upcoming wedding she can't stomach the thought of showing up alone. Everyone already thinks she’s a loser and she doesn't want to prove them wright and she comes up with a plan to find the hottest man that she can find. Chris happens to be than just a pretty face, and he has a great sense of humor. The idea of what fake and real starts to become a blur for Tara and she doesn't know what to do in this situation.

What a nice read overall but I must admit I did cry a bit during this story. It was sad to read about the negative conditioning the main female character experiences at the hands (mouth) of her ex-husband. Perhaps this tale hit a little too close to home for me but by no means is this meant negatively; this is a good story. I thoroughly the main female character's inner dialogue ... if the world only knew what we all bounce around in our heads without ever verbalizing these thoughts, eh.

Fake It 'til You Make It had it's moments of humor, but Tara was way too negative for me. I get that she was dealing with an abusive ex that was constantly putting her down, but she also set herself up for it so many times. She was trying to show the ex she was able to get the hot guy, but that still didn't say anything good about her character. Chris was never fully developed as a character other than being a well off, hot bachelor that liked bigger girls. The story has been done before and unfortunately the characters didn't make the book stand out.

Tara needs more confidence. I enjoy that she finally was able to let go of her insecurity and see that she was worth way more than what she believes. I like Chris but I wish he would help Tara understand even more that she is beautiful and that she does not need to keep putting herself down. The story is easy to read and enjoyable. I love Gena and Kathy and even Hannah. I love that Tara has such a supportive brother in Patrick.

Fake It 'til You Make It is the first book in the Ready or Not series and is a great start to this new series.
I really enjoyed reading this romantic comedy. The characters are likable and relatable. The storyline is well written and enjoyable, with humour, chemistry, and a fake romance. Will Chris be able to let Tara go or will he make her his?
When "What can go wrong?" is right in the blurb you knows its going to be filled with humor and hiccups. This is a sweet fake relationship romance that is well written and has amazing characters. This is a fun read that I hope Jayce Carter writes more like this story!

This book while good was hard for me to read. How the FMC was so hard on herself and beat down by her ex made me so sad. I just don’t understand how people can treat other people that way. I know it happens but it’s still hard. It was nice to see her finally stand up for herself.
I absolutely love this book. The humor had me putting the book down to wipe my eyes from laughing. You’ll fall in love with the characters. And by my favorite author!! You gotta read this.
Lovely, quick read. Tara has no confidence after her ex-husband's treatment of her. Chris is single and needs someone to bring to his mother, while she needs a date to her ex's wedding. Though both say it will mean nothing, becomes a HEA.
A pretty good read. But man my heart for this fmc. Reading someone like me? Wow. And she’s gets her hea? The characters were awesome and the writing really good.
