I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

While the format isn't quite what I expected, it is something I can greatly appreciate. This would could (will be) a great resource for Pastors and Ministers, Sunday School teachers, and Bible Study leaders who use quotes to support the points of their sermons or lessons. It would also be useful in personal Bible study for those who desire to grow closer in the walk with Jesus Christ and learn more about who He is.

First sentence: Why a book of great thoughts and quotations about Jesus?

It's All About Jesus: A Treasury of Insights on Our Savior, Lord, and Friend is long story short a book of quotes. Now quote books can vary in quality, I won't lie. There are some quote books that are super-cheesy and a waste of paper. There are some quote books that are worth reading--or skimming--once, but really they're a good re-gifting possibility in an emergency.

But this book isn't like that. Why?! Because these are not only good quotes about Jesus, not only true quotes about Jesus, these are some of the best of the best of the best quotes about Jesus by some truly outstanding theologians, preachers, writers, and the odd celebrity or two.

Here are the reasons why I loved, loved, loved this book.

1) It is well-organized and has a great flow. The book has four main sections and many, many, many subsections. Part 1 declares who Jesus is—his nature, attributes, and characteristics. Part 2 speaks of his transforming life, death, resurrection, return, and reign. Part 3 explores the many powerful names and titles of Jesus. Part 4 centers on Jesus in his beautiful relationships with his people.

2) Each section (subsection) begins with key scriptures. The book values quotes from others--theologians, pastors, preachers, authors, famous folk, etc. But above all it values Scripture as the Word of God. Randy Alcorn even encourages readers NOT to skip the Scriptures.

3) I love the SELECTION and variety. It's like contemporary believers are joining in with the cloud of witnesses and exalting the Lord Jesus Christ. Or is it exulting?! Maybe both. Reading a handful of quotes all together all on the same subject/theme--all centered on who Christ is or who we are in Christ--is a blessing.

4) Reading the book leads to worship. This book is a feast for those who love Jesus Christ and want to know him More, love Him better, have their faith go deeper.

If you're only so-so about Jesus, then maybe the book won't be anything but a waste of paper--to you. But maybe just maybe the Spirit will use this book to bring you closer to the One who died to save you. Maybe just maybe the Spirit will use this book to rekindle your heart and restore your first love.

He is the fountain of all truth, but He is more—He is truth itself. He is the source and strength of all beauty, but He is more—He is beauty itself. He is the fountain of all wisdom, but He is more—He is wisdom itself. In Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden away!… He is the fountain of love, but again, He is far more than that—He is love! A.W. Tozer

The truth is, God doesn’t grade on a curve; he grades on a cross. Jefferson Bethke

There is more mercy in Christ than sin in us. Richard Sibbes

Live nearer to Christ than to any person on this earth; so that when they are taken, you may have Him to love and lean upon. Robert Murray M’Cheyne

Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world. C.S. Lewis

Until you see the cross as that which is done by you, you will never appreciate that it is done for you. John Scott

We write Jesus’ name upon our banner, for it is hell’s terror, heaven’s delight and earth’s hope. Charles Spurgeon

The true gospel is radically exclusive. Jesus is not a way; He is the way, and all other ways are no way at all. If Christianity would only move one small step toward a more tolerant ecumenicalism and exchange the definite article the for the indefinite article a, the scandal would be over, and the world and Christian‑ ity could become friends. However, whenever this occurs, Christianity ceases to be Christianity, Christ is denied, and the world is without a Savior. Paul Washer

It’s All About Jesus is a Christology by author Randy Alcorn.

It’s All About Jesus has four sections all about Jesus.

(1) The Nature and Attributes of Jesus

(2) The Birth, Life, Resurrection, Return, and Reign of Christ

(3) The Names and Titles of Jesus

(4) Jesus, in and with his Disciples

It’s all about Jesus is full of quotes and thoughts about Jesus as well as scripture verses.

There is so much to learn about Jesus and we can never know it all. But, I appreciate how It’s All About Jesus has encouraging and insightful quotes making me want to know more.

I would recommend It’s All About Jesus to Believers, Seekers, and non-Believers.

If you like quotes then you will love this book. The author put together thousands of quotes from well known people on different aspects about the person of Jesus. I am going to read it a second time I appreciated it so much. Not something to speed through but to savor a little each day like a wine tester.

This new book It’s All About Jesus: A Treasury of Insights on Our Savior, Lord, and Friend by Randy Alcorn is one everyone should get their hands one, believers and nonbelievers. This book focuses only on Jesus, and nothing else. Every Scripture shared, every quote shared relates to Jesus.
In the introduction of this book, author Randy Alcorn shares the purpose of this book and why he compiled it. Which is worth the read before you read the book.
The book is divided into four parts: Part 1 is about who Jesus, by his nature, attributes, and characteristics. Part 2 is about the transforming life, death, resurrection, return, and reign of Jesus. Part 3 goes into the many names and titles of Jesus. The final part centers on Jesus and his relationship with his people.
Some side notes to be aware of that he provides this book is only a drop in the ocean of what has been said about Jesus. Also some of the quotes he shares in the book may not be or is a Jesus follower, but non-the-less they were included because this shows that Jesus was still recognized even by those that do not believe.
This is one of those books you will want the hard copy in. I have been reading in an advanced kindle edition. This book reads like a commonplace journal. If you don’t know what that is, it where readers use a notebook to jot down notes from things they read or experience. Each section starts with a title of a subject related to Jesus, a few Scriptures that relate to it, followed by quotes from well-known theologians, famous people from history, book authors, and few other sources, that relate to the subject and Scripture, while keeping the entire focus on Jesus.
This book is in my top ten books I have read, one that I will be purchasing the hard copy in for myself and gifting to others. It would make the perfect gift-giving book and one to keep out on top of your living room table or desk to pick up and read whenever. This is not a book to sit down and read through, but to be savored, to ponder on.

John Piper said, "Books don't change people, paragraphs do -- sometimes sentences." I agree. Books like this one are so powerful. It's a compilation of quotes from well-known Bible scholars and teachers about who Jesus is, his life, his names and titles. If you want to get to know Jesus more, read this book.

Some of the quotes made me look at something in a way I'd never considered before. I found some quotes that talked about Jesus being the "happiest being in the universe" (Location 585). Spurgeon was quoted, "We are happy to think Christ is happy. I do not know whether you have ever drank that joy, Believer, but I have found it a very sweet joy to be joyful because Christ is joyful" (location 594). I had never thought about what impact that should have on my life. It's also not the way I often think of Jesus. This book had many such quotes that challenged perceptions I didn't even know I had.

This is a book that I will savor. It's a book that gives you lots to think about and meditate on. It gave me a deeper appreciation for my Savior and all that He is and has done. I'd highly recommend it.

Thank you to Harvest House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book by well-known author Randy Alcorn is a collection of impactful and insightful comments and quotes by various people throughout history on the Person of Jesus Christ. Jesus of Nazareth is the most important person who has ever lived, and as such, Alcorn argues, it is important that we understand who Jesus was and is, and why He has had the effect on the world that He has had.

Using a mixture of pertinent Scripture passages and numerous quotes from both Christians and famous people throughout history, Alcorn examines important aspects of Jesus in four categories: (1) The nature, attributes and characteristics of Jesus as fully God and fully human; (2) The life and ministry of Jesus on earth; (3) The names and titles of Jesus; and (4) What Jesus taught and how He interacted with His disciples.

In this 300-page book, the reader will find perhaps one of the best collections in one place of the comments and quotations of both the famous and the believers in God on the unique person and life of Jesus. Highly recommended!

It's All About Jesus by Randy Alcorn is a helpful book with quotes and Bible verses listed in a wonderfully organized manner that help the reader see Jesus in a variety of ways--His humanity as well as His omnipotence. This is a reference book, so don't expect to read it in the same manner as you would a typical work of non-fiction or fiction. Personally, I think it works better as an actual book because it's a reference book. For me, I like to be able to skim through a reference book to find what I'm looking for. Of course, with it being digital (the version I read), there is always the search feature that is available when searching for a specific reference, so a digital version is also pretty amazing for such a book. As always, Randy Alcorn has thoroughly done his homework.

I received a copy of It's All About Jesus by Randy Alcorn from NetGalley to read and review. I have not been paid for this service. :)

When I saw the cover and author of this book, I knew I wanted to read it and enjoy an easier theological read as I eased my way into summer. The format of this book was certainly not what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Each section focused on a different attribute of Jesus' character: who He is, His life, His names and His relationships with us. It is a beautiful collection of quotes, insights and observations about Jesus and allows you to reflect on the Savior in a new, fresh way. It leads you to worship. It leads you to ponder. It leads you to wonder. And for that, I am thankful to Alcorn and his treasury of insights leading us to step back, acknowledge + agree, it really is all about Jesus.

Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book was not what I expected. Because it is pages and pages of quotes, I think that the format is wrong. It could be rewritten as a daily devotional book for a set amount of time (4 months?). I found it difficult to just sit and read through the quotes and decided it might be best if I just picked it up on some type of schedule because the quotes seemed less compelling without time to pause and reflect. I also think it would have been helpful to have a place for the reader to write down personal reflection and quotes at the end of section. Not a favorite even though I wanted it to be special.

In the book It's All About Jesus, author and pastor Randy Alcorn, writes quotes and insights about Jesus. Alcorn quotes Kevin DeYoung: “Just about everybody in America likes Jesus, but few like him for who he truly is.”
I enjoyed some of the quotes but this feels more like a quote book than something you would want to sit down and just read. I was disappointed not in the content but in the delivery. Maybe it would be better as shorter chapters and set up like a devotional.
I would recommend this book as a resource for quotes. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Quotes organized according to the author's chosen categories. The point seems mostly to be that there are lots of thoughts on Jesus across many cultures. The book might make an okay reference, but you'll still need to track down citation details (as the author freely states in the intro) if you want to use them in some other work.

It wasn’t the format I expected (it’s a collection of Scripture and quotes instead of a narrative style book) but I still loved going through it. I regularly found myself wanting to sit in portions and give thanks for Jesus and who he is. We serve and are loved by a magnificent Savior!

I picked this up on Clearance at Hobby Lobby. I learned quite a bit about Jesus Christ and his ministry from the quotations of a wide variety of people. Each chapter told more about Jesus, his life and his ministry. There were many AHA moments. Everyone should read this!
