Lydia Mitchell has been nothing but a burden her entire life. The only thing she seems capable of is making bad choices. Her latest mess? Having an affair with her boss, the District Attorney.
Now, she’s jobless and labeled a gold-digger. She’s the most hated person. She’s the other woman.
Even her ever-loving sister has given up on her.
But Lydia doesn’t care if no one is on her side. She doesn’t need anyone. What’s the point of letting anyone in when everyone she has ever loved only ended up disappearing from her life?
Then there’s Dave Allen.
She hasn’t always gotten along with the detective, but he has seen the worst of her and he’s still here—for now.
Lydia can’t forget that. It is just a matter of time before she messes up and sends Dave running out of her life.
After all, that’s who she is. The one who is never good enough. The one who only knows how to mess things up. Who could ever love someone like her?
Messing up is book 6 of the Ghost Of The Past series.

Maybe the Best of the Series! Absolutely FABULOUS book! Messing Up just might be the best book in the fantastic Ghost of the Past series. And I love every single story in this amazing 6 book series. I’ve read them MULTIPLE times!!! Lydia was such a frustrating character. In Messing Up you finally get to see why she is the way she is. And Dave is the perfect hero, because what everyone else calls ‘personality flaws’-that’s what he loves about Lydia. Such a beautiful romance *Happy Sigh! Quite possibly the best part of Dave romancing Lydia is when he is courting her back to Christ, to God’s boundless love and forgiveness. Did I mention that it has a awesome ending? This book is just perfect in every way!
I absolutely loved this book! Although it wasn’t as suspense filled as the others in the series, it was still great.
I finally understood the tension behind the relationship between Kate and Lydia, and I was so glad that they finally sorted their issues out.
At first, when reading the other books, I wasn’t sure whether Trisha would pair Lydia with Ben or Dave – getting to know Dave in this book, I’m glad she paired Lydia with him! He is perfect for her, and is definitely the right person to handle her stubbornness!
This was a great end to the series. I’m glad all the characters got their happily ever afters - I was especially happy for Evelyn.
The best series of books I’ve read in a long time!
I loved each and every book in this six series set. I got book one free and was glued to it from the beginning. As soon as i had read it I had no choice but to move on to book two - then three - and so it goes to the end of book six! I’m sad it’s done and over but happy they can all live their lives out quietly now that we’ve had a chance to hear their stories. I’m looking forward to more from Trisha Grace - my journey has just begun! You will not be disappointed!
This is the final book in the series. Lydia is Kate's sister. Their parents were killed when they were young. Lydia has issues with being mothered by Kate. Currently unemployed after having an affair with her boss the DA, Lydia is trying to find herself as well as meaning and purpose for her life. Finding forgiveness for herself and the truth of Grace as she and Detective Dave rescue enslaved people held hostage for 20 or more years.

I have enjoyed this book and this series so much. This wonderful group of friends and strangers that life throws together to become family is really unique. Their struggles are struggles that you may encounter, and the message is real. Trisha Grace is an author you shouldnt miss out on, read her books. I have read them all, and always want more, cant wait for this next series!!
Loved this series just couldn't put the books down! Loved the way God's love and forgiveness, grace and goodness were the theme throughout and always happy endings even through the storms!!
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were we’ll developed. I just kept reading to find out what was next. It had such a good message. We are not perfect but doesn’t mean we are bad people
This book was fast paced thriller that took you through the falling in love of Lydia and Dave. Of course this is the final book in the series but can easily be read as a stand alone
I couldn't put down the book because of so many interesting twist in the story. I was left hanging on Lydia apologizing to Margaret and children. Was there a closure aside from being upset? I like the ending, Lydia and Detective Dave finally were able to admit their feelings for each other.
