There is something deliciously old school about this author
I love the way she writes. Her storytelling reminds me of the best writers of the early days of urban fantasy. Her characters, if not fully human, don't necessarily exemplify human traits. Her werewolves are wolves first, human second, no apologies. It leads to a crisper style of writing that is much more respectful to the monsters. Over the past thirty years, authors have been humanizing their monsters more and more. Its so very boring. Singer doesn't do that. Luna, her mc, is always a wolf. Her magician love interest is never presented as typically human. The story moves quickly without overloading the reader. There's some real evil and a good amount of blood and gore. Not once does the author rely on sex as a filler. What's refreshing series! Real urban fiction in a sea of washed out tripe.
