From best selling author of BORN A COLORED GIRL and BUT HAVE NOT LOVE. Only one letter separates the two words Wishful is having hope for something Wistful is regret for what might have been
Rating-4 ✨ I really enjoyed reading this book. I like how the story started off telling you how it really was in those days. How the head man took advantage of all the girls and got them pregnant. They loved rapping the young brown skin girls and having babies to work the fields. Very sad but true. Then the story took a turn and twist and several explosions.
Short sentences that could have been combined. Wrong homonyms , many misspellings, sentences run together. Seemed as if author was in a hurry and it came off as if written by 1st grader. Dialect didn't match the times of situation. It was unrealistic that Anthony was able to hide so close to the plantation for several years without being captured. The story should be rewritten. So unrealistic.
A Love Triangle, between Anthony a rebellious slave, another slave, and a white woman. This book had so much action and was so realistic! I truly loved it. There's so much I can't give away.
It's artful, sad, action-filled, realistic, historical, and a love story. Truly one of the best. Very well done. It's a good read. Easy language, a great plot, and wonderful pace.
This was a great book.. Of course there was No Happy Ending . Mr.Malum was a Disgusting Individual to have treated Anyone that way.. I would like to see a Follow up to this..to See How Far Anthony & His Sister/Daughter's Mother got separately in Their Lives... I must say..I do wonder What this Authors background..Like..Why He seems to write so many books about Slavery...I thought He was Black..Now I wonder is he passing?🤔
This book was so good .I didn't put it down until I read it all.It was full of action, love and sacrifice. The slaves had it hard on the Mulan plantation. I was glad when Douglass and his dad got their payback. If you want a good weekend read. This is the book for you
It was sadly heartbreaking and romantic, and this was the best outcome, there were so many that were heartbreaking. But we need to read, to learn, to understand and to cry. We take our lives for granted, we can never feel what they suffered, the hard, difficult work and all the losses.
The plantation was owned by a cruel man and his son. He treated the slaves worse than the animals. When the truth came out! A young couple who fell in love planned to marry, but it was found it wasn't possible. They were siblings, they're mother's had been raped by their master.
Typical plantation type story with all the worse possible tasks produced by the time period. Except leaving a cliff at the end as to how those main characters played out their lives
Excellent reading, this book kept Mr on the edge of my seat until the very end. I would like to know what happened with Anthony and Beth as well as Emma and the baby. I enjoyed this book.
This book was very captivating it really held your attention. I would definitely recommend it. The only drawback was some of the spelling. It doesn't appear that anyone did any proofreading.
As in his style, Michael Q has done it again! Wonderful well written novel. Great read , easy reading and hold the imagination hostage throughout the entire read
This book was Excellent...It was one of those books that I did not want to end.....I felt the same about his other books as well! I was very fortunate to have come across this Author!!
The story was so historically incorrect and inconceivable. The editing was negligible with grammar and spelling errors abounding. The ending was ridiculous. Other than that, there were a few bits of interesting material.
