Love in Santa Lena #3

Waiting on Jason

Rate this book
I’ve been waiting for the right man to come along my whole life.

Screw that.

I’m done desperately watching my biological clock tick down, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Or the hands of a turkey baster.

But then Jason drove into my life and my resolve nearly crumbled.

One night is all I can give him. It’s all he wants.

At least, that’s what I thought. I made the mistake of assuming he wasn’t a forever kind of guy.

Turns out Jason just might be the one I’ve been waiting for.

Overdrive is book three in the Santa Lena Sizzles series by Jessa York. I absolutely loved the first two books in this series focusing on Harper and Jack and was so excited to learn that book three would be about Vivienne. This book can definitely be read as a stand alone but if you read the first two books, you would already be familiar with this zany group of people.

overdrive jessa york

Vivienne handles the sales at Brentford Organics, a food and produce supply company we became familiar with in the previous books where Harper works as office manager. Vivienne is thirty seven years old. She has never wanted anything more than to find the perfect man and to have children. She’s even bought the perfect house to raise her family in. Only she lives there all by herself. Finding the right man just never happened. She loves her job and spent years focusing on her career only to realize that her biological clock was running out. She’s about ready to give up on finding the right man to raise a family with. Having a one night stand at this point in her life was definitely not on her agenda but she couldn’t resist when she met the sexy Rideshare driver who drove she and her friends home from a night out. After their time together, she sweetly sent him home, only to have the memories of their time together and the connection she felt to stay with her over the coming months. Fate was in her corner when he turned up again as her driver, giving her a second chance to do things right this time.

biological clock ticking

Jason didn’t have much growing up and he still doesn’t. Being a driver is only a temporary job while he works on something better. He’s never felt the need to get involved with any particular woman. But the night he met Vivienne, he felt something special, only to be kicked out soon afterwards. He couldn’t get her off his mind and was thrilled to be given a second chance when they met again. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever met, even if she is twelve years older than he is.

Jason and Vivienne fall fast for each other but they are most definitely at different places in their lives. Jason is struggling, barely making rent, driving a car that is barely holding together. Vivienne is established in her career with money in the bank and ready to start her family.

sexy

I want to stop here even though there is so much more I want to say. I just don’t want to give away any spoilers. One thing I do want to say is that these two together are hot, hot hot! I loved them both. And wow can Vivienne bake. There is so much talk about all the different kinds of muffins she bakes, I now have the urge to do some baking.

lots of muffins

I loved the zany antics of her friends, Audrey, Harper and Riley. Even Roza. These really are her true friends and are always there for her, even though they seem to get up to all sorts of crazy ideas!

overdrive jessa york

I also want to briefly mention Dean, the owner of Brentford Organics. We didn’t really get to know him in the previous books but he is very close friends with Vivienne and I’m already falling in complete love with this guy! He is completely dedicated to his friendship with Vivienne but we also learn that he is a deeply broken man.

I am falling more and more in love with this series, with this group of people, with every book. I am so looking forward to the next book. I can’t wait to see what Jessa has in store for us next.

Oh my gawd! I am absolutely in love with Vivienne and Jason as well as the rowdy group of characters that orbit their lives.

For Vivienne, time is running out to build the perfect family. Mr. Right is nowhere in sight and the hot cab driver she just spent the night with is definitely not him. Their age difference alone is enough to clue her in to that fact. So with a tin of muffins, a smile, and a distracting kiss goodbye, she sends him on his way. Three months later, and still no hope in sight, she finds her cab driver once again in charge of getting her home. She may have long term goals that Jason will never fit into, but she’s certainly going to enjoy him while she can.

Jason was gone on Vivienne from the first moment she crawled into his car. After a night of intense pleasure and a connection he’s never felt with another woman, he’s shocked to find himself being the dumped rather than the dumpee the following morning. However, when the opportunity arises to see her again he takes the chance and the rest is history. Well, not exactly. There’s a lot of crazy that goes in between their re-connection and their happy ever after and I loved every minute of it.

Despite the conflicts this couple faced, this was such a fun story. Jason was laid back and easy going with a bit of a jealous, possessive streak in him. He might have been younger than Vivienne but that never deterred him from wanting her.

Vivienne had some issues she had to work through but she had the help of her friends and co-workers to assist her when she got caught up in her own head. They were freaking hilarious. There’s a bit of a twist to their story that I’ve never read before and I was fully invested in finding out how things were going to work out between this couple.

This is a fast paced read with some intense steam and a wonderful connection between the hero and heroine. I would’ve liked to have seen a bit more of them together, and a little less of the friends but I enjoyed the friends so much I can’t really complain. There’s a nice little epilogue that takes us into the future a few years and made me a very happy reader!

Overdrive by Jessa York is book Three in the Santa Lena Sizzles series. This is the story of Vivienne and Jason. This book can be a standalone book for sure, but the other were really good so you might want to consider reading them too.
Vivienne is thirty seven years old and a successful women but she has never meant the right man nor had the children that she wanted, an now heading toward giving that dream up. Vivienne had a hot encounter with Jason but that was hit until they meet up again. Jason is twelve years younger than Vivienne and in the start of a career and having to work a side job. But he knows she is the most beautiful women he seen and chemistry is off the charts.
This was a cute romance. I liked the older successful women and the young man coming into his own.

So super cute! Loved Vivianne and Jason’s story! The characters from the last book make an appearance. Really liked Dean in this one and felt like they could’ve been together as well. Still want to know what’s up with Riley.

This series is funny, romantic and and all around entertaining series. I knew when we got to Vivienne’s story that it would be a good one and the author did not disappoint me. She has written a great story around her and of course all her crazy-fun friends are there to help and maybe cause some mischief too.

Vivienne seems like she always has it together, the party gal who is always dressed to the nines and lives the high life. But on the inside she’s anything but, she desperately wants love and a family but she never met Mr. Right. But one night she calls for a driver and meets Jason. Jason is a Hot Guy that is still in the lovem and leavem phase of his life who is still trying to get his young life together while temporarily driving a cab. The attraction between Viv and Jason is electric. They end up spending a Hot night together on the night they meet. Jason thinks she just might be the one as she is nothing like any of the women he’s ever been with before. But Viv, being the older mature of the two, basically tells him to hit the road. But neither can get the other off their mind and both are miserable. So they meet up again and once again the attraction is off the charts.

Jason and Viv’s story is a fun, crazy ride with lots of misunderstandings and lots of zany nights. This is a great addition to the story and a fun insight to the mind of a woman’s biological clock. I highly recommend Overdrive and the entire Santa Lena Sizzles series. 5 stars and 2 Thumbs Up for Overdrive.

I loved this book with Vivienne and Jason's story even more than the first 2 books!

Jason and Vivienne fall hard and fast for each other, at least after that first night when it didn't look like there would be another night to Jason's disappointment. They are at completely different places in their lives. Jason is struggling, barely paying his bills, using a car for his driveshare business that is close to falling apart. Vivienne is established in her career with money in the bank and ready to start her family. Plus there is a 12-year age difference that is constantly at the back of Vivienne's mind.

I loved seeing the rest of the crazy gang swooping in to help when they hit bumps (or boulders!) in their relationship. Plus we get to know more about Vivienne's boss, Dean, and I really enjoyed this part of the story. And that epilogue, wow!

Can't wait for more in this series! Will it be Riley? Maybe Dean?

So much love for this one!!

Another amazing chapter in this fun series! I absolutely adored this story and can't say enough about it!!

I can't say enough about this author's writing. She grabs you from the first sentence and keeps you captivated until the last page. I seriously HATED putting this book down due to adulting responsibilities.

I loved Vivienne and Jason. You could feel the heat and connection from their first meeting. I really enjoyed watching them grow in their own way. They were both very well written.

It was also nice to see the rest of the characters from Over Easy and Over Hard!

I absolutely recommend this book along with the rest of the series!!!!

I loved Vivienne and Jason’s story. Vivienne, a successful professional, is running out of time to start her family and Jason is a struggling writer trying to make a living as a driver. He sees Vivienne when in his car, who happens to be older than him, and is immediately drawn to her. Vivienne likes Jasón as well but is hesitant over their age difference. But love knows no time, age, or position in life. I felt for her and what she was going through. I really enjoyed their story and keeping up with the characters introduced in the first two books. I can’t wait for Dean’s story next!!

This is the 3rd book in the Santa Lena Sizzles series and I love Jason and Vivienne's story. I have loved this whole series but these two are by far my favorite couple as of now. Their story tore my heart out then pieced it all back together. I am not usually a fan of age gap books but this one wasn't a problem for me. Jessa has a way with words that just pulls you in and doesn't let go. There were a few times I wanted to smack Jason but in the end I still adored him. I'm still wanting Riley's story as well as Dean's! Can't wait to see what we get next. A 5+ star read for me.

I have loved this series!! Vivienne and Jason are so great together. Yeah there may be an age difference but when it comes down to it age is just a number. When you love someone there is nothing to stop you from being with the one you are meant to be.

I can't wait to read more from this author and from the other characters in the Santa Lena books.

I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Jessa York sure doesn’t seem like a new author. She seems like she’s been doing this gig forever!
She’s bringing out books after books, and they’re all just so good!
The third installment—which can be read as a stand-alone—in the Santa Lena series is about Jason and Vivienne.

I absolutely adored these two. Every book I’ve read that’s had a significant age gap has always been the younger woman with older man.
This was my first time reading the reverse. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Vivienne is a woman who knows exactly what she wants. She’s at an age where she isn’t looking for random hook-ups and is looking for that forever long term commitment.
Jason is a driver who’s still trying to figure out how to deal with this thing we call life.
What happens when these two people, from complete different worlds, collide in the most explosive way possible?
Can they forgo society’s norms, life’s ticking time bomb, and hidden truths?

Overdrive had me laughing out loud and swooning so many times!
Another amazing novel by Jessa York.
Can’t wait to read about Dean now.
And, I still haven’t forgotten about Riley!

Older Woman, Younger Man – Magical Story!!

Not a cougar. In fact, after a steamy night our older woman can’t move forward and kicks younger man out. Three months later, neither has recovered. Beautiful building of relationship with humor and sensitivity. The gang is here from the first two stories in the series – you didn’t miss those did you?

I found out this is the first series for this author. I’m astounded. Because these characters leap off the page, and your heart is drawn into the action. I can’t wait to see what will happen with more “experience” … I will be watching and reading!!

Overdrive is another wonderful addition to the Santa Lena Sizzles world. Jason and Vivienne were so much fun to read about. Love the added twist thrown in with the older woman, younger man storyline, as well as some realistic challenges that an age difference may cause. But, age truly is just a number and when two people are meant to be together, they will find a way.

Once again, the secondary characters just give the book a little something extra. Love the friendships and camaraderie between all of them and the insane things they are willing to do for one of their own.

Oh how I loved Jason and Vivienne's story!!! It was a fresh romance with us getting the older woman, younger man for a change. Jessa did it really well.

I felt it was believable. It was funny, it was definitely hot & just the right amount of sweet feels. I have to say - as with her other stories, her secondary characters really bring something to the book. They make it feel richer and I hope we get more from them too.

Really great read & I definitely recommend.

I received an arc of this book.

I’m so glad I kept reading. This one is as good as the first two. I’m falling farther down the rabbit hole. I can’t wait for the fourth one to be out. If the books hadn’t sold me on taking a chance and continuing on reading this series, then Jessa herself would have closed the deal. She’s the bomb!

Not the story I expected

Jason is a driver, while Vivienne is an executive. She is also older than him, but the attraction is total.
This wasn't the simple story that I expected. Yes, they worry about the age difference, and yes things get in the way of a smooth romance, but there is a lot more going on, hence the title, which makes it more than your average love story. Hot sex and errors, and a great supporting cast of characters.

I've never been to Santa Lena, but this series is causing me some serious FOMO!
So this is where all the hotties are hiding now?!

This was such a fun, flirty, sexy addition to a series that has already rung my romance bell.
I wasn't sure what I was expecting for the third book, but it definitely wasn't the spin on age gap romance that Jessa just slayed me with.

Our friend from books 1 & 2, Vivienne, is our sweet and lovable heroine in book 3. She still gets up to her old tricks and shenanigans with her gal pals, Rosa, Riley, Audrey and Harper, but we explore a deeper side to Vivienne this go around. Jessa gives us more than just a passing glimpse into what makes Vivienne really tick. Besides her biological clock, that is.
And believe you me, there is so much more to this woman than meets the eye.

Our fearless planner, and highly organized career woman is about to take the ride of her life!
Literally, because little does she know that one chance encounter with a hired driver (Jason), will set her life plans on an alternate course. You know what they say about the best laid plans.

Twenty-five year old Jason, is a budding novelist. He has always struggled in life, with a background that no one would feel envious of, so he is more than adept at having to juggle aspects of his life just keep his head above water. He has a huge heart and enjoys giving his time to others. Jason cannot wait for the day that he is on stable ground after his writing career takes off. In the mean time, one must eat, so to earn money and have time to write, he provides transportation
to others for pay. It doesn't pay much, but it helps ends meet. When a stunning older woman named Vivienne, accepts a ride from him on her way to an event, the two share an instant connection.
A connection that needed to be explored further, and all. night. long. after the event. Go Viv!!!

The following day, Vivienne tosses him out like yesterday's bagel, leaving the young Jason wondering what the heck happened. That is not the reaction Jason usually gets from women, which only amplifies Vivienne's appeal to him. Months pass, and Jason cannot forget the bombshell that rocked his world. When fate intervenes, giving them a second chance, neither can resist and they don't plan to.

Jessa has written a touching storyline, that explores the pitfalls of not only an age gap romance, but the challenges men face when dating an established woman of means. I loved the way this romance was written with the perfect balance of humor and maturity. The author did not cheat her readers out of the dose of realism that a relationship like Jason and Vivienne's demanded to maintain its authenticity. As with her other books, you feel as if you are peeking into the lives of an actual couple, which allows you to feel immersed in the story whole-heartedly. I love this about her writing style!

Jason and Vivienne have serious chemistry, which is so much fun to read about! They complemented each other really well, and just plain had fun with each other, making this another read I savored with a huge smile on my face. Add in the fact that we get to see all of our favorite characters from books 1 and 2, and you have yourself a hit with book 3 as well! So much swooning, and so many laughs make this a MUST READ for those seeking light, easy, hot and breezy.
Jason and Vivienne sizzle and do not disappoint!

I loved the entire journey with them, but wowza....that epilogue... Jessa!!!
Yasss, girl, Yasss!
Freaking. Perfect. Sigh.....

Now....you totally owe us Dean!!! My heart was in tatters with the HUGE feels you erected there for this incredible man. I am absolutely consumed with the telling of his story asap. I just know you are going to blow our minds as you piece his heart together. What a man!!

Highly recommend you take a chance and see what else sizzles in Santa Lena!

Vivienne MacIntyre is 37 years old and works for Brentford Organics. She is watching her biological clock pass by her and knows she is running out of time if she wants a family. One night she is picked up by a driver named Jason and the two get together but she knows he is too young for her.
Jason is a driver and believes that he has something with Vivienne and will not let her age deter him from getting to know her better. He has his own goals of what he wants to do with his life but also knows that he doesn’t have much compared to her.
With misunderstandings about exes and Vivienne’s biological click ticking will it all be too much for Jason too fast?
This is another great book in this series and I really enjoyed this one.
Vivienne was a hard worker and was at the stage where she was running out of choices if she wanted to have a family. She knew that Jason was a great guy but she also knew that he was young and probably wasn’t ready to settle down with her so fast after meeting.
Jason was a great character and I knew right away he was more grown up but we didn’t really have an indication of his age except that he was young. He seemed to realize that his little apartment was just temporary and necessary to achieve his own goals.
The stuff with Jared was crazy as you knew how Vivienne felt but Jared just did not seem to have a clue which led to huge misunderstandings but right away you knew it was going to come back at Vivienne.
Money was such a huge part in this book and I totally understood both sides of it. As a single-mom I realize that money for me does not come easy and at times you feel like you are having to keep up with others which was what Jason was going through. Jason knew he didn’t have enough for certain things and didn’t want “handouts” from Vivienne. I knew Vivienne didn’t mean anything by it and was just trying to help so I completely understood both sides.
The end was totally awesome and I was so happy for Vivienne!! The epilogue was even better and I hope to get Dean’s story next!- By Rebecca

After reading and loving the first two books in the Santa Lena Sizzles series I was beyond excited to get my hands on Overdrive. I loved diving back in with this great ensemble of characters and Jessa York’s great writing.

Vivienne is a planner. She wants a career, a family, the perfect husband, and a big, beautiful home to live in. At 37 she has the beautiful home of her dreams, but that’s all she’s checked off her list. Focusing on her career has brought her success, but now she feels like she’s running out of time for everything else. Then after a fun girls night out she finds herself having a one night stand with the sexy and charming ride-share driver tasked with taking her and group of friends home. That was definitely not in her plans, but she figures why not? After a hot night together she tells him goodbye, only to leave Vivienne with consuming memories of their time together. But luck and fate conspire when he shows up as her driver a second time.

I’m not a particular fan of age gaps when the woman is older, but this story was so fun I didn’t even really notice. Jason and Vivienne are at two completely different points in their lives. She’s 37 with a stable and flourishing career. He’s 25 and a struggling driver. She’s ready to settle down, have kids, and live in her gorgeous house. He’s never really wanted a serious relationship and barely making rent. And yet they both feel such a strong connection. Not to mention they are hot, hot, hot together! I loved this mismatched yet perfectly paired couple. I also loved getting to revisit old friends and all the baking Vivienne does. I now feel the need to bake too! This was such a fun and sexy read. The perfect addition to the series and another win for Jessa York. 5 Stars.

Overdrive (Santa Lena Sizzles Book 3) by Jessa York is a contemporary, age gap romance told in dual POV. Although part of a series and we originally met Vivienne in the previous books, this can definitely be read as a standalone.

Thirty-seven-year-old, Vivienne, can feel her biological clock ticking. She has always wanted marriage and a family, but time is running out and she still hasn't met Mr. Right. She decides to take matters into her own hands with her doctor's help and begins to explore options of having children without the involvement a significant other.

Enter, twenty-five-year-old, rideshare driver, Jason. He was just supposed to be a one night stand - nothing more. Vivienne never expected to fall for him, and she definitely didn't expect someone so young and sexy to be interested in something serious.

Vivienne's convinced that he's too young to be "the one." But Jason has never felt such a strong connection before and he's not willing to give up. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles caused by their age difference? You'll have to read to find out.

I really enjoyed Vivienne and Jason's story. They were both very likeable and relatable characters. It was also great to revisit secondary characters who brought fun and humor to the story. Actually, all the characters are fantastic and keep me wanting more! After book two, I expected this one to be about Riley. She's so mysterious! I hope her story is coming soon. But now, I'm also really intrigued by Dean. I look forward to reading whatever comes next!

After having read the first two books in this series (which were a duet) I knew I was going to love Vanessa’s story. We got to meet her in Over Easy and Over Hard (the duet), and knew she was the life and soul of the party. But what we didn’t know was her secret desire. For Mr. and a big family.
Vanessa is on the wrong side of thirty and is desperate to be a wife and mom, but that wish never seems to come any closer to happening. When she meets Jason, he’s her driver for the night. He’s hot, young and sexy as hell. She can’t say no when he offers her a bit more than a ride home.
But, that’s all he can give her, and Vanessa sends him packing.
Jason, for the first time in his life is on the receiving end of a one night stand gone wrong. He’s looking for more and he gets shunted instead.
Three months later, he gets the opportunity to be Vanessa’s again and jumps at the chance. He’s not been able to forget about him and when he finds out that Vanessa been thinking about him all this time he knows they have something worth exploring.
And explore it they do… several times.
I really enjoyed this sexy story and getting to see the other characters from the two previous books again too.
Vanessa was a strong independent woman with a soft, vulnerable side who just wanted to be a normal, everyday mom and wife. Jason, didn’t seem to tick that box for her at first, but he sure made her change her mind. HOT, SEXY and with some seriously sinful alpha tendencies, he was a man after my own heart.

This was another great story in the Santa Lena series. Jason is a driver, which leads him to picking up Vivienne and her boss Dean. He is instantly attracted to Vivienne, and she shows interest as well. Neither of them is looking for anything more than having some fun. They hook up and she more or less tosses him from her bed. He thought for sure there would be more between them. Their chemistry is undeniable and hot. They go months without seeing or hearing from each other until the nights her friends take her out on the town.

Guess who is their driver? Jason. They get back together, and through it realize they both wanted more, more frome each other and more from life.. There is one thing the continually comes up between them, their age difference, and secrets they kept from the other. Will they beat the odds?

This was a great read. Some cursing at my kindle, some "whys", a lot of laughing. Audrey and Murray's twins are a handful but a riot. There were some ups and downs, some highs and lows. But in the end it's all about love, and not letting anyone, or anything stand in your way. If you find that person, the one that makes it all worth it? You fight for it.

I love this series. All of the women are full of life and fun to read.

Vivienne is a strong independent woman who is ready to have a family, but hasn't found Mr. Right yet. She's making plans to do this on her own until she meets Jason and has a one night stand with him. Jason and Vivienne have an instant connection.

The friendship of the women in this series is strong and loyal. Harper, Riley, Audrey, Roza and Vivienne can find all kinds of trouble to get into when they are together, but they're always there for each other when the times are tough. They will do anything to make sure that each of them are alright and happy. I love Roza, and her little stories about the old country. She cracks me up with her bluntness and tough act. Riley has a whole story of her own that I can't wait to read.

I love this story and Vivienne and Jason's lives and love will take a huge hit through this story, but their HEA is worth the trouble and turmoil. I give this story a 4 star review and highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a story with strong independent women who are loyal and fun to read. Jessa did another great job with Vivienne's story.

Book 3 in the Santa Lena series is about Vivienne and Jason’s story.
What a great read. It was fun and sexy this two characters are amazing and their chemistry hot. Jason is younger than Vivienne and she feels that age is a problem between them. She is smart, fun, and sexy and really liked Jason but she feels that he is not ready for her. After a one night stand, she never planned to see Jason again.
Jason is is laidback and cool. But meeting Vivienne and having spend the night with her, he just can’t forget her.
After some months they see each other again and the chemistry is still there and both can’t seem to forget each other, but here is where the fun begins.
Vivienne wants a family commitment and Jason just wants to have fun what will it be? The turns and twists these two take are gonna make you swoon, cry and scream.

Love that we see all the other characters in the first two books and learn a bit more about them.
I loved this story. With every book the author just keeps giving us amazing relatable stories.
5 Stars read!

** read an ARC and this is my honest opinion
