Sarge: The Veteran's Best Friend

Rate this book
Abandoned on the streets of Oklahoma City, a puppy that came to be known as Sarge was frightened, hungry, and ... angry. The good folks at Second Chance Animal Sanctuary took him in, cared for him, and tried to place him in an adopted home, but he was always returned because he was still frightened and mean. Finally Sarge was sent to a prison dog training program called Friends for Folks.

This is the story of Sarge's journey from rejection and fear to a productive happy life as the mascot of the Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma.

Beautiful illustrations make this book of love and redemption special.

Sarge was found on the street and adopted & returned several times before training in a program for dogs in prison. He eventually became the mascot for the Veterans Center in Norman and serves the veterans and staff there.
