Something wicked is stirring, and the Cirque du Shadow may not survive.
Mia yearns for more in her life than merely summoning the whispers of souls and waiting for a love that will never be. When she is unwillingly partnered with the mysterious and charming Sorin, she begins to wonder if her chance at a more fulfilling life has come at last. Usagi, Mia’s unrequited love and charge, doesn’t trust the newcomer and wants to see him out of the circus, but Mia insists on giving him a chance.
When Sorin offers to teach Mia how to soul cast, she doesn’t hesitate in taking the opportunity. After all, gaining such skills may just help her free Usagi of the curse that keeps him tethered behind a mask. However, the methods of Mia’s new partner are questionable, and she soon becomes embroiled in a tangle of secrets, betrayal, and a plan so malevolent, she may lose her soul in the process.
Will Mia risk everything to save the one she loves, or will she succumb to her own darkness?

From an early age Miranda Brock has always loved fantasy and adventure everything. Since she doesn't live in a world of enchanting powers, mythical beasts, and things unbelievable she has decided to write about them. (Although, if you happen to see a dragon flying around, do tell her.) Born in southern Illinois, where she still resides with her husband and two children, she grew up running through the woods, playing in creeks, and riding horses. What started out as writing poetry grew into short stories and eventually led to her first novel, Souls Discovered. Miranda lives in the country where she finds inspiration in the simplicity and beauty around her. With the help of a ridiculous amount of coffee and some good music she writes whenever she gets a chance.
Okay, so book three really ramps up on the action. All the mysteries hinted at in books one and two come to fruition, and we get a chance to peer into Mia's mind as she pines for her show partner. But, things here get a little weird. First, the bond bands are slapped on as she's paired with another partner, this time as the trainee. The bands made sense in book one, a little less so in book two, and was a little overdone by book three. Second, I feel like the author felt the need to keep up the steam level, so the romance goes from pining to heat at the most inappropriate time and in the weirdest way. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to see those two together, but it just didn't feel like their characters. Finally, and probably the least of my concerns, but it bears telling, is it seemed as if the editing starts slipping as we go through the series. Book one was excellent, and books two and three aren't bad, per se, but by book three I was really stumbling over the additional words and little typos, enough so that I had to stop a minute to figure something out. Aside from that, I loved all the twists and turns the circus took, so much so that even the fact that Mia didn't use her power to directly defeat the antagonist is forgivable. Overall a fun series.
I am sad this series is now over. This book seemed short and rushed. It was only from Mia's perspective, where others were dual. I would have liked more depth about Jax, Drum and others. Wish it was a dual with Mia/Iris-Irwin. Still a good series, wish ending had not come so soon.
Being the last book in the series, it wraps everything up nicely (like why the ringmaster is two different people!). It was great to read more about Usagi and Mia, and their partnership, but something was lacking for me - it just didn't grip me like the previous two books. A new guy rocks up and essentially, turns everything upside down in the cirque, including Mia. She doesn't know how to react to him, especially when he's so nice to her, but that doesn't stop Usagi disliking him. If you've read the previous books in the series then I'd say you should read this, if not, then it's a fab little series - even if the first two are better (in my opinion).
An ending that’s more of a new beginning for Cirque Du Shadow!
We met Mia and Usagi at the beginning of the trilogy and the pair seems a bit sinister at first, but you quickly learn their partnership is more of a tragedy.
In Wisps of Catastrophe, we get the truth from these two characters, plus so much more! If you’ve read the other books, and were as fascinated by Iris and Irwin as me, buckle in, because you’re gonna find out!
We also get to visit with the MCs from the past two books. However, because of Usagi’s curse, this is the only book in the series not told through duel perspectives.
Miranda Brock has brought this supernatural circus to life and gave it a great ending!
