Rescue Four #3

Emanuel's Heat

Rate this book
Janine
I walked right into him outside my hotel room while on vacation. Somehow that turned into my spending the following three days in Cabo San Lucas with him. Emanuel, the firefighter and obvious heart breaker. But I don’t have time for love. Not anymore, after a recent break-up, career change, and relocating to a new city. The last thing I need is to get involved with a man who’s just not right for me. I’ve been strung along enough. So, I give Emanuel a fake name, thinking at the end of my time in Mexico I’d never see him again.
How wrong I was.

Emanuel
Her name’s Janine, not Nadine as she’d told me in Mexico, and she’s my new neighbor. It’s like the stars align, pushing us together. In spite of the push back on her part, I know we’re meant to be. Steadily, I wear her down, breaking through the fears and insecurities her past has given her showing her that I’m not the man of chaos I once was known as. And while my recent transfer to a new firehouse is going well, there are some lingering secrets that pose a threat not only to myself but the new woman in my life. When everything seems to finally be coming together for us, her past and the lingering threat to Rescue Four threaten to tear us apart.

Janine Thompson
throws in the towel on her 10-year after she finally accepts her boyfriend is never going to take their relationship to the next level. The first order of business: 1) Get rid of her non-committing boyfriend, 2) Go on a solo vacation and live a lot(!), 3) Get a new job and 4) Move to a new city.

While on vacation Janine/Nadine meets Emanuel Allende, a man that encourages her to throw caution to the wind by spending the next several days with him and doing things outside her comfort zone. She embraces and lives in the now and shares a night of passion with Emanuel with an understanding that its a vacation fling. They part ways, each thinking about the other long after they've parted for good.

So when Emanuel discovers his new neighbor across the hall is none other than Nadine (read the book) he's surprised and thrilled. Emanuel makes it clear he's not going anywhere and slowly melts her defenses by proving he's a man of both words and actions. When Janine's ex-boyfriend Matthew decides he wants her back Emanuel makes it clear that it would be healthier for him to return to Boston, back to his comfortable life.

When Matthew doesn't heed Emanuel's warning things escalate and Janine discovers that Emanuel has family members straight out of ! This is where the story charts familiar and tired territory and the heroine disappointed both me and Emanuel. I'd planned to deduct an entire star but the ending of the book was pure gold.

The mystery surrounding the arsonist is ramping up and I can't wait to find out the identity of the culprit. Fingers crossed that Don's book is next because he has been portrayed as a Casanova and we all know Casanova's need love too. Hold on ... there is one other firefighter named Sean who has ribbed the guys and made it known he's not going to publicly fall for a woman so I cannot wait until he falls and falls, hard!

"Every relationship in this damn house has to come with some form of drama, Sean says. That's why you fucks will never know whether I'm in a relationship or not. I'll pop up with a whole wife on your asses and you'd never be the wiser. I'm keeping my business to myself."

Well, we shall see Sean--we shall see!

When this author releases a book I drop everything to read it and you should too! Read this Book! Read All Her Books!

Ok

The book was an ok read but lacked the intrigue of the other ones- Eric and carter’s stories. Janine was dull and irritating at times. Her reaction to Emmanuel sort of estranged family was cowardly. He barely knows these people so what does it matter what they do. Yes they are probably dangerous but then again he is a firefighter. Ok I suppose there is the legality of it but she doesn’t even know the details so it was a complete overreaction. As he said would she have been happier with him in a jail cell? The ex and the mother scenarios felt a bit stale. I guess the next book is about Don and Jocelyn. I’m looking forward to finding out who is the arsonist. I hope there will be more action then. I would love to read more about Christian too and maybe he can help them out.

Mmm mmmm mmmmmm

Firefighters have always been sexy to me because they’re real live heroes. But Tiffany Patterson has taken them to a whole nother level! Carter, hot! Eric, hotter!! Emmanuel, pure fire!

Excellent story, looking forward to hearing more from these two

This story seems like it's part one of two or maybe, fingers crossed three!!
The story had me gripped from start to finish, I loved the characters even the obvious villains Matthew and Janine's mum Janet, horrible individuals...The whole story just flowed so nicely I want to hear about Emmanuel's family and how they are so protective over him, there is a lot more stories that can be developed from this one story. Loved every minute of it, a must read!!!!

Outstanding

You have to love Tiffany Patterson’s alpha male characters. Finding love in an unexpected place. Emanuel visiting his family for a wedding and Janine regrouping after a break up.

Janine’e mother, words cannot express how disgusting and nasty she is.

Great addition to the Rescue 4 series

Love Emmanuel and Janine's story. From their meeting in Mexico to how it blossoms into a love neither of them thought they could find it have. It's a sweet story and I enjoyed it a lot as I do pretty much all of Tiffany Patterson's books. She knows how to write an alpha! Love these firefighters at Rescue 4. Now anxiously anticipating Don's story for a minute. I was surprised he didn't come after Eric's story but looking forward to reading more in this series.

He enjoyed popping all kinds of cherries

It wasn't just sex, he was her first at doing all kinds of things from parasailing to going to an escape house. Emanuel Allende was in Mexico for a cousin's wedding when they met. Janine was on vacation alone trying to get her mind straight and adjusted before she starts her new life and a new job in Williamsport. Since they thought they would never see each other again, they spent all of their time together, not knowing that the future will look different when they return back home. At home, they both could not get each other off of their minds and were shocked to find out they were neighbors.

Emanuel lived his life being a firefighter. He attained the goal of working for Rescue Four after he received the Webster Award for his bravery. But now that Janine was back in his life, he wanted more from life, and Janine was it. Janine found Emanuel to be loving and spontaneous and fun, not like her ex Matt. She could be herself with Emanuel. He brought out a side of her that she did not know existed.

Janine had to adjust to her new job and the jerk she worked with. Emanuel gave her the courage she needed to deal with her a**hole co-worker, controlling ex and her trashy no-good mother. she also had to resolve her feelings towards Emanuel's family's business and his possible future in it.

This story was not my cup of tea in the beginning. I felt that Emanuel was too harsh/ vulgar with his conversations with Janine. Janine just took his behavior. She was such a wimp by staying in a relationship with Matt. But she redeemed herself by getting out of an unhappy relationship. It was not until she was committed to Emanuel that she knew what a real loving relationship was like. Even though a lot of situations were solved in this book, it is still a cliffhanger of sorts by not solving the arsonist problem. I hope it will be resolved in the next book.

I skimmed a lot🌚. I liked their story but honestly didn't do much for me - it felt very generic which is okay sometimes just.. I dunno y'all.

Entertaining as usual

Emanuel was just full of surprises, the adventures were not unusual for his line of work. But the family had my jaw dropping. Loved how Janine kept stepping out of her box to grow and make herself better. Inspiring story.

2.5 Okay, writing isn’t that great

I didn’t finish, and not sure I will. I’ve read this author before, and like her other works, this one could use a good developmental edit. It’s just so clunky to read. Over descriptions (“I got out of my queen sized bed, put my feet over the side of the wooden frame and onto the carpet.” YIKES! I got out of bed is enough. We know how that happens.), tense issues, awkward phrasing, repeated over descriptions (the main character telling us she wears a silk sleeping mask to bed every day every time she gets out of bed. I mean, it was an unnecessary detail to begin with.). It’s hard to stay into the story because I have to rewrite it as I go to make it read better. I skip a lot.

Also, no giggling. It just doesn’t work. It makes the characters seem stupid, and adults don’t giggle. Children do.

I’d probably like these as fun stories if they were just nicer in terms of readability. I only come back when I’ve exhausted all of my other reading options, but then I remember how hard it is to read this author. Hopefully she’ll listen to some feedback and work on her narration.

The Heat Between Them!!

Emmanuel and Janine, the heat between them was on fire. I was so happy that Emmanuel told Janine all about his past, and his family. I would love to learn more about the Genevieve family?? I cannot wait for the conclusion of this series.

:X so a bit rushed right now but also there's not as much to say? Kinda?

While Janine and Emanuel are ... IDEK. I liked that they met in Mexico first and hung out - and then serendipitously meet again [but ... didn't he tell her where he works?]
I thought?

But anyway, whatever - they meet again.
The whole butterfly nickname ... I get it - people love butterflies. And in the end he does explain why he calls her Butterfly - yes Janine has a lot to go through/growth she needs .... [but I really fucking hate butterflies. I hate ALL bugs.]

=> But the "dark moment" with Janine being all "oh I can't trust you'll stay a firefighter"

Emmanuel really pushes Janine to be less staid ... but it's also in part she's become so withdrawn and entrenched because her shitty abusive.

DUDE. I KNEW IT re: her mom - like ... SO SKEEVY.
What kinda bothered me a lot too is supposedly Janine and Angela are besties - SO WHY... WHAT. With Angela being DUMB about her mom. I get Angela has a super soft spot for moms because she lost hers but GIRL. WHERE IS YOUR BRAIN. Angela isn't dumb so COME ON.

Janine and her new job stuff.
Zeke. [A white dude named Zeke? :X]

I wasn't quite sure what to think of her boss Danny.

I did like how Emmanuel got pranked by his new coworkers and pranked them back <3

He WAS a hot head though and I don't think enough was done to address that/hopefully the fight like - he gets a clue? Cuz it is dangerous and bad to ignore orders and just run in.
And /but also Rescue 4 is ESPECIALLY on edge because the unknown.

Obviously the next book will be Donnie and Cory's sister...

But - Emmanuel and Janine's book fell a bit flatter/ X: much flatter to me.

D... D+? I don't know.
D+ I guess?

They met on vacation, had a fling. Not knowing they're neighbor in several weeks.

Anyway, I thought this book was ok. It's intriguing enough, and spicy enough. But also, I think it's too long and too many unnecessary things.

Emanuel's estranged family for example. We don't need to know them actually. I understand it's an interconnected from another series, but still. Could work without so much explanation.

Janine's mom. I have a big problem for Emanuel and Angela. They both closed to Janine, know what her origin story, yet they still being nice to Janine's mom. They knew she's a bad mom, toxic, and make Janine uncomfortable. So why Emanuel let her in his apartment, knowing Janine's want to denied her at first? Why Angela ask her if she want to go when they go shopping? Weird.

Inconsistency. I think this is related to author's editor or something. Emanuel has a Mustang, saying it his baby and his only one car. Then he suddenly has a Camaro. I mean.. consistent enough? Also Janine supposed to stay at Angela and Eric's place, but then suddenly it's Angela's apartment on top level of her bar.

I am so sad. I wanted this to be great, but it just wasn’t.
As I reiterate in every review, Patterson’s books seem to be cut from the same cloth. The only discernible difference between each book is the micro aspects of the plots and the WMCs, but beyond that, I repeat, THE. BOOKS. ARE. THE. SAME. More specifically, all the men blend together. They have the same traits. The same personalities. In the case of this series, they all have the same jobs. They all do the same things in each book.

But I still keep reading her books. Is it delusion? Is it my inability to not finish a series that I start? Is it masochism? Probably all three.

The beginning of Emanuel’s Heat felt like Personal Protection 2.0. Or rather, Personal Protection is Emanuel’s Heat 2.0 since Emanuel’s Heat came out first. The books felt very, very identical. The difference is Personal Protection was just a better book as a whole. Janine is officially my least favorite WMC that Patterson has written. Her people-pleasing tendencies were on my nerves. The ex-boyfriend would have got his behind handed to him WAY before he landed in Williamsport. And her momma, too.

I am hoping for more in Don’s Blaze next so I can finish up this series.

It's review time 🎧

Warning ⚠️ : holiday romance, firefighters 🚒 romance, cute story, a bit emotional.

Narrator score🎧 ; both narrator's were great, I loved the male narrator quite much, as did the female too. They did a great job.

Level of steam🔥: it's hot! Like very hot, not a slow burn at all.

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: well, I cried in the prologue as soon as something happened, and I did cry in some other moments as well. Bad thing did happen in this book and thought I cried I don't know the level of sadness is big and cruel, you have some very emotional parts, but its not a critical sadness. If I explained my self right.

The book itself📖: its the 4th book in a series, but it is a standalone, a full on standalone. I loved the story, I loved the characters, and the friendship between the firefighters is wonderful even the animosity is well written. I loved the story, it isnt a very complex book, and yet it was good and solid.

Another Hit

I love this author’s work and I love this series! Another hot, sexy fireman from the Williamsport FD bites the dust, Emmanuel. Loved Emmanuel, he was assertive, knew what he wanted and pursued Janine relentlessly. Janine had to grow on me because her insecurities got on my nerves, I understood why she was insecure because of her crazy mother and A-hole ex, but still, girlfriend move on! I worried she would drive Emmanuel away with all her fears and uncertainty. But Emmanuel broke down all her barriers and annihilated all her fears. The whodunnit element of the book was intriguing, the mystery isn’t solved yet, so between the mystery and seeing who bites the dust next: Don? I’m ready for the next book!

Really enjoyed this story. It took me a while to pick up this book and read it cause Emmanuel didn’t really appeal to me in the other books but I saw him in a whole new alpha light in this book. Sexy (he is a fireman) assertive and commanding with a little daredevil thrown in. Janine I surprisingly liked a lot too. She was uptight and overly cautious due to being surrounded by negative, critical, controlling people her whole life. This was definitely a case of opposites attract where Emmanuel could help Janine loosen up and have fun and Janine could stop Emmanuel living up to his nickname chaos.
The running background theme is still the mysterious arsonist setting fires in Williamsport affecting each member of rescue four

Emanuel's Heat

Emanuel and Janine

They met in Mexico and Emanuel fell hard. Janine was like you fine, but still. So she gives him a fake name...lol.They spend all their time together and then leave when their vacation is finishes.

Little did they know that they were gonna end up in the same city. Janine relocated for new beginnings and they end up bwing neighbors...lol and yes, he calls her our on the fake name usage.

Janine ex boyfriend has decided that Janine dont know her own mind and he has decided that they are still together. So, of course he adds drama to the mix.

Emanuel is trying to solve a mystery that caused his bestfriend to be hurt on the job. In all of this he is continuing to show Janine know that she belongs to him.

The third book in the series about the Williamsport Fire Department features Emanuel. Emanuel has transferred to this new firehouse because it’s a more active firehouse after winning an award for firefighting.

He meets Janine, Angela’s best friend in Mexico on vacation and they have a fling making a strong connection. Never realizing that they are neighbors back in Williamsport.

The book is about the two of them finding love with each other, dealing with Janine’s ex, and Emanuel’s guilt over the death of a child during a fire he was at. Then there’s an event that happens at the end of the book that propels you into the final book in the series.

While these two end up together and get a HEA, it’s not the typical marriage HEA. Really enjoyed this book.

I'm just a cruisin' along with this book, enjoying the fact that its literally just a story about 2 people that met, clicked and let themselves fall in love without a bunch of overdone drama and denial. Appreciating the ride, ya know?

Then BOOM! Chapter 21 out of 27 AND THIS CHICK RIGHT HERE literally concocts some total fuckery creating drama thats so fictional and completely baseless to push this man away.
I'm done. Its that bad. Like, literally insulting. If this were a real man, he would be a fool not to walk away from her and block every means of communication possible. She's utterly ridiculous.

On to the next.

A serial arsonist, a toxic mother, a hotheaded ex bf and a mafia related family all coupled with bad workplace energy (aka haters at the job)… this book was a whirlwind.

I really love Janine and her character. She experienced a ton of personal growth and courage but for me Emanuel came off too strong especially for a girl who was just picking up the peices of her heart.
I am glad she got the strength to stand up for herself but for a love story, there were too many pieces unfolding and I was not interested in all of the moving parts. I have definitely read other favorites from Tiffany Patterson.

Excellent

WOW! This story will easily steal your heart. It's a powerful combination of fun and excitement that's so full joy and romance. I really enjoyed these characters they are so amazing and are just pure perfection together. When you add in the drama along with tons of emotions plus some intriguing twists and turns then you have a story that's full of feelings and so beautiful, you will enjoy how their relationship is loads of laughs and excitement that it all works so well together. This story is truly delightful and I Highly Recommend Reading it.

Alrighty Then....

Loved Emanuel way more than I thought I would. I got frustrated with Janine as it took her way too long to grow a pair..😤 But thankfully she did. I started reading the Townsend clan and just stopped. I don't know what happened. I start a series, get sidetracked and its months to over a year or two before I remember. Love the familiar faces, there's good suspense, and always a well deserved butt whipping..😆 I'm going right into Don's Blaze as I am anxious for the crazed Arsonist to be revealed & dealt with...👍

I enjoyed this more than Carter’s story!

Emanuel is just as much an alpha as Carter, but not as intense! He has a playful side and tended to be quite the jokester. But, do not mess with his “Woman” or push the wrong button on his personal side! He will be coming after you and he can be quite mean! Janine did not know what she stumbled upon or how to really handle what she got! The fun and interesting parts came with him showing her how to handle her new man!

Emanuel and Janine

I love Emanuel, from the moment he met Janine he's did nothing but try to build her up. He appeared in her life right when she needed it. Her ex Matt is a sorry excuse of a person and so is her triflin mama. Matt thought he was the man cause his family had power but Emanuel's family is more powerful and that's what scared Janine. I'm glad she came to her senses. I don't know who the arsonist is but I hope the catch him and quick before he cause anymore damage. 💓💓

Heated Love

These characters are completely different from each other, you have one who's very shy and conservative and one who's brash, arrogant and so sure if himself but they work. They actually completed each other very well, outside forces and a little bit of insecurities might have gotten in the way, in the end they made it which also brought up some interesting characters I can't wait to dive into, this is an amazing read

The book itself is 3.5 rating, but I have more to say about the narration of the audio since everyone else had touched on the book. I'm warming up to Alexander Cendese's narration in the audiobooks since there are a lot of moments where the firefighters are conversing with each other in locker room talk or really intense confrontations. He's fitting for those moments. Hopefully, they would consider having dual narrations for the upcoming Don's Blaze, which Id preordered from B&N.
