Four Houses. Traditions. Secrets. And Romance Waiting At Every Turn. Welcome to Lunar Academy. Which House Will You Choose?
Faith Brooks thinks of the academy as a new beginning. It’s a way for her to put a traumatic event behind her and create a new life for herself. One where she understands her wolf as much as her vampire. And, one where she doesn’t repeat past mistakes by falling for a guy who’s unable to love. Too bad the academy doesn’t teach students to tame their wild hearts as well as their wolves.
Axel Stone is a rough-around-the-edges, tattooed, bad boy. His fists are his only way at maintaining his sanity, but he’s ready to learn more control over his demons. The academy is his ticket to learning how to find balance within himself and to keep a promise he made to someone he lost. No one will distract him from keeping that promise. Until he meets Faith.
Pulled together into the mysterious disappearance of a friend, the two discover the heart wants what the heart wants and love sometimes finds those who aren’t looking.
Alyssa Rose Ivy is the bestselling author of more than forty novels with over one million books sold worldwide. She loves to weave stories with romance and humor, and she is best known for writing about college boys with wings. After surviving law school and earning her masters in library science, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. She lives in Alabama with her two children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
This is it for me and this series. Even though this book did a better job of giving more important information about the wolf bloods it was still too little information. I still have no idea how the magical world is structured. I don't know if it's part of one of these authors' past series so it could maybe justify not having much of world-building. I'd accept an extra introductory chapter at the beginning of each novel with a history lesson about all the magic types and how the world became with it is and why the wolves had to be divided into all these subcategories in the first place.
The characters were only surface deep. I got halfway through this novel so I was expecting more development up to that point. Both main characters have shadowed pasts with mistakes and problems. I would have loved to have gotten more on that but the story just wasn't doing it for me.
The narrators were better but not by much. The female narrator still has barely any range in different tones of voices for male and female characters. She did the most annoying cliche nerdy nasaled voice for the heroes' best friend. The male narrator was a little better considering everyone didn't sound like a douchebag this time around but that was about it. His voice still hasn't won me over and I don't think it's going to at this point because I won't be giving this series another chance.
Its sweet to see Axel have a sweet side, "...I started to walk away, but he grabbed hold of my wrist, forcing me to pause. “About last night,” he said, his voice low. Goose bumps prickled across my skin as I stared into his heated eyes. “It meant something to me, and I just thought you should know.” I liked this book, I really can't wait for more in the series.
Alyssa Rose Ivy and Jennifer Snyder continue to build their super secret lunar world filled with wolfshifters, magic and mystery in their second installment of the Lunar Academy series. In Wolf Blood, book two, we meet two shifters who are hybrid of vampire and wolf. Both Axel and Faith come from different backgrounds but have faced very similar turbulent history. Both coming to Lunar Academy to find a new life, a new way of living and starting over.
Within just a few short chapters Ivy and Snyder pull you into their tangled web of mystery and surprise shedding new tiny bits of information on the Elite Society. While this is mentioned and some of the characters appear in book one, Wolf Born, this can still be read as a standalone. Ivy and Snyder have a unique way of presenting their story line. It appears that each house will start to uncover the mystery surrounding Elite. I would expect both book three and four to focus on Wolf Bound- witch/werewolf and Wolf Bitten- I assume human/werewolf. Both authors create a subtle nod back to Harry Potter with their houses, uniforms and common areas. While this story is focused around college age students, rather than first years, Ivy and Snyder still create a unique spin on a shifter trope that I have yet to see.
Mystery, magic and romance are just a few things this new exciting series has to offer. While this novel didn't answer any more questions for me as to what is to happen to our characters, it has sparked yet another intrigue of interest as to how these two ladies will play their story out. One thing is for sure the imagination of these two will leave you with endless outcomes and possibilities as for what is to come!
This is book two for the lunar academy! Its not necessary to read the first one Wolf Born since it’s different characters but one thing in common is the same antagonist. However it’s amazing so i encourage you because i loved book one! This one delivers as well but i got different vibes 💔. Half of the book our leads Faith and Axel were separately telling their own story and explaining their past. They were not together which was a bummer..until the very end when one of their friend goes missing. Im a romantic so for me romance is a must! I wish they had more interactions sooner versus the end.I was happy a few characters appear from book one 💙#myboys#Grayson#Finn. it didn’t end on a cliffhanger but still left a-lot of questions unanswered. i read this with my kindle unlimited. ps. i have a huge crush on Lee!!! #coolSidekick#nerdalert
Wolf Blood by Alyssa Rose Ivy and Jennifer Snyder a five-star read you would bleed for. This is the second novel of year one in the Lunar Academy and it tells us the story from the Wolf Blood House perspective this time we get to see the challenges faced by hybrids at the academy. Faith Brooks is running, running from her past and towards her future, but what future will that be? She roars to life and brings a freshness to this story; she is a feisty lady and written in the way that you will find her endearing and strong. She is the yin to Axels yang she can show him there is light after the shadows, but will they get lost before they find the light? This is a compelling story and reveals a little more of the puzzle, I cant wait until we get the next house, who will we meet next.
The second installment of the Lunar Academy was great! I have to admit, I did spend a lot of the beginning of the book wondering when (and if) we were going to get back to the mystery from book 1, but it does all circle round. I think I actually liked these characters more than Nadia and Ryan. Maybe it's the tattoos and motorcycles. I do feel like I got a good backstory of Faith, but I feel a little confused still on Axel. I understand his heartache at what happened, but I didn't quite get how it correlates to a lack of control. That's the only reason I took off a star. I'm willing to go with it, though! I really did love these characters, and the ending...what a cliffhanger!! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
****I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**** OMG Two of my favorite authors teamed up to write a book together and it is AHH...MAZE.....ING! p. Sometimes there is just the right book to get you out of a reading funk and this was it! This book keeps you captivated throughout the entire book and you just want to finish it to see what happens. Faith and Axel are HOT together. This is definitely a slow burn romance, but you still get the feels in this book! I cant wait to see what book 3 holds for these two and all the other characters I love to hate and hate to love and then the ones in between where I am not sure if I trust them yet.
Faith is now at Lunar Academy for her first year as a Wolf Blood. She has many secrets and is now receiving mysterious texts that scare her. Axel is also in his first year as a Wolf Blood and not interested at all in meeting any women due to the death of his girlfriend about eight months ago. Until he meets Faith. The electricity between them is off the charts, but will they act on it? What is the chilling secret at the academy and what danger will it bring? Fantastic addition to this wonderful series and cannot wait for the next one.
I’m so loving this series so far. New characters in this book as it revolves around people in a different dorm on the same school campus but you begin to see how the pieces are starting to come together. You see familiar names pop up from the previous book. Very intriguing so far. I love puzzles and this is like a puzzle for me. I am ready for the next group of pieces to complete the next section. I can’t wait until all the pieces come together to finish the whole picture/story. Love it!
What a build up! Why didnt the crew get together??? They were right there, they could have been such a good group to take everything on. Yet, nothing. They never became friends???
Once again not much happens but the characters have potential. But the romance was slightly disappointing. I liked axel and lee friendship it was nice seeing opposites get along.
Wow Axel and Faith have amazing chemistry together and I was so happy to see Nora and Lee get together. The endings are strange though hoping that they all tie in together at the end.
The story had great potential but was not developed enough. The ending left me feeling unfulfilled. The characters were interesting but I didn’t learn enough about them
Adult content, reader discretion advised. Axel and Faith follow Lee down a proverbial rabbit hole. Dragging Nora after them. The vampire/werewolf hybrids all get in over their heads researching asecret society.
There was a bit of overlap from Book 1 to Book 2- mainly what was obvious to me was that Lee was asked for more info about the "secret society" and his interest made him a target. I am wondering how this series is going to come together as these characters stories didn't feel complete to me. Unsure if Faith and Axel will be in future books or if next books will just be about the 2 remaining Houses- Wold Bound and Wolf Bitten.
RATING: 3.8-⭐ AGE: Pg-18 (college setting- too much info about sex for kids under 18) SERIES: LUNAR ACADEMY
It was good each book in the series is about a different type of wolf mixed with different paranormals. There is mystery that connects all the different types. Mrs.C. 💋
