i have somehow become a bit more invested in these idiots, and... this volume is quite Kanoko-side heavy, plus whats this? More shades of yuri finally happening???
Overall, it's now so much obvious how the main cast is just 5 girls of Lonely Tropes walking around
The final chapter with summer uniform changeover is cute and funny. Absolutely best part
While I understand the importance of the arc, I still don't care about Kanoko and Sumika, sowwy. It's fun making it a tragic love story, but like... I feel it could've been more interesting if Kanoko actually butt heads with Mitsuki. Honestly, weird they haven't interacted yet. But, good for development and giving more background to the cafe, especially with random introduction/reveal of Nene.
I think it was pretty funny Minam wanted a “swimsuit episode” and went with the summer outfits. Fits well to the story and isn’t insanely creepy but is hilarious as hell.

Not much I want to add, other than I'm amused by Kanoko telling Sumika that Hime doesn't "love" anyone other than her, which is a platonic love at this point. I'm amused because Hime clearly does care about others (as I've mentioned before) and it's clear that while Kanoko likes to think that she knows everything about Hime, it's also obvious that she doesn't see how complex Hime is and rather is resting on her laurels as the only person Hime "loves". Just a fun thing I picked up during my reread, which is why I LOVE rereading manga! You always pick up on something new that makes the series that much better! (Or worse, depending on what you're reading).
Original review posted on 7/29/19:
This was a satisfying conclusion to the drama surrounding Sumika, Kanoko, and Hime. Tachibana's reasons for wanting to keep romance out of the salon was understandable and I liked how she comes across as someone who has to help people, even if they don't want it. She's overbearing but only wants whats best for everyone. While I wasn't surprised that she and Kanoko ended up as Schwesterns, I like why they decided to pair up. Granted, the idea of someone not understanding love teaming up with someone who is in love isn't new, but the reasons why they teamed up seem believable.
I'm glad the final chapter was comical to take the edge off of the copious amounts of drama in the previous chapters (and really all of the last volume) so a little humor went a long way here. The side stories at the end were nice and the extra backstory regarding Nene and Sumika was intriguing. I'm hoping to get more backstory on why Nene chose to continue working at the salon despite everything that happened and am curious as to whether Goeido will make an appearance later on. This was a really good volume that settled the drama in a satisfying way while adding characterization to Sumika as well as providing backstory on the salon's former employees. I'm looking forward to volume 5, I can't imagine what'll happen next!
Note: some spoilers but hopefully you have read the other books before this
I put Low Steam because there is a bit at the end about Yano being well endowed and a couple of kisses in a flashback.
Quick Thoughts: - Now we get some of Sumika’s backstory and it explains why she is so committed to keeping things as they are in the cafe - We get more of the real Sumika and not just her character she plays in the cafe and that helps explain her motivations on how she behaves - Enjoyed the introduction of Nene and her story and I hope she stays a character we see - We get the Bloom winner! - I think Sumika will be awesome for Kanoko. Sumika likes reading and taking care of others, Kanoko also likes reading and needs a bit taken care of - Finally more interaction between Hime and Yano though not nearly as much as in volumes 1 & 2 - Really liked the last chapter. There was so much drama in the previous volume and this one it was nice to laugh. Yano relaxing with Hime was adorable and then Hime defending Yano was awesome.
Overall an excellent conclusion to this angsty arc and the start of something new that could be really awesome. I’m excited for the next volume and seeing where the creator takes the story. It’s a bit hard to “review” each book in a manga series so they may end up more like recaps. Oops.
We find out why Tachibana is so adamant about not bringing romance into the salon through her past and, while it was the most interesting part of this arc, it was really predictable. Kanoko, the conniving stalker, was still the center of everything. There were a lot of anime tropes in this that I did not care for. Tachibana and Kanoko come to some sort of understanding that was supposed to be a shippable moment but I literally could not care. I usually like learning more about side characters, but Kanoko is so problematic and unlikable, you can't help rooting against her. We got a glimpse of a few cute Hime/Yano moments in the last chapter, but it was full of bodyshaming because Yano has giant anime tiddies and her literally just standing around was being "too scandalous" *intense eyerolling* If the writing keeps veering off of the main ship and doing annoying arcs, I might drop this series entirely.
This is a great resolution to the drama of this arc of the story; the unstable love triangle at the Liebe Girls' Academy cafe comes to a head, we discover a tragic romance from the past, and hearts are bared as the girls try to balance their cafe personas, their public faces, and the secrets they hold most dear. I really love what this story has been doing with the idea of performing for other people vs your private self, and the added layers of acting in the cafe are delicious highlights to the theme. Then, once everything's settled into a new configuration, we get an episode of summer uniforms -- which show off Yano-san's body a bit more than Hime-chan is comfortable with. It's a really cute way to close out this volume, and leaves me looking forward to finding out what happens next in their stories.
Vol 4 dips slightly into angsty territory by filling out the backstory of Liebe Academy, and just how much trauma Sumika has over mixing real romance with the job. Kanoko is a breath of bittersweet air, and an example of a love angle that isn’t that common in yuri stories, used to great effect in this volume. I’m hoping to see more development with Hime and Yano, but Sumika has definitely jumped up from the ‘slightly annoying meddlesome’ character and is developing into someone to care about and root for. The summer uniform chapter was also super cute and handled well imo.
Loved this so much it made me pull the previous volumes off the shelf and reread the entire series. It just keeps getting better and more interesting. I’m really engaged and have been pleasantly surprised every volume how the story unfolds. Also, absolutely love how the creator draws character expressions and reactions!
