I've never been the type to get on the wrong side of the law until the day I did. I was given two options, to either go to jail for a very long time or become an agent for the CIA. I'm unlike any other agent, though. Most of my colleagues don't have families like I do. You see, I'm Romanian and the purest of blood flows through my veins.
Since time has passed I believe I was targeted because of who I know. Otherwise I wouldn't have been sent on this mission, to take down Franco Falcone of the New York Crime Family.
There's just one problem, my mission requires me to act like I'm interested in him. If my heart didn't belong to another this could be easy, but it isn't because my heart belongs to Marcellus Baptiste.

Humm...Not sure where to start with this one other than the fact that I had a lot of mixed feelings about the story and although I didn't love it I didn't hate it but, for me I just could not connect with the characters as they were like-able but, not love-able.
I thinks the bottom line is that these authors did not give you enough time to bond with these characters if you had already read some of the previous books in this series you might have already known somethings about them but, for us just coming into the series we new very few facts about them other then a few things that were mentioned in passing so this did not give a chance to get to know more about their past of present other that the facts of what clan they worked and belonged to and what they did for a living although we rationed out how this couple was already connected to one another . The other thing that did not work for me is where was the part that engaged the readers emotions because I felt that every move made just felt clinical as well as cut and dry.

Isabella is forced to go under for the CIA really being blackmailed and although they tried to give her some tools to protect her they were not enough and Isabella already knew what kind of man she would be dealing with and expected that she would have to make personal sacrifices so she wanted to have a choice in giving something like her virginity away to someone she loved without it being taken from her.The whole scene just played out and it was like no feelings were even involved at all and for me and doing the whole deed was just like they were going through the motions and it was like their was no connection between the characters at all. This should have been down right hot and scorching for this couple as she was secretly in love with Marcellus for years and even though Marcellus never admitted it he lusted after her for years so where was all the passion the fire the build up in their coming together ? Their intimate moments should have been explosive!
After everything that Isabella endured at the hands of a monster she just seems to go on with her life as if nothing tragic/sick/painful just happened to her as their is no breakdown ? no emotional pain?nothing?she showed no emotions what so ever and even after her explaining and Marcellus hearing her story that man should have been a raving lunatic out for blood and revenge and wanting vengeance "yes", he was pissed but, he should have wanted to be the one to take out anyone who hurt her and we understood that others parties involved had a stake in what was happening and not that we expected him to carry out any of these things because of the circumstances but, he sure as hell should have wanted to do these things to avenge a women who belonged to him and in there lies yet another problem when I said I felt no emotional attachment to any of these characters he was a made man in the mafia for christ sakes and then you had the fact that not once did I hear these two main characters say I love you face to face.
I know this book is fictional and sometimes as readers we have to keep reminding ourselves when reading stories like this and that their not real but, the reason we read stories with fictional mafia related characters is for the fact their filled with danger and suspense and a whole lot of hot alpha men then you have the twisted plots and the excitement and plots that engage the readers emotions to the tune you have a personal stake in their outcome an so forth and all these things just fell flat for me in this story because I felt all these things were missing from this ongoing story.
Although this story was not personally for us it was enjoyable enough to pass the time and we did like the fact the we were indeed surprised that the CIA had another fish on their hook as they say to do their dirty work for them and that was a big surprise that we didn't see coming of who that person was "so", we did indeed love that part.

Oh man where do I begin on this review..... I have so many thoughts running through my mind that I don't know where to start. I mean Elizabeth and Iris knocked this baby out the park. As soon as I started reading it I knew I was not going to be able to put it down because it had me hooked.
This is Isabella and Marcel and dam what a story it is. Poor Isabella being asked to do the unthinkable but needing to do it because she wanted her freedom and her freedom came at a huge cost. So she is asked to go on this dangerous mission and she agrees as long as she and her father are safe. Only their is one thing keeping her from doing her job effectively and that is her heart.
Can she go against her heart or will it be her downfall??????? You have to read this to find out. Let me tell you this series is worth reading because it hooks you in and keeps you there until the end.

Have you been following "The Clans"? If you have, then you're relatively familiar with the cast of characters Elizabeth Knox and Iris Sweetwater have created for us. If you haven't, then welcome to their world because you're in for one hell of a ride!! "The Cover" is the story of Isa and Marcel. She's had a full-blown crush on him seemingly forever. He's just come to the realization Isa is no longer a gangly little girl with a crush and he wants her to be his. Timing is of the essence here as the CIA gets involved and then ultimately, the FBI. Now we have a secretive, undercover mission going that continues to take us for an exhilarating ride on an emotional rollercoaster all while the sexual tension between our hero and heroine continue to build. You don't want to miss this one!

Great story
Another great installment in this series. These authors have created some amazing characters. This was Isabella and Marcel's story and it is a pretty dark one. From the first page you will be pulled in and captivated til you finish. I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next book.

this was a really great book! its book nine in this series. she is to go under cover to bring down a bad man. only she must act like she is interested in him. only her heart belongs to another man. there are so really bad parts in this book and not for the weak to read.

Isabella is the daughter of the accountant for the Funar Clan. Isabella is grabbed by the FBI because she signed off on a shipment for her father. The shipment ended up being guns going to Tehran. Isabella had no idea but the FBI wanted her to infiltrate the Falcones, a mafia family. Marcel is the head of the Funar Clan. He is a single man and the King and Queen of the Clans has been wanting him to marry. Isabella has had a crush on Marcel since she was young. She grew up with Aria and Marcel. After the bombing at a Clan wedding that both Isabella and Marcel attended Marcel realized that he was looking at Isabella differently and he wanted to get to know her in a more intimate way. Marcel found out that Isabella was working for the CIA and trying to infiltrate the Falcones. Before Isabella was to meet with Franco Falcone Marcel decided that Isabella should lose her virginity in a nice way so they ended up having sex. Isabella went with Franco and his family to the Hamptons but things went sideways when she got caught snooping. Marcel got a call from Madigan from the Steele family and she was looking for her brother Christian. As Marcel and Madigan were going to go look for Christian he showed up and they were trying to get to the car when Madigan was taken. Madigan had been involved with a Falcone before. After Isabella was caught they took her to a butcher shop where they were holding Madigan. Marcel is trying to decide whether to look for Isabella or wait. Isabella is raped by the men who work for Franco Falcone for a whole day. Madigan was pregnant and Franco cut out the baby and left her to die. Will Isabella and Madigan get saved? Will Marcel and Isabella actually get to have a relationship? Will Isabella finally get her man?

Great!
I chose this rating because I enjoyed this book.pretty well. I enjoyed most of the characters as well. This was a book of betrayal, manipulation, compassion, revenge, and protecting the one that you are love. Pretty good read. I recommend this book to all romance readers.

Marcellus & Isabella
Elizabeth Knox & Iris Sweetwater, oh my, loved this Covert (The Clans Book 9). Although there ere some really hard truths that occurred, this story captivated me. Can’t wait to read Book 10.

Covert (The Clans, Book 9) is jammed packed with action, secrets and truths coming out. With unexpected twists swirling through the pages with this covert undercover operation. A intriguing twist on a dark mafia storyline. Looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series.
Amber Bray's naration is entertaining to listen to. Her inflection changes wirh the characters and their emotions.

I love this book! This is the 9th book in the series and if you have been reading the series you'll know that the books just keep getting better! You get to see how all her book series connect and it just makes the the stories even better! If not, you could still read it as a standalone and it's still great! Anyways, I love seeing the characters of other books show up in this book - it makes it more fun to read them. This book is about the story of Isabella and Marcel; you get to see how they end up together - all the ups and downs they have to pass to get their HEA. I highly recommend this series; it's great!

A great story
This was an intriguing story with a lot of emotional aspects. It has a few scenes of detailed abuse and violence that may be a trigger for some. Also, some of the unanswered questions from the previous book were included in this story, which I did appreciate, but wish that there would have been more details regarding some of it. JMO!
Overall, it was a terrific book that I enjoyed.
I would recommend this book, series, and authors.

I am in love with this series. This is the ninth book and it is Marcel and Isabella’s story. Isabella has always had a crush on her best friend’s brother, but she never thought he would go for a girl like her. With his father’s passing, Marcel is now the head of the Funar clan. This starts right where the last one ended. You find out who lived and who died. Prior to all this Isabella was nabbed and forced to work for the CIA, because of the crimes her father committed and she signed for. He pretty much left her to take the fall. Now she is going after the Falcones, the sickest crime family ever. There is a lot of action, secrets, truths and some twists that are thought the books. When Marcel finds out what Isabella is doing, he wants to keep her safe and protected. You will be taken a bit on an emotional ride. You will see some faces you may or may not have seen in other series. I could not put this down until I was finished. It is a story that had me hooked from the beginning and I loved most of the characters. Snatch this up and see what happens when someone connected to the Clans has to work for the government undercover.

Marcel finds out what Isabella is doing and every instinct of his has him doing everything he can to protect the woman he has come to realize is meant to be his everything.
This story pulled me in from the first chapter, I read it in one sitting because I had to see if our two main characters got their happily ever after and if the Falcones were shut down once and for all. Elizabeth and Iris know how to write and build a world full of characters that will stick with you. There are even appearances of characters from previous books within the story. You don’t have to read the previous books in the series to follow this storyline, but it helps since there are re-appearances. I was not able to put this book down once I started to read, looking forward to the next book.

Another fantastic Clan story!
This is Isabella and Marcel’s story. It does have some triggers, there is rape. If you aren’t comfortable with that, I would advise to steer clear. If you can handle it, strap yourself in for a fantastic suspense filled page turner!

Her father, a clan accountant, wants her to marry within the clan, but he gets her into trouble when he sends her to sign off on a shipment where the boat sinks and the Feds find arms going to Tehran...she is recruited to go after the source of the shipment, the Falcone Mafia family with the promise of going back to her life after job complete. A newish author to me and I have to say I’m loving this series. This book in particular is quite an intense ride. This story is about Marcel Funar. Covert is the ninth book in The Clans series which features Isabella, who is forced to infiltrate the Franco Crime Family by the CIA, and Marcellus, who attempts to protect her. I recommend this well written and suspenseful novel which has a complex plot, wonderfully developed characters, violence, danger, intrigue, steamy chemistry, and passionate love.

Marcel and Isabella’s story is one hell of a roller coaster ride of action, suspense and intense sexual tension. You won’t want to put this one down as it will hook you right from the start. The chemistry between these two characters is powerful and highly combustible. There are so many little twists and turns throughout that will definitely keep you highly entertained and captivated. This is definitely a thrill ride of epic proportions.
Phenomenal writing and storytelling once again from these two amazing authors. I need more!

Targeted and forced to go undercover
Covert is the ninth book in The Clans series. I found the story-line interesting and the characters were intriguing but I was not completely enamored of it overall. The story itself seemed disjointed and the writing did not flow as well as some of the other books by Elizabeth Knox. I had a hard time following some of the story and would have liked more depth to the characters and some additional time and detail in certain parts. Overall for me it was an okay read but not my favorite by this author and I am peeved about that as the book description looked like it was going to be really interesting.

Covert is the ninth book in The Clans series. I found the story-line interesting and the characters were intriguing but I was not completely enamored of it overall. The story itself seemed disjointed and the writing did not flow as well as some of the other books by Elizabeth Knox. I had a hard time following some of the story and would have liked more depth to the characters and some additional time and detail in certain parts. Overall for me it was an okay read but not my favorite by this author and I am peeved about that as the book description looked like it was going to be really interesting.

I've read several books written by Elizabeth Knox; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

This story was full of suspense, intrigue and subterfuge. I liked how the author captured my interest by creating characters who were so lifelike, they bled of the pages of this book. I thought the chemistry between the characters was amazing and definitely helped to keep my interest. Great storytelling

I love this series, it just keeps getting better and better with each new book.
This series intertwines with other series to keep you in your seats. They are the Steel Brothers and the Skull Renegades MC, they help each other out when needed.
This is about a girls crush that turns in to love, but with the government agencies that have to cause problems while trying to solve them.
Isabella, gets caught up in her dads a handy business deals, and is forced to turn informant in order to stay out of jail.Marcus here’s about it and goes to keep and eye on her and to try to keep and eye on her also.
This is easier said then done, she is going after a big arms and sex trafficating ,bad guy, but they tell her that she should do anything to get the info the agencies need. That doesn’t work to well for her, she gets caught and has to be rescued by the Steel brothers and Marcus.
They take the bad guy down and figure out that they were made for each other.

Isabella's father has screwed her over ,she has just been taken in by the CIA and accused of something her father had her do. She pleads innocent but she was the one to sign the papers she has no way out. When they offer her a deal to go undercover for them she takes the deal what else can she do. She must clear her name and get on with her life. Knowing that this is going to be hard to keep it quiet but she must ,being part of The Clans and the Mafia being involved her safety is at stake.
