Untangling secrets at a historic beach inn has unimagined surprises.

With the high summer season underway at the Seabreeze Inn, Ivy faces a fresh round of new challenges and reasons to celebrate. She has just one season to make the inn successful enough to pay the tax bill her late husband burdened her with. And her neighbor’s lawsuit could mean an end to the Seabreeze Inn. Yet her daughter Sunny’s arrival is also a chance to renew their relationship.

While Bennett is developing deeper feelings for Ivy, new trials are weighing on their relationship. Sensing Ivy’s loss of the departure of her sister Shelly, Bennett encourages Mitch to reach out to Shelly in New York. And when Ivy’s daughter Sunny arrives in Summer Beach, she fears her mother is replacing their late father with Bennett.

Amid the turmoil, Ivy stumbles across another clue from the old house’s original owner, whose surprising, inspiring story causes everyone to reflect on what the house means to them.

This is the third installment of the Summer Beach series, and with each installment the story just gets better and better. I have loved the evolution of the characters as the series has progressed. As much as I loved Moran’s “Love, California” series, there was not this gentle evolution.

I have loved the progression of both Ivy’s and Shelly’s romances; and the journey as Ivy has fought to maintain the historic, beautiful, mysterious Seabreeze Inn. The cast of characters has grown with delightful (and some not so delightful) people. And I must mention Pixie, the cute little kleptomaniac Chihuahua.

In “Seabreeze Sunset”, Ivy faces another challenge to ownership of the lovely inn. Between the tax bill looming over her head and this latest serious threat, will she be able to hang on to the inn? Shelly hit a bumpy spot with her love interest Mitch and went back to New York City. Will she return to help Ivy? Ivy’s spoiled younger daughter Sunny presents challenges that further threaten Ivy’s new life and her romance with the mayor, Bennett. And the mysterious Amelia Erickson, former owner of the house, has more surprises in store for Ivy.

I highly recommend this fun, heartfelt series. I look forward (hopefully) to more in this series.

Delightful!

As if I wasn't addicted to this series since the first page of the first book, this new one comes along. It's one of those books that kept me up all night to read it, I could not put it down. Ivy is a great character but is also surrounded by other great characters who all come together to create this amazing story, which I sincerely hope has more to it. Thrown into the chaos of her dead husband's deception, Ivy starts on a fantastic adventure filled with mysteries of the past and excitement of discovering them all while trying to survive. It's a breathless series of events that are hopeful and heartwarming. I really love this group that comes together and somehow they all are intricately weaved together and enrich each others lives. Ivy and her family are the type of family that I am sure everyone wishes they had, from Shelly that we get to see a lot of to their siblings to Sunny her spoiled daughter. Even Sunny adds to this book in a good way. I especially love the historical discoveries that come about and gives the inn a magical quality. One of my favorite series of all time.

Good read, but not realistic in Ivy/Bennett relationship

I enjoyed the 3 books, but I thought the relationship between Ivy and Bennett was drawn out too long. Would any one take that long to decide if they wanted to get involved???? I get she was hurt by her husband’s actions, but really.... was very frustrating. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you’ve read the first two books, then the story continues with financial worries about losing the Inn as well as a new threatening complication. There is another big hidden find in the house, plus more is revealed about the previous owner and what she is up to. The house finds keep me reading but I was rolling my eyes on the overly perfect way things always come together… all the crazy ideas that just magically work out because everyone has just the specific skill set to make it happen and is willing to jump right in and get it done, usually without pay. I won’t even harp on the predictability of the romances as by now that a total given.

The characters continue to be too unbelievable and the solutions too pat. I hated the spoiled daughter and found her transformation to be just ridiculous. The mistress was a close second. But yet I chose to read it, so there you go.

Finished Book 3 in 1 day. Will the Seabreeze Inn be saved? With the mystery of Amelia, back taxes, Paisley and Dex threats (new to this saga), and Ivy’s daughter Sunny’s antics you never know how it will end. All the rest of the characters make an appearance for a fun adventure. I love picturing the art, photos and newly discovered rooms as well as the beach community.
Book 4 releases 11/17/2020 but so far only see in Kindle. Oh, and there is a book 5 slated for May 2021, so more fun ahead.
Enjoy.

Another hit on Summer Beach. Ivy and Shelly's latest adventure involves the settling of old scores and new beginnings of the heart. This series is never short of drama but always full of heart. I find myself identifying with the characters, especially Poppy. I KNEW exactly what Poppy would have done because it was what I would have done. While Ivy and Shelly are cool, Poppy makes the series pop. Onto the next one.

*I listened to this book via scribd

Ivy is getting a little predictable. I get that she's been through a lot, but she's still so wishy washy in regards to Bennett. Also, her daughter Sunni is a spoiled brat.

Listening to the next book to find out what happens with the *current* lawsuit

I really enjoyed this series. It was an easy read with relatable characters. And the ending of each book was a bit of a cliffhanger, so I felt compelled to go onto the next book in the series when I started out with the intention of reading only the first book.

This is book three in the Summer Beach series and continues the struggles of the main character Ivy as she tries to make a success out of the Seabreeze Inn. She found out her husband had used all their retirement money to buy the decrepit property, whilst in the midst of an affair with a much younger woman and then dying without telling Ivy about any of this. Ivy’s sister had been helping her out with the Inn, but Shelley has now gone back to the big city to try her life out there again and left Mitch not knowing if they will be able to make anything of the relationship he had hoped was starting.

Ivy also has a close friendship with Bennett, the town mayor, who has been staying at the Inn since his and many other residents were destroyed in a massive forest fire. This calamity has brought customers to Ivy’s door, but also new and close friendships. Her relationship with Bennett is turning into a comfortable, but slow moving romance and she is happy to keep it at that level after all the shocks of her husband’s secret life were revealed. Unfortunately, this book will reveal another secret, which may leave her losing everything she has been working so hard for. Her husband’s purchase of the Inn just before his death, has left her with a huge tax bill to pay and a significantly reduced income to live with, something her two daughters have taken a while to realise.

Sunny, her daughter, believes that Ivy is trying to punish her and refuses to believe her perfect father could ever have treated her this way and that her mother is being spiteful in telling her she needs to leave college and must either come home to the Inn or get a job and learn to keep herself. Obviously her relationship with her mother is quite strained. Ivy’s other daughter soon learnt that her mum was struggling after her father’ death and doesn’t blame her mother. Ivy and Shelley had fun finding secret hiding areas in the old Inn as they were renovating it, which led to artwork being discovered and the FBI getting involved. It seems the previous homeowner was very eccentric, an art collector along with her husband, but probably had dementia as she got older and hid things in some weird places.

Secrets are still being revealed in this old building and events are coming which will put Ivy in a perilous position yet again. Someone else is going to try and take the building away from her and she still has the complaint from the grumpy next door neighbour to contend with. Her starting relationship with Bennett and his position as the mayor make each of these cases more complex for Ivy to fight against. Lots of intrigue and a lot of history coming from the research Ivy and others are completing on this old building and its previous owner. It has an important place in the local community and the role it is doing at the moment, keeping a lot of the residents who lost their homes, in the area, is soon going to end. Ivy needs to come up with more ideas for all the rooms in the Inn and new ways to generate income.

A fine addition to the series, which sees Ivy almost succeeding in her ability to pay the huge tax bill, and then having unexpected events occur which may derail everything she has been trying to do in the last year! Lots of turmoil will add stress to Ivy’s life, most of it out of her control. She has friends amongst her guests and those in the small town, who have come to her aid ad will help her in any way they can. Having family close by also helps with repairs and events that take place. Another great read, with lots of surprises thrown into the mix. I look forward to reading more in the series, when the next book comes out. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Seabreeze Sunset is the third book in the Summer Beach Series. Jan Moran does a great job recapping the first two books in the first chapter so if you didn't read the first book and happen to pick this up you would be able to know what happened in the previous books. Of course, the first two books were fun and as a reader you become invested in the characters of Summer Beach.

Book three opens with a rain storm and damage sustained by The Summer Beach Inn, Ivy's sister Shelly in NYC, and neighbor Darla filed a lawsuit against Ivy and The Summer Beach Inn. Ivy's daughter Sunny doesn't want to leave Europe when money runs out and Ivy gets a visit from Paisley who is her late husband's mistress. Summer Beach's mayor Bennett is falling in love with Ivy, but will Ivy be able to decide what she really wants in her heart. The art show helps Ivy bring more people and money into the Seabreeze Inn in order to hopefully have enough money for the tax bill.

Gossip continues to travel through the residents of Summer Beach and returning characters continue to help Ivy and the Seabreeze Inn be successful.

Notes below the line are for me to remember the story.
-------------------------------------------

1. The art show brings in the needed funds for Ivy to pay the tax bill and keep The Seabreeze Inn from being auctioned. She is also able to pay the five figure airline ticket to bring her daughter Sunny back from Europe. Sunny is a spoiled brat at the beginning of the story, but eventually comes around toward the end.

2. Darla drops the lawsuit after Ivy helps her through a panic attack.

3. Shelly moves back to Summer Beach and ends up with Mitch.

4. Amani continues on as Ivy's lawyer, Meghan is working on the documentary of Amelia Erickson, and Paisley (Jeremy's mistress) tries to make amends with Ivy and then she and boyfriend Dexter file a suit to try to claim the Seabreeze Inn is partially for Paisley.

5. Paisley drops the suit and Ivy and Amani get her into a battered woman's shelter.

6. Bennett and Ivy finally end up together.

7. Ivy finds a bunk room in the attic after her ceiling needs to be replaced and diary from Amelia Erickson. After Meghan digitizes the film footage a lip reader is able to make sense of the silent film. Amelia was rescuing the paintings, jewels, etc from the Nazis during World War II.

This series is light and quite fun. I did find this third book to be a bit repetitive and predictable. I enjoy the characters in this series very much, though am often frustrated with Ivy’s character. Her tendency to worry, over analyze and look at the negative side of things gets tiresome by book 3.

Nice beach read...fun and relaxing. Just a bit redundant. Nice twists to plot, but it seemed to linger on the obvious and rehashed several emotions of some of the characters.

Seabreeze Sunset #3 - I enjoyed reading this trilogy and returning to the Summer Beach Series, but Sunset is the best. Without going into book report mode, there is a lot going on in Ivy's life. There are the expected twists but the unexpected neckbreaking jerks are wild.

Amelia gets her due and all the questions are answered but the reader knows this will happen. It is the mistress of Ivy's husband that just opens a whole new can of continuous surprises and Oh, poos. Ivy's spoilt youngest daughter adds her weight to Ivy's woes. Lot of woes that are balanced out with the love and support of family, friends and community.

The pace never slows down. While this book can be read as is, the impact of story really needs the foundation built by the two previous books. This is one of those series that is worth investing your time to read. I found this book on Booksprout. 5*

The Summer Beach Series:
Seabreeze Inn #1 – This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the story. I thought Ivy was a bit too much with her constant treatment of Bennett; she is too old for such immature behavior. The story was too good to put down and I really liked all the characters, even Ivy after she wised up. The family, the town and the friends were all a good match to the good storylines. There was a good mystery about the previous owner and some items, and a bit of intrigue about Ivy’s deceased husband. There are always rumors in a small town and Ivy heard them. The story is complete but this is the first of a series and I am interested in the next book. 4*

Seabreeze Summer #2 - Picks up the next day from where Seabreeze Inn ended. The storylines are interesting and I like that Amelia is still plays a great part when the house gives up another secret. More characters are introduced ranging from locals to family. The romances are out in the open. While parts of the redundancies in Ivy's head bored me, overall this is still a good read but not as good as S. Inn. Everyone did Mitch wrong, especially Bennett, which disappointed me since I expected better of the group. The one responsible is too easy to figure out. 4*
The Summer Beach Series end.

The Chocolatier - I enjoyed several books by this author, but is my favorite. The multiple storylines, the multiple countries, the multiple time frames all blend together into a heartwarming, heartbreaking, heartfelt story impossible to put down. The range of emotions from pure joy to sheer terror add to the rollercoaster ride through love, deception, survival, guilt, determination and perseverance.

One woman deceived by a loving, tormented husband opens a new world when contacting his estranged family about his death and their child. The decisions, the battles and the secrets she surmounts in order to bring happiness to everyone so she may remarry the new love of her life and have the family she needs and wants.

All the characters are just what the story needs. The loving, the miserable, the protective, the lost and the hiding, combined with plenty of danger and searches, weave a rich tapestry filled with good and decency.

I enjoy that this rich, substantial book is a melting pot of people, history, morals, chocolate and taking the right path through life. A clean read without explicit sex or vulgar language, but a book to savor and get lost in the pages. My complaint about this book is the lack of chocolate samples for the reader. I found this author on Booksprout. 5*

A beautiful ending to a beautiful series.

Ivy is trying to hold down all the duties at the inn with her niece Poppy since Shelly decided to go back to New York. They are doing great, but the large back tax bill is still weighing heavily on Ivy's mind. Since her husband died and left her this huge historic home spending all their retirement income, without Ivy's knowledge, she has been trying to save the home and start a new life in Summer Beach. Things seem to be going well until something unexpected pops up, and Ivy is stressing. Maybe the art show they are hosting will help clear up some of the debt.

Along with welcoming guests to the inn, Ivy discovers another secret of the past owner Amelia. So far they have uncovered treasured artwork that was believed stolen and then priceless jewels. All which Ivy turned over to the FBI. When Ivy finds yet another treasure in the house, things start to piece together in the elusive past of the original owner Amelia.

Now throw the "other woman" that Ivy has found out about since arriving into town, into the mix and things heat up. Can Ivy believe what she is saying? Just how much trouble will she add to the sometimes insurmountable stack of worries?

What about Bennett and Ivy? Will they finally have a chance at love? He won't give up, but is she ready to trust someone with her heart?

I absolutely loved this third book in the Summer Beach series. It was so nice to see how Ivy and Shelly's stories turned out along with all the supporting characters. I saw so much growth in the characters over the three books and I love how the story continued from each one. It was a pleasure to read these amazing works of art by Jan Moran. She is a fabulous author. This is one series you don't want to miss!

This is the third, and possibly final, installment in this series; although, I hope more follow. I’ve loved it all the way through. The characters are what truly brings this story to life. Ivy, Shelly, Mitch, and Bennet; they ring true.

The story is very sweet, but not overly so. There’s a lot going on at the inn, making sure that Ivy has her hands full. Luckily her niece, Poppy, is there to lend a helping hand. More secrets from the original owner show up that answer some questions from the first two books, and add new puzzles for Ivy, Poppy, and Shelly to solve. Then, Ivy’s late husband’s mistress makes an appearance or two. What’s her purpose in contacting Ivy? What does she want? Does she show up to cause more problems for Ivy?

Then Mitch decides he must do something to straighten things out with Shelly. Will his actions be enough to convince her that he’s a good guy? Will she return to Summer Beach and the inn? Bennet’s obviously a great person, but can he convince Ivy of that fact? Can he make her trust him? Can she trust anyone after what her husband did?

I loved this book, and should the series not continue, the book offered a comfortable ending to Ivy’s saga. The writing is good, the story flows, and, as I said, the characters are what really sells this series.

I received an advance reader’s copy of this book. I thank the author for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

I was a fan of the series with book 1 and it has continued to deliver through the final book in the series. I loved that it had sisters: Ivy in her 40s and Shelly in her 30s.

Ivy has been trying to resolve get feelings about her dead husband, his betrayal, and the financial mess he left her as well as her first love and the mystery of the previous owner of the beach house.

Shelly is guarded against Mitch with his criminal past and younger age. She has to decide whether it will NY or California for her.

Then there are the many secondary characters who enliven it with quirkyness, humor, and a sense pf community. Bennett, the sexy, helpful mayor wants his second chance with Ivy. Mitch sticks around in hopes that Shelly will give them a second chance. There are assorted neighbors who help, hurt, or amuse. Imani and her son; Gilda and her pet; Darla and her lawsuit; and the surprise guest that no one wanted around.

The slow burn, sweet romance (no sex) worked well. With Ivy dealing with her loss and present situation, I'm not sure when she'd have the time and bandwidth to fall in love at all, so the slower pace and building up to her happily ever after worked for me.

The mystery of Amelia and the art and jewelry that were "bought" during WWII keeps the suspense up. I really liked how everything gave it ambience, a feeling of life there, and just people trying to get by.

Note: I received an advance reading copy from Booksprout. I really enjoyed this series more than I expected to. Well done, Jan Moran.

The secrets of Seabreeze Inn will finally be discovered.........but will the Inn survive?

Seabreeze Sunset is the third and final book in the Summer Beach series and it is definitely my favorite. Ivy's story continues as she struggles with making the Seabreeze Inn a success, or at least enough money to deal with the looming financial situation coming shortly. But there are also a number of really great things happening for her personally, including her relationship with Bennett and the potential of developing a real relationship with her daughter as they do not get along at all. The questions that surround the Inn are going to be finally answered.
This is a well written and very enjoyable book with a lot of really great characters, and a few that you wouldn't mind seeing float out to sea and never return.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

"Sometimes you just have to roll with whatever life serves"

In this, the third Summer Beach novel, we are back with Ivy Bay as she tries to keep the Seabreeze Inn running one step ahead of the tax assessor. Is Ivy going to be able to keep the doors open or will the beautiful old historic building go back on the auction block for being in arrears. And the little band of "family" who have come together to help Ivy, face obstacles united, one at a time, including late spouse's mistresses, neighbor lawsuits, and even more of the former owner's eccentricities that are found quite by accident.

Through it all, Ivy stands firm, and begins to realize she doesn't have to go it alone; she can ask for and learn to receive help. Will it come too late? You'll just have to read this to find out! Highly recommended 5/5

Amazon synopsis:
With the high summer season underway at the Seabreeze Inn, Ivy Bay faces new challenges. She has just one season to make the inn a success to pay the tax bill her late husband left behind. And her neighbor’s lawsuit could mean an end to the Seabreeze Inn. Yet her daughter Sunny’s arrival in Summer Beach is also a chance to renew their strained relationship.

While the mayor, Bennett Dylan, develops deeper feelings for Ivy, new trials weigh on their romantic relationship. Sensing Ivy’s sadness over her sister Shelly’s departure, Bennett encourages Mitch, the Java Beach owner, to contact Shelly. And Sunny fears Bennett might be a replacement for her father.

Amid the turmoil, Ivy discovers another clue from the old house’s original owner. The woman’s story makes Ivy reflect on what the house means to her and all of Summer Beach.

Seabreeze Sunset is a sweet summer beach read. This third novel in the Summer Beach series concludes this trilogy.

The books in this series are all very easy listening, the book can be finished in one day or two day.

One thing I have to say is the author did not do a very good job researching about the retirement fund accounts. Each of the retirement accounts are opened for each person, husband has his own and wife has her own. There is not a combined account as described in the book.

Then There is Sunny. Wow, I cannot believe how inconsiderate she is. How entitled she behaved. The Prince she chased after probably told her he is not heterosexual so that she can go away. Who wants to be friends with such person? Only the type that are superficial that is.

I wanted to reach through the book and slap that girl in the face and tell her to get her priority straight.

I am giving the series a 3 star, because of the retirement account fact. Every time the book has the narative of what the late husband has done, I just cringe.

I received this as a Booksprout Arc. I enjoyed the book and the setting in wonderful SoCal! The characters Ivy, Bennett,Shelley and Sunny all had their issues with loss, debts, doubts over the future and several spanners thrown in the works as they went along. Nevertheless by the end, the future is beginning to look rosier for the Sunset Inn after having a successful summer arts event and lots if interest shown in the old seaside inn.

The reason I didn't give it 5* is because I just couldn't get my head round the names of a lot of the characters eg Sunny; Shelley; Bennett; Ivy's brothers etc.. Maybe its because I'm English and maybe these are American west coast popular names. I don't know. Anyway that's beside the point, I still enjoyed it and look forward to Jan's next one. Thankyou.

This is the third book of the Summer Beach series. This book is going to be a favorite of mine because the people, weren't perfect, they made mistakes and some became very lonely but later they learned that they had made mistakes and wanted to correct them. Ivy and her daughter didn't get along and I could so relate to that. All the questions about Amelia and the inn were answered but it is the people who are going to stay with me. I along with the people learned a lot from this story, and sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Sometimes you just have to do what you feel is right for you. There was such a variety of people but they could just come together for each other. It is nice to know that this does still exist today.

"Seabreeze Sunset" encapsulates a breathtaking exploration of empathy, love, and forgiveness, shaping an emotionally rich narrative that touches the heart deeply. The characters are profoundly human, their stories resonating with our own experiences of joy, heartache, and healing. Jan Moran has a unique ability to create an atmosphere so real and characters so alive that they stay with you long after the last page is turned. This book serves as a poignant reminder that happiness often comes from the most unexpected places, and forgiveness is a powerful catalyst for change. A beautifully crafted novel that illuminates the human spirit, "Seabreeze Sunset" is more than a story—it's an experience of love and resilience in all its beautiful complexities.

Ivy is saving so she can pay the tax bill and not lose her inn to a tax sale. Jan Moran gives us the third book in Summer Beach. It is a place most of us would love to live. Ivy and Bennett are still not together but Bennitt is waiting patiently. When Ivy's youngest daughter keeps begging for money to go to Ibiza Ivy is hoping she can save her Inn from a tax sale. There is another threat to the inn. In addition a rainstorm causes a ceiling to come down partially and more secrets are discovered. Seabreeze Sunset was a good story and leaves the way open for more of Summer Beach to be revealed.

The third in the series, which concludes the trilogy. The new summer season at Seabreeze Inn is underway and with that brings new challenges.

A tax bill to pay, left from her late husband, her neighbor’s lawsuit and the AMEX airline bill her daughter abused. Bennett Dylan, the mayor develops deeper feelings for Ivy, her sister Shelly returns, her daughter, Sunny just shows up, like a spoiled brat, and the threat of losing the Inn still lurks in the shadows.

Amid all this turmoil, Ivy finds another clue from the old house’s original owner. All this makes Ivy finally reflect on what the Inn really means to her.

Summer, beach, small town

Summer Beach: Seabreeze Sunset is the third book in this series by Jan Moran. This is a series that needs to be read in order. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. It is about Ivy Bay whose husband dies unexpectedly and leaves her with no money. Without her knowledge, he spent all their money, including retirement account and purchased a falling down, very old big home on a beach in a small California town. They live in Boston. All three books are about how Ivy copes and manages to survive.
