I'm a professional illustrator though I haven't had much education on art history itself; most of what I've learned is on a personal interest level, so this was a fairly nice little read. The book is a Beautiful collection of still lifes with some analysis.
Usually these sort of coffee table books don't seem to be made for reading, but I decided to do it! The history of the still life was illuminating and I enjoyed the small snippets of backstories on chosen paintings. I learned a little bit and loved looking at all the pretty pictures... Taschen never disappoints with good, aesthetic prints.
But despite all the good, mostly there was a lot of googling on my part because the book kept mentioning and analyzing artworks that weren't printed within its pages. So which is it then taschen???
