We were never meant to meet; our paths shouldn’t have crossed. And yet they did.
As an undercover DEA agent, I always thought things through. I didn’t take chances, because I knew one misstep could have disastrous consequences.
Until I met her. The little sister of my next target.
Lola was a feisty young woman trying to claw her way out of a bad neighborhood. She was forbidden in every sense of the word, and not just because of the sixteen year age gap.
We were taught to expect the unexpected, but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen.
I fell hard. I fell fast.I freefalled heart first.
But there was a secret I was keeping, and if revealed, it’d destroy the lives of those I’d vowed to protect.
One wrong move and everything could erupt in our faces. All that remained was one question... Was she worth it?

This is the first book I've read by Abigail Davis and I was so impressed...
I mean...
I'm still impressed 😍.
I'm so sad that she isn't more popular because if anyone deserves to be a famous writer that is she ❤.
I have to admit that the first thing why I choose to read and review "Free Fall", it was the cover.
Yes, I fell in love with the cover (I always do 😜).
Everything is so perfect on this cover that it pulls you to read the book. A picture says thousands of words and with this, cover this is so true.
The second thing why I decided to read it's the blurb. Blurb is interesting and after you read it, you just want to read the whole book.
So, now I have to say something about the book 😅!
This is the hardest thing for me because I don't want to spoiler the book and right now inside me, there are a thousand feelings.
That's the reason why I waited to read the whole duet before writing a review.
Lola and Brody are two characters for who you know that their love won't be possible till the end. You feel their happiness, you feel their sadness.
"Free Fall" in the end have a cliffhanger and it wasn't a real surprise to me because I had the feeling that Cade isn't in this book without any reason, but I loved it 😁!
Between their love, in this book, you can find forbidden love, bullying, secrets and lies...
So, if your mind is open for these things (like age-gap, bullying...), then you will really enjoy reading this book and you won't be able to stop reading until you read both books 😭💙!
Whoa. I saw that coming from a mile away and damn did it hurt!!!! Abigail worked two years on this novel and it showed! Such superb writing I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the pages. Oh Brody the things you do to me!
They are in “murky waters”. That seemed to be the theme in this story as the author tend to use that phrase several times. Undercover cop. Teen dealer sister. Forbidden love. It’s accurate.
Lola, Lola, Lola, is the perfect name for our fair heroine. When I think of Lola the name and how is sounds and the feelings it brings about, it has an aura of a woman that’s calm yet troubled, such a siren yet so sad, tragically heartbreaking and of course irresistible. Yes that’s her and she’s so easily the best thing in this story. But god, Lola had so much guts among all her heartbreaks. Please someone help her! She was a survivor. She was tortured. She was in pain. But her spirit wasn’t all the way broken. She had some hope. I loved her from the beginning and I’m so rooting hard for her. No one deserves an ounce of what she’s had to endure.
And Brody. I loved you but I hate you now after that ending. Sometimes you just get caught up. Or sucked in so deep that it’s hopeless. Either way, I am not sure how this will morally sit with me once book 2 is completed. I’m not even sure he can redeem himself in my eyes after the shocking ending. Yes he did what he thought was for the better good but he’s pretty fucked now. Redemption and groveling will not be enough. Everyone involved is screwed any which way it goes.
And Hut is a piece of shit. I hope he gets his upcompence.
I loved this book. The story telling flowed. It was suspenseful, but full of heart even though it was so sad. The angst. The edginess. The heat. And the writing was spectacular. The characters were all distinct. I can’t wait for the conclusion. 5++++ stars
Lola is 19 and lives with her step-brother, Emerson in their family home. Lola and her father moved in 7 years ago but very soon her father and step-mother started using drugs and disappearing for days/weeks at a time. Emerson was like a big brother to her caring and looking after her, As the years went by Emerson started dealing in drugs and using, that is when he became 'Hut'. He soon became a big time dealer who the police couldn't seem to catch. What came with his success was loud all night parties and always people or Hut's crew at the house. All Lola wanted to do was get out, but Hut thought of her as his property. She had carried on with her education and worked very hard at a diner to try and save money to get away. She came home one day from work to find Hut had a new member to his crew, Brody, she couldn't keep her eyes off this stunning man.
From here the story takes a very exciting turn, no more can be said without giving spoilers away. This book was so easy to read and very enjoyable, the different emotions were dealt with superbly. I can't wait to start the second book.
A new life was so close, my fingertips were grazing it. This wasn’t about leaving Hut, and it wasn’t about stopping the violence Hut was sending my way. It was about me. About starting a life I wanted to lead......"
If I could give a book 6 stars this is one of those books I would gladly rate 6+
Free Fall #1 - Is very well written, flows throughout and will keep you hooked from start to finish, and the finish WOW!!!!!!!!
The undercover story is amazing, violent in parts and one where you can picture everything from the run down houses to the drug dealers swimming in snow.
I loved every word. This is my kind of read, one that is detailed with a web of layers that has your mind thinking and switching who you are backing and a love connection that is a slow simmer heading to boiling point!
But the final blow will break you and leave your heart wide open and broken in two, I am not sure how or if Abigail Davies can repair it but I am praying she can and counting down for book 2.
I want my time back. Petitioning for all authors to have to openly disclose cheating w/ main characters. Cheating trope featuring a lying MMC that cheats with an unsuspecting 19 FMC that is wait for it 4 years older than his kid. Do yourself a favour and skip this. The author tries to glorify cheating by villainizing the wife. How about be a man and don’t lie to your “girlfriend” and divorce your wife.
It’s honestly hard to talk about this book because it made me feel a lot of conflicting things, especially at the end...
What really worked for me was the slow-burn romance. The relationship builds gradually, with a lot of tension and emotional buildup, which made it feel more believable. Lola is strong, feisty, and just trying to escape the life she was born into, so it was easy to root for her. Would I have liked her to be a bit older? Yes. But at the same time, that would’ve taken away part of the taboo factor the story clearly leans into.
I’ll be honest, this book includes a trope I absolutely hate. The thing is, I only fully realized it at the very end. Looking back, the clues were there all along, but by the time everything clicked, I was already way too invested in the characters and the story, which says a lot about how engaging the writing is.
As for the ending… the plot twist didn’t completely come out of nowhere like i said. The hints were there and definitely made me suspicious at times, but it still hit hard. Whether Brody deserves forgiveness is something that will totally depend on what happens in book two, and that alone makes me want to keep reading!
Overall, this book surprised me. It’s messy, uncomfortable at times, and very morally gray, but I still really enjoyed it. I’m definitely curious to see if the sequel can top this one and, more importantly, give us a good reason for that ending!
This is definitely a top read of 2019. I was hooked from the first page. I was all over the place with my feelings for these characters. Brody and Lola were on fire from the moment they met. I loved every single word of this book. I didn’t want it to end but I couldn’t stop reading. It was like an addict chasing a high. Now I’m going to be impatiently waiting for book 2.
This writer has a knack for writing about things that have nothing to do with the story. I’m half way through the book and the characters have literally only had four barely-almost conversations. Yet, somehow, he can’t stop thinking about her and she can feel him wherever he goes. How did the author manage to write at a snail’s pace and yet include no actual relationship. Even when they got together for pancakes... they ate pancakes. THAT’S IT! She did a cliche moan like she was eating through her vagina. He offered her his food, then they left.
I feel like an idiot for wasting so much time. But I was so hopeful that this would be one of those stories that start with nothing then suddenly smacks you with a whole lot of something.
I was wrong.
Maybe just skip to half way through, you won’t miss much.
Free Fall by Abigail Davies is the First book in the Fallen Duet. This starts the story of Lola and Brody and will continue in the next book Down Fall. I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. If I could give it more than 5🌟 I would as this book definitely deserves it 💞💞 OMG Abigail Davies this is one amazing book, that at the end I was saying please don't end please don't end, but guess what it did 😆 This book is really well written and the characters are absolutely outstanding, and not just the main character's Lola and Brody but also the rest of the characters and how they all fit into the lives of Lola and Brody. This book has everything, romance, betrayal, drugs, violence, so a little bit of everything that I love. Abigail Davies you have left me breathless and on my knees begging for book two. This book is definitely a book on my recommendation list 💖💖💖💖
Free Fall is the first book in the Fallen duet by Abigail Davies. A new book by Abigail Davies well count me in. This duet is very different from her Confessions series, which I loved, but after reading the blurb I really wanted to read it.
And the book is amazing! I loved it so much! The writing was really good as always and the story was amazing. I love Brody and Lola. I need more! Can't wait for the second book!
Just when I think my heart is strong enough then..... BAM, Abigail goes and lows it to smithereens. This book had me all over the place. It was beautiful and so very heartbreaking.
Lola desperately wants to escape from her step-brothers clutches. He is not the same guy she grew up with. He changed over the years and has just been getting worse. He only way out is to run and right now she doesn’t have the funds to accomplish that. She is off limits to his crew and that is means also to the new member, Brody. He is forbidden in every sense of the word. He is way older than her and not to mention the fact that he is hiding a major secret from her. He is an undercover DEA agent and Hut is his target. Brody was never meant to get so close to Lola but the temptation was too strong and he couldn’t resist. He knows it will end badly but he can’t seem to care. He. Just. Wants. Her.
This book had me all tied up in knots. Brody was the perfect forbidden cave man that I wanted and secretly crave. His relationship with Lola was forbidden but it was so very sweet and insanely hot. I had my suspicions of what was coming but oh boy, oh boy, oh boy did I wish it was not true. That cliffhanger just about destroyed me. I need Lola to not hurt so much. I need Brody to make it right and redeem himself. I need Abigail Davies to not let me break and free fall. I am flabbergasted. I am hurt. The cliffhanger was like a knife to my heart.
I honestly don’t know how I am going to recover. I don’t know how I am going to manage reading the next book. This book is bordering on my hard limits but I’m still craving the next book.
This book is definitely one of the best books I’ve read of 2019. This book sucked me in from the first page and I found myself reading it through the night because I had to find out what happened and then bamb! The ending omg! I loved Brody and Lola as a couple the chemistry was off the charts! And the ending left my heart broken and bleeding so I am now waiting for Book 2 to hopefully put it back together! This book gave me all the feels and the twist and turns keeping me intrigued all the way through but that ending I never saw coming ! I Definitely recommend this book ! Definite 5 star read ! I received an arc copy for my honest review
Such a intoxicating, exhilarating, sizzling romance with a lot of sizzle, a lot of suspense and a plot that kept my heart a-galloping!
Free Fall was a book that seduced and engaged me right from the blurb to the very last page. I loved the situations, the plot development, the characters and definitely the romance. The story had so many ups and downs and twists, there wasn't one moment of it being boring or lacking. The story was incredible and intriguing and I enjoyed it greatly.
From the very first page to the very last page I just couldn’t put it down as I didn’t want to miss a thing. Everything about this book will have you gripped and will leave you with so much emotion bubbling up in you that you won’t know which way is up. Brilliant storyline and absolutely brilliant characters and a cliffhanger you didn’t expect and you have an easy 5 star read.. I was seriously left in a book funk and in desperate need for book 2 saw I need to know if Lola and Brody make it... I highly recommend this book.
4.5 Stars! OMG! I loved Lola and Brody and need the next book! In have to find out what happens! What happens when Lola learns who Brody really is? Will she run, or will she let him explain? Does she get away from her brother and his friends before she gets hurt? I have so many questions!
Loved this from start to finish. Lola and Brody... ah! What can I say? Forbidden love at its finest and it had such a good plot weaved throughout. I really enjoyed this one. I couldn't put it down. Such a wonderful read. I can't wait for the second part.
Wow! So many emotions in this book. I’ve loved Lola and Brody and was hooked since the first page. I’m just impatiently waiting for book 2. This book deserves more than 5 stars
