Jamie watched in stunned disbelief as the United States Senate abolished the federal government with a single vote. As the seventeen-year-old daughter of a U.S. Senator, Jamie was sure that would be the most shocking news of the day. And it was…until she was chosen to be the first queen of the New World.
Under the visionary leadership of Creighton Ashwill, the New World has taken its first tenuous steps as a monarchy. Still reeling from the devastating effects of a virus two decades earlier, the people are ready to embrace their queen, ready for change. However, not everybody’s on board with the radical new government, least of all Jamie. But, as she’s finding, the tide of history is hard to resist.
Now as the presumptive queen, Jamie must navigate startling revelations about her past, hidden agendas by those in power, and newfound love to discover if her destiny will lead all the way to the throne.
Doug is a husband, father, pastor, and most recently an author. The New World, his debut novel, has opened a new vista for him in the world of fiction – creating it. Doug has degrees in political science and theology as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree. He lives in Florida with his wife Linda, and his two grown children, Ryan and Haley. Two dogs round out the family. Doug’s greatest pleasure in writing is creating stories his wife enjoys. This will continue to be the greatest measure of his success. (And, by the way, he’s not as serious as he looks.) You can find Doug at doufelton.net, and on Facebook.
This was actually really interesting. I had no idea how the author will ever spin the immortality sub-plot in an interesting way, but it was actually woven-in into the story in an interesting way. Want to reed Books 2 and 3 already! Will be patiently waiting for them to be added to Audiable, hopefully soon!

Interesting and fast read. The main character is easy to get attached to and the storyline is a divided country is actually quite relatable. Great debut novel for the author.
