I’ve got male… and it’s a big one. Chiseled 48-inch chest. Ripped 32-inch waist. And 19-inch arms.
Bulging. Veiny. Hard.
The male arrived for my mother, but I have my eyes set on it… set on him. They call him Ghost. Maybe because he’s scary. Owner of a strip club. Former Army man. A raging biker. Always angry. Alpha as hell. For me, he’s Jake. The hot 40-year-old Jake who’s dating (or almost broken up) with my mother who does nothing but make my life a living hell. She doesn’t deserve him. Never did. But wanting him might be the greatest sin I’ve ever committed. It doesn’t help that he stares at me all the time. And that he’s sitting in my living room right now. I know what I want, and I want to tell him how I feel. What should I do to calm my nerves?
"Holy shit, I can't sleep here. Not just because it is small, but Jessica snores like a freight train, and if the snoring gets any stronger, she is going to blow this mobile home off its blocks. When I met her, I thought she was hot, in a one−night stand kind of way with how she threw herself at me down at the bar, but then she played hard to get, and I love a good challenge."
"We had sex a few weeks ago, and it was alright. She was a warm body and a person that was there. Never in my fucking life did I think I'd be coming over for dinner and sleeping over, but she gave me the impression she wanted to fuck."
"Until she got drunk off boxed wine and passed out. Not that I would have fucked her anyway, not after seeing her daughter. That’s the only reason why I’m in this room, barely dealing with the ceiling fan squeaking at every turn and the loud gravel sounds of Jessica’s snores. I need to end it with this woman, especially when her daughter holds my interest so much more."
What's wrong with these authors ?! Okay, there are taboo situations, but this ?! This is simply disgusting. Seriously. This book is a perfect example of someone who lost the notion of ridicule!🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I have no problem with taboo. I know the boyfriend of your mother can be a hard limit for some people. If you can get passed that , I think you can enjoy the story . I did . I liked the story line and MCs. My only criticism are the typos.
The story had promise. It needs a good editor. There were many word usage errors, editing errors, timeline errors, and mistakes. There is promise in the authors writing. She needs more polish.
Could not get passed first few pages. The grammar and misspelling was a deal breaker. Did this author not have one friend who could have proof read it? Huge disappointment.
Sophia’s mother brings home Ghost and she isn’t good to either Sophia or Ghost. Sparks are flying between them but when her mom causes her to lose another job, Ghost offers a one. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. Hot chemistry and an entertaining story. I liked it.
Wow....I have no idea where to begin. Let's start with my curiosity on what other readers think about the book. 1. I am an intelligent woman who enjoys all types of books and I like seeing what other readers such as myself think about the story overall. 2. I understand we all have different ways of breaking a story down and that there will be good reviews for those of us who enjoyed the story (Remember this is just a story...not real), and those who just think it's trash and then go onto trashing the writer. Hey, I get you didn't like it and that's okay. Maybe this specific type of romance isn't for you but in all fairness to the author the blurb pretty much tells you what to expect. So being harsh and nasty is unnecessary. Just give it a low rating stating not your kind of book. 3. Authors put a lot into their writing and no I am not a writer but envy those who can.
My overview of the book: This is a very steamy romance once it goes into play. The taboo of much older man doesn't even phase me. Love and attraction does not look at age, gender, or color. It just is. Sophia's mother is a total waste of space and Jake and Sophia both deserved better than her. Both characters went against their nature by fighting the attraction at first. They both have morals and standards and stood by them throughout the book. The challenges they met due to others who could not get their own acts together really surprised me. Along with a "Taboo" romance.....(Taboo to who is my question), there were moments of suspense, anger, and so much more. So, I guess by now you can guess that YES I did enjoy the book and all it offered. No, I am not being an ass and outing those that didn't enjoy it. I just think there are ways to show it without being nasty. So, from my point of view this was an enjoyable read and if you like all the kink and taboo issues this short satisfy that craving. Best Wishes~
Sophia is forced to have dinner with her mom, an irresponsible drunk who blames Sophia for everything that is wrong in her life, and her boyfriend, Ghost. Sophia is instantly attracted to Ghost and decides that after meeting him and her mom berating her in front of him that she is done with her antics. And to top that all off, her mom loses her keys so she is again late to work and is fired (which makes no sense because within the first chapter her mom said she was fired from her job so not sure how she has one - more on this later). Even though Ghost has already had sex with Jessica, Sophia's mom, upon seeing Sophia he knows that he is done with Jessica and his heart, body and soul is now Sophia's despite their 16ish year age gap.
This book needed a good editor. There were a lot of errors in the book, things that didn't make sense, things contradicted each other and quiet a few times when I had no idea what was going and what characters were involved in a particular scene or incident. There was a few mentions about a Hannah and she plays a pivotal role in a particular scene but I have no clue who she is or why she was there. It was very bizarre, confusing and straight up out of place. I just didn't get it. I suspect there was a previous story about Hannah and Sophia's dad or there will be one soon but this story was so rushed that her even being in the story made no sense whatsoever. And then there is the whole Hawk substory that went totally unsresolved as well. I suspect that is a set up for another story but again it was just done so poorly. I just couldn't connect with anyone in this story. It was a giant miss for me. And can we talk about the title? There is zero connection with the book except for the fact that there are male characters. The title made no sense to me in terms of the actual story.
This book is amazing! Full of steam and love and a bit of heartache, it is a story well worth reading. Sophia meets Jake when he shows up for dinner with her and her mother, Jessica. It seems Jessica and Jake are dating and Sophia can't stand the thought. Her mother is a drunk who cares nothing about her, only about the booze. Sophia has to work hard to pay the bills but her mother constantly behaves badly and Sophia has to pick up the pieces. Jake is drawn to Sophia but since he is so much older than she is, he tries to ignore it. He does, however, offer her a job at his strip club as a bartender. When she finally agrees, he's relieved because now he can keep an eye on her. An encounter a few weeks later, just after Sophia gets out of the shower, has Jake convinced he has to go for it with Sophia. At this time, she is on her way out of the trailer she shares with her mom and on to being responsible for her own life. She and Jake get together and things are going really well until one day, she goes to talk to her mother by herself. This lands her in the hospital and Jake is beside himself. When she finally wakes up, the two learn the terrible cost of her attack and she sinks into depression. Jake stands by her side, caring for her tenderly and she manages to get back to being herself. He soon asks her to marry him and she says yes but soon he's the one in the hospital bed when an arsonist strikes. As she waits for him to wake up, her mother's neighbor shows up, telling her why he was part of the attack on her and on Jake. In the end, Jake and Sophia get to have their happily ever after and a second chance at the happiness being a family will bring.

first of all I did not expect that this book was gonna be an emotional one especially the last 15-10 pages and in the beginning our H is actually dating the h's mama who's a horrible and junkie human being. But as the story continues I get to know more Ghost his personality and wanting to settle down with the right woman which leads to Sophia.
What I like most with Ghost character are he's actually a good, sweet loving guy who's truly devoted to Sophia. Ya sure I did not like him at the beginning because of his actions but along the way you can see that he has a substance he's not just an Alpha male with a controlling issue. And of course I'm so here for Forbidden and age gap trope plus the smut scenes🔥
And please be aware that there are some sensitive topics such as miscarriage and verbal/physical abuse that might uncomfortable for you.
regardless I did enjoy reading the story though its short one thing that I didn't like is why her mother did not suffer for her own fault and misdeeds. That's the only loose ends that I can say.
Interesting story line that I wasn't sure if I wanted to read or not. I am glad I decided to continue as the story line was handled so well I did not want to set the book down until I finished. The mom, Jessica" is an older woman with one of those "bodies" that attracts all of the guys. The daughter, Sophia, is twenty-four years old taking care of her mother who did show any love or respect to Sophia. Jessica does not work expecting Sophia to pay all the bills while maligning her continually. Sophia is about the meet her mother's new boyfriend, Ghost. He is a forty year wanting to settle down thinking Jessica might be the right one for him. Ghost, who asks Sophia to call him Jake, has never seen the side of Jessica he will see today. Both Sophia and Jake feel this connection at first time meeting. Jessica so drunk that she has no clue. The story goes from here. I like the way Jake stepped away from Jessica because of his feelings. Then Sophia decides to move out of her mother's because she can not be around Jessica and Jake together. It takes a little while for Jake and Sophia to see that each has left Jessica. Jessica tries to persuade Ghost she loves him but he rejects her each time. Jake offers Sophia a job in his strip club as a bartender so he can keep her safe. It is now time for you to read the rest of the story.
Sophie lives with her mother that is a drunk but Sophie is the one paying the bills. Her mother tells her that she met the man she going to marry and that she better not ruin in. So Sophie ends up having dinner with her mom and Ghost aka Jake. Jake is ready to settle down and figures Jessica is the one he will do it with. That is until he has dinner with her daughter and wants to be with her more. When her mother costs her another job Sophie has had enough and ends up crying on the side of the road. Jake sees her when he is ending to end things with her mother and stops to check on her. He gives Sophie a job at his club where he can watch over her and as soon as she tells him that she wants him too. Jake ends things with her mother. Things start happening to Sophie and then Jake because of them being together. Will it ever be safe for them to be together? Can they ever get their happy ending?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is scorching hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Too many grammatical errors. Some sentences are missing words and some sentences have too many. (And not enough contractions, but that's a personal one for me. I know not everyone is bothered by it.) I knew it was gonna be bad when I read in the very first chapter the words "hammy-down" instead of "hand me down".
Also. A few inconsistencies. The very first conversation in the very first chapter Sophia's age is revealed as 24. Yet Ghost/Jake is worried about if she's "even legal age to drink". He's 40 and keeps repeating that he has over 20 years on the girl. That math just doesn't add up to me.
There were a lot of things that happened in such a short amount of time for these two characters. Oh, and side note: there should be a trigger warning at the beginning or in the book description. I stuck it out and finished the book..... but good lord the amount of grammatical errors just kept rising. I swear every other page by the end of the story had a typo somewhere. It was awful. I can't believe an author would publish something like this.
Just too much in the way for me to enjoy the story. I think I'll pass on anything else from this author for a while.
Another good fast read from Summer Brooks. This is a May-December, no wait, a May-September romance. Ghost (Jake), grew up in a tattoo parlor, went into the Army and owns an upscale strip club. He meets Jessica and hooks-up with her. Jessica who has been off of daughter's earnings, things she has found her new meal ticket. Jessica invites him home for dinner, where he meets her daughter, Sophia, and falls hard, and the feeling is mutual. Sophia, despite her issues with her Mom, won't poach. The next time Jake sees Sophia, she has lost another job because of her Mom, so her offers her a job at his club. Despite his feelings for Sophia, he's taking it slow, he's too old for her. He also, dislikes her mother the more he knows her, but, he's sleeping on their trailer's couch to keep Sophia safe. Once, Sophia moves out, Jake moves on her. Their relationship established, they try to help Jake's friend Hawk. But, there are hardships and drama still in their future.

Sophia lived with her mother in a trailer home and brings home a new boyfriend soon as Sophia see him she wants him. Ghost (aka jake ) meets Sophia went he comes round for dinner and the chemistry is there straight away but they can’t act on it Ghost is twice the age of Sophia.
The whole story is great and so are the characters the story just flows while reading you also meet other characters that are also in the book. Also there are some steamy sex scenes though out the book.
There is also trouble for both of them in the book but will they have the happy ending and some surprises on the way. I throughly loved this book from beginning to end and I look forward to reading more books from this author.
There were a few grammar and spelling mistakes but overall the book was still great.
I really enjoy reading this authors books and I recommend this one.

I so enjoyed this book by Summer Brooks about Ghost/Jake, the 40-year old owner of a strip club and Sophia, the 24-year old daughter of the woman he thought was worth seeing. Soon after being with Sophia’s mother he finds that she is hardly worth the effort, but still agrees to have dinner at her place, where he meets Sophia. The two have instant chemistry, yet fight off the attraction because well, he still hasn’t broken it off with her mother. When the two do get together there are instant fireworks. There are a few surprises, especially where someone is stealing from Jake’s club, and yet no one is ever charged with stealing. That part of the storyline heads a dead end. Of course there is a HEA, but there are also numerous editing errors which took this book from a solid 4 star rating to only 3 stars.
Sophia Davis has always had to take care of her verbally abusive mother who is hoping to find a “Sugar Daddy” to live off of. When he drags home yet another candidate, Sophia has an immediate reaction to him. Jake Romero (“Ghost”) has her full attention, and he seems aware of her as well.
When Sophia, who always has to pay the bills and rent, ends up losing her job because of her mother’s irresponsible behavior -- such as taking off in their only car at random hours of the morning so Sophia can’t get to work -- Jake offers her a job as a bartender at his club. Will they have their chance to start a relationship? Will Sophia embrace a new life with Jake?
This was a good older man/younger woman romance. They would have to work for their HEA. Is that the path they will choose?
Jake (Ghost) Is quite smitten with Sophia, the daughter of the woman he is sleeping with. You would think that a man who earns a name like Ghost would a scary person but he is quite the complete opposite. The moment he met Sophia he lost all sexual interest in her mother. He was conflicted about acting his feelings for Sophia. First, he needed to leave her drunken horrible mother, then there is the fact that he is twice her age. She is all he can think about though and the chemistry between is hard to ignore. When he finally decided to pursue his feelings for Sophia. Their relationship came with dangerous situations for both of them but the weathered the storm togather and got their happy ending.
When Jake meets his date's daughter he knows Sophia is meant to be his. Jake Ghost Romero goes home with a woman he has met before and meets her twenty-two year old daughter Sophie. The row between the two women brings to light that the mother is a drunk and that the daughter is the wage earner but gets no respect from her mother. Jake also takes one look a Sophia and wants her for his own despite the age gap between them. Later he finds her in her car upset having lost her job so he offers her a job serving behind the bar at his strip club but life is not going to be that easy.

I would have to give this book 3.5 out of 5- star rating. It was not one of the best quick reads I have read in the past two years. I liked it, but not with the passion that I have with other books. The author is a good writer, but that is all I can say about that. I really liked the male main character Jake (as he was called only by Sophia) or Ghost (by other people) he sounded possessive and he was definitely a hot older alpha male to the tee. The only thing I liked about the female main character Sophia was that she was really mature and independent character for her age. I have mixed feelings about recommending this book or not.
Cant say i am a fan of 24y h who blames her mother that she is poor and has not moved out of the trailer. She is 24y. WHY should her mother support her? Then talking about custody and it would have beem better with dad. Guuuuurl. She has been ADULT for 6y.
Should havw made her barely legal and 18. Would have made more sense
"It isn't too late. I can move and go there, he says I can, but what's the point? I'm stuck here. I have no money, and any money I make goes to my mom. I can't leave her, even if she is a waste of damn space, my heart wouldn't be able to take it.

This is an older guy/younger woman story. It made me swoon, laugh and cry. You feel the instant and sizzling chemistry between Sophia and Ghost practically from the start; they make a very well matched couple. That book has a bit of everything; a great story line, consuming from start to finish; it's full of emotions, a bit of drama, some colorful characters and a couple of intensely hot sexy scenes ;) I highly recommend it !

I really enjoyed this story about Jake and Sophia. They meet when Jake is going out with Sophia's mum but soon realises what a mistake that was. It was the instant love and attraction between the two. Jake is 40 and Sophia is 24. This was a dramatic and tense story mixed in with a very alpha romance between the two. It was heart felt, emotional and handled so well. The story line seemed true to life And characters were very interesting people. Very impressed!

It needs a lot of studying this book. It was a nice shirt spicy read. I loved that Jake was an alpha male, Sophie wasn't wishy washy like some younger girls tend to be portrayed. The ending was rushed when there could have been a mention of Hannah as a build up to the next book after the hospital scene. I will read the other book in the series and keep my fingers crossed that the author learned from the first book and has done some editing and fixed those grammar errors
An amazing well written older man younger woman love story. This unexpected romance had me engaged with twists and turns, drama, danger, passion in a truly exciting storyline that kept me on the edge till a HEA. A truly entertaining rollercoaster with well developed interesting characters that have an undeniable attraction and chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this terrific unexpected romance.
