A cute and light read, but there was not enough Casper!
Ten Things My Cat Hates About You was a quick and sweet read about a girl called Clara, and her grumpy cat Casper. When he chases another romantic suitor out the door, she decides to give up on love, until said cat causes her to meet not one, but two new men...
I really loved the setting of this book, in Cambridge! I've been there twice, once to visit a friend at uni there, and then to her wedding at the University! I found it a beautiful place, and this book transported me right back there!
The book did give me warm fuzzy feelings, but I did feel a bit disappointed that there wasn't more misadventures with Casper! I love grumpy cats, and I just wanted more assholery behaviour!

Clara was an okay heroine, but was a little annoying. She was a bit too dreamy and whimsical for me. She rambled a lot and actually talked to us as though we were there, hidden camera style, which felt a bit odd?! I did like that she had family and friends in the book, but she seemed a bit preoccupied by her own world to see what was going on with a lot of them! She was also very naïve when it came to the men in her life...It would have been nice if she would have figured stuff out a little earlier on I felt.
The romantic situation was obvious to me a mile away, so there were no real surprises there. If the author wanted to keep us guessing a bit more, then one of the characters needed to be a bit more fleshed out. I also felt like we were told a lot of things, rather than shown?
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story, for what it was-a quick, light fluffy read.

And, from her married, best friend, Heather, who advises “Find someone who can actually win round that cat of yours; now that really will be someone worth having.”
Clara takes this to heart, with the next two men she meets, Josh and Adam...can either one win over Casper? 😾
Our hopeless romantic Clara is a relatable protagonist, with a good sense of humor, who is surrounded by a cast of likable friends, family and co-workers, all rooting for her to find true love.
And, I was rooting for her too!
My only criticism of the book, is that the TITLE is a bit misleading...
I expected to read about AMUSING interactions between Casper and the two leading men, and at least TEN ACTUAL things that Casper hated about Clara’s prospects, but the story did not offer that.
So, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations that I had going into the book.
Nonetheless, if you are in the mood for a little romance..this IS a quick, CHARMING read...even though the cat lover in me, wanted more of a starring role for Casper! 😻
PS: I loved that the author dedicated the book to her husband Greg-beloved by cats everywhere!

What a pawsome, delightful novel. Of course, Casper the ginger cat is the star, but I honestly adored everything about this story. From the small, historical town setting to the enemies to lovers storyline down to the little details like Clara’s pink house.
Adam was the perfect romantic anti-hero, I loved how he was the underdog for most of the book and I fell in love with his character. His relationship with Casper was hilarious and heartwarming and just so sweet in the end.
Being inside Clara’s head was such fun, even if, like everyone else in the story from time to time I wanted to whack some sense into her.
Get ready for a warm, fuzzy, and furry treat with this book.

Okay, I definitely picked this one up because of the title. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my all-time fave movies, and as a cat lover as well, this romantic comedy looked to be nicely geared towards my interests. And in a lot of ways, it is; with a charmingly kooky protagonist in assistant museum curator Clara whose rescued cat Casper takes great pleasure in terrorizing her potential love interests and the beautifully scenic city of Cambridge, England as a backdrop.
Unfortunately, there are also a few things I really don’t like. Two love interests both given about equal weight in the story even though only one of them was endgame, both of them treating Clara badly - Josh was a player and Adam infantilized her - and, frankly, irresponsible cat ownership. About 90% of Clara’s problems with Casper’s attitude would have been solved if she’d neutered him and kept him inside at night. My inner RSPCA volunteer was SCREAMING about her blase attitude to Casper’s nocturnal wanderings. She lives in a city, not on a farm. Allowing an entire tom to wander the neighbourhood at night to terrorise the urban wildlife and father unwanted kittens made me want to shake some sense into Clara, and her pet ownership pretty much typified her entire attitude to life. She needed to wise up and start behaving like an adult if she wanted to be taken seriously, and stop complaining about not being taken seriously!
Clara works as an assistant museum curator but doesn’t want to do the unglamorous work of completing grant applications, even though she knows very well they’re the lifeblood of the museum; is it any wonder her boss is reluctant to give her greater responsibility? Her self-centredness was nowhere better illustrated than her relationship with her younger brother Freddie, who comes to stay with her at the start of the book. It’s more than a month later when Clara actually notices something serious is wrong and Freddie needs her help and advice, but doesn’t know how to ask for it. Or maybe doesn’t ask because he can’t rely on her to be helpful, I wasn’t really too sure. In short, Clara’s a flake, and though she could be charming and funny, she’s also unreliable. I struggled to like her, I didn’t believe in her happy ending because there was too much left unresolved, and I just wanted her to neuter the darn cat. Two stars.

I requested this book because my husband and my cat hated each other for the first 4 years of our relationship. Casper is obviously a very naughty cat, BUT as someone in the Veterinary field, everything that involved going to the vet for Casper was very inaccurate in comparison to how it would happen at any of the clinics I've worked at. I'm not going to go too much into that.
I liked the characters as they were all flawed, but I just didn't connect with our protagonist, Clara. And she actually drove me a little nuts. I liked Adam and Josh. This book seemed like it was going to be a love triangle but never really became one, it was obvious immediately who the love interest was intended to be so if the author was hoping to keep us guessing she probably would've needed to flesh out the other guy a bit more.
I was kind of hoping for a bit more dynamics involving the cat to be honest. The other thing was as with many romances I've read it felt like the author did more telling than showing which made it a little slow for me the first half.
Overall it was an entertaining read.

I always love to be honest and so here it is—this book is a perfectly enjoyable read if you don’t go in with expectations. The hard part is that because of the title, I admit I thought this might be a retelling of 10 Things I Hate About You, which it is not. It actually might remind me a bit more of Bridget Jones Diary, which is still a great inspiration as far as romances go!
Clara is an art historian who dates a lot but has been unlucky in love. Like so many rom com heroines, Clara gets attached to the idea of love, but when the break ups come she doesn’t know how to reconcile her feelings so she tends to blame her ginger cat Casper for her romantic failings. Afterall, it is just as important that Casper likes her love interests as Clara!
Of course, it is clear to everyone except Clara that she just doesn’t have a good picker. She chooses the wrong men and then she is sad when they don’t work out. After a particularly disappointing break up, Clara begins to wonder if maybe she should just let Casper choose. He clearly has better taste than she does!
And soon Casper brings two men her way—a charming veterinarian and a testy professor. Both bring up different feelings for Clara. And while one is blond, handsome, and has sparkly eyes, it turns out behind the glasses, the other has eyes that are just as sparkly! (I had to throw that in there because it is just so rom com!)
So you can see where this is going… it is clear that one man looks better on paper and the other is all wrong but could be so right. A classic tale! I did think the book kept both men around too long even though it was clear who she’d end up with. Clara is also every rom com leading lady trope rolled into one, but I also didn’t mind that. All in all this is a sweet story that felt a tiny it unbalanced in the execution. A great afternoon read with plenty of laughs!

This is a fun and super quick read. Sadly, it's not very memorable. The premise of "my cat picking my suitors" is enticing and makes for a quirky setting.
Let's start off with things I liked about this book. The cat, obvi. Clara was sweet and happy most of the time allowing for this tory to feel light-hearted. The two male leads were sort of ok.
Now to the less likable parts. First of all, the title doesn't hold what's promised. There were no TEN things the cat hated about anyone. There was actually very little cat-suitor interactions. Secondly, Clara was a bit boring and self-centered which did not drive the story in any direction. I was excited that she worked an interesting job for example but then seemed to be completely out of touch with what's important (like writing grants for funding - why?, I never received an answer to that reluctance to do what's required of her. Why was this tidbit important to the story?). Her younger brother actually stays with her in her apartment for a while and Clara is so focused on her own life, she doesn't notice that he might need help? This was a serious situation and could've given the book some depth but was handled in a nonchalant way and sort of glanced over, kind of like an unnecessary side-act. Thirdly, her romantic interactions seemed just wrong. One guy treated Clara badly and the other kind of babied her in a bad way. Neither one seemed a super desirable match. The outcome of the love triangle was also incredibly obvious and really no triangle at all. I wish the author had left some mystery.
All in all, this was a kooky, very British read that I think is best enjoyed when a need to escape reality is urgent.

This book was cute, funny and thoroughly british. It was a nice easy read that had my attention from the beginning.
I loved that it was set in Cambridge and the punting and historical landmarks were included. Even though I haven't been to Cambridge I felt as if I was transported there. The setting and all the very british words and britishisms made me smile and proud to be from our small island.
From the beginning I knew this was going to be rather...well...silly. I read the book under the pretence that it wasnt going to be all together believable and rather quirky on top. I think you just have to let yourself be taken on a happy ride with books like this as it did make me smile.
The main female lead was brilliant, quirky, full of joy but also a hard worker and struggling with real problems. She was easy to like and to route for and I loved that she worked in the museum as it gave her a whole different depth.
The romances...well I obviously guessed who she would end up with and it was so clear from the start. I wish it had been a bit more of a mystery. There was one point (that I won't say due to spoilers) that I thought the book could do without and maybe a few extra scenes with added depth would have been nice.
Overall a nice easy read that I would recommend to anyone that loves cats and a cute book.

I was excited to be able to review this book for an honest opinion from Netgalley. I was hooked by the title for starters and love how Casper, the ginger cat, is entwined throughout the story line. This is an easy and quick read. For romcoms I do hope for a good mixture of laughter and connection with the characters. Though I did not truly "lol" through the majority of this book I did enjoy the character connections. There were times I wanted to give Clara a wake-up call slap for her obliviousness. She is supposed to be an educated women who hangs her hopes on fairy tale romance. We all know love is blind but there are parts that took this to a level that made her character frustrating at times instead of quirky and lovable. With a little more comic relief I could come to adore this author as much as I adore the writings of Sophie Kinsella.

The book was entertaining, funny in parts. But there was so much more potential in comedy, in building the characters and in the romance. There was a lot of rambling in between and the ending downright annoyed me. There were so many avenues where the leads could have gotten together but they were just circling in a holding pattern! Ten Things My Cat Hates About You follows twenty-five year old Clara Swift and her romantic escapades as she stumbles through her twenties. Clara thinks her brother Freddie and her best friend Heather both seem to have romance all figured out, but feels that she personally can't get it right. It doesn't help matters that her cat Casper hates every man she brings back to her rainbow-painted house, and that she is still dealing with the death of her parents. The novel sees her date Casper's vet Josh, and befriend a professor in the museum where she works, as she tries to figure out love and everything that comes with it.
I adored Clara; I related a lot to her romantic, whimsical tendencies, and she was so full of life! Exactly who I aspire to be in my twenties (cat included). Her fashion sense, her approach to her career, and her tendencies to fall too fast all made her lovable, and I was rooting for her and Adam the entire way through. I read the book in a few hours and could not put it down. Sometimes you just want a fun rom-com, and I can't imagine a more perfect rom-com than one that involves cats, professors, and a whimsical narrator. Will 100% be purchasing a physical copy to support Lottie when the book releases. Amazing!

Hmm...hard one to review.
The writing was “ok”. Actually everything was just “ok” with this one.
I feel horrible but it’s just not a memorable book.
It’s supposed to be a romcom but I didn’t laugh that much.

Can I get more cute books like this please?
A happy wallflower (Clara) will have to discover the hard way that love is not just "magic" and "chemistry", but the willingness to work hard and appreciate the person you are with.

I enjoyed that the setting was Cambridge based and felt familiar. The protagonist was fun but a tad too dense for me at times.

I was 100% duped into requesting Ten Things My Cat Hates About You by Lottie Lucas because of this book's title. It's definitely one that gets your attention and then attacks your nostalgia in a way that just says, "read me!" As an avid fan of the movie, 10 Things I Hate About You, some part of my brain was telling me that this book had to at least be somewhat worthy of my attention with a title like that. And the plot sounded fun... well, fun-ish; the cat was amusing. So, I gave it a read, and, well--
I think my biggest issue with Ten Things My Cat Hates About You was that the book was so damn boring. I couldn't get into any of it. None of the characters were interesting. I didn't have fun with a single second of reading this book. And for something that should have been a romantic comedy, that's really bad. But honestly? From main the character, who works at a museum, to the veterinarian, to the professor, to her friends...everyone was just so dull and poorly developed. The most interesting person in the whole novel was her brother and even his blatantly obvious story wasn't much to shout about.
Also that cat?
Utterly pointless and dumb. He basically just existed as a plot point to occasionally move the story along. The entire novel is titled after this creature and he was both annoyingly irrelevant in most cases and nothing more than a plot device in others. I just...why?
But worst of all--
This is a romance novel. So, where in the hell was the chemistry between the end couple? There was, at times, more chemistry between the couple you knew wasn't going to happen than the pairing that the novel ended with. The love triangle itself was thoroughly unnecessary in the first place but it ultimately just took massively from whatever supposed chemistry the main character was supposed to have with the other guy.
Also, who the hell falls onto someone's lips??
Everything about this book was contrived.
Honestly, I think that statement just about covers it for me. There's nothing really inherently wrong with the writing, I suppose. But, damn, the romance makes no sense and the book was so boring.

Even though I'm not a cat person I thought, "this is cute cover, this might be a fun, light, cute romance, plus it's set in England...in the UK no less." But oof, this wasn't good. I will say the writing was fine. Also, it's a closed door romance, if you like to know that type of thing. The rest of it fell flat.
Clara is a vintage dress wearing assistant curator at a small museum in Cambridge, where she does a lot of the grunt work while the older, stodgy curator refuses to give her any creative control. At home, she has a mischievous (some might say malicious) cat who continually chases away the men she brings home. One night the cat is parked in the middle of the street and causes a cyclist to swerve and crash. Although he can't see Clara very well in the dark, she realizes the next day when he's conducting research at her museum and she's inadvertently kissed him (insert eye roll) that this uptight young professor is none other than the cyclist. He doesn't know it's her though and she doesn't tell him. Meanwhile, she starts dating her cat's new veterinarian even as she slowly begins to get to know this professor.
This is one of those books where the main character, the love interest, and the pseudo love interest act like brats and the romance has little to no chemistry. It was so annoying. The professor is a charmless, moody Darcy type who is just that, a type. His character is never satisfyingly developed, and he acts like a child "because he's stressed" every time something doesn't go his way. Clara repeatedly repeats her mistakes and whines about not being an academic like the professor...except she's got a master's in art history and works at an art museum in Cambridge of all places. Please find me a non-academic master's bearing art historian/curator. Oh, you probably can't.
Additionally, there are a lot of things going on: Clara's brother has moved in and she doesn't know why and it's not really even apparent anything is wrong until more than halfway through the book, Clara's best friend Heather is another semi-formed character who may or may not have marriage issues...I could go on, but I won't. I wish I had dropped this one. I'm kind of frustrated with myself for finishing it.

A little slow to start with, but picked up about halfway. I had a strong urge to yell at Clara about 98% of the time which is a big part of why I’m only giving this a 2.5. She was imaginative and had a way of seeing anything as possible. She was a hopeless romantic but I had an issue with how it was handled. Right when she finally started to figure things out, she fell right back in. Then couldn’t hold down a serious adult conversation and there was a lot of unnecessary arguing for what was supposed to be an adult story. When I was finished with the book, I found that I really wasn’t invested in any of the characters lives besides Adam, and even though he’s a main character I also felt as though somehow he was barely in it. There was character growth but only in surface ways that didn’t grab you, and when you did have something happen to add substance to the character it was just... blown off in an argument and stormed off with nothing more then a casual sentence about it later. I found myself waiting for the next ball to drop, rather then feeling happy about reading the story. I really only liked, and felt like I was reading a romcom when it was the end of the book. So.... 15 pages.

"Ten Things My Cat Hates About You" has everything I ask for in a quick read: romance, humor, and cats! This was an adorable romantic comedy, and I loved it! The ending felt a bit rushed, but otherwise, I enjoyed this book immensely.

When I saw this book title on sale on the Kobo store, I couldn't resist. As the human to a sassy cat myself, I wanted to see what kind of mischief our lovely Casper could get up to. And I was not disappointed.
Casper is a devious little shit, and I rather do love him for it. While my own cat does not get up to the extremes of Casper's antics, she's well-known for having scared off a suitor or two with her general sass and quirks. (And honestly, good riddance to them.)
Clara certainly has her hands full with Casper, but that doesn't stop her from trying to live her best life. She's got a job she enjoys, a best friend she adores, a pesky little brother, and the attention of two men who could not be more opposite each other. In short - Clara has her plate full.
Between the shenanigans of her devious cat, and the events that transpire rather as a result of said devious cat, I really grew fond of Clara. She's a dreamer, but she's snarky, stubborn, and exceedingly fierce. Through the course of the book, I really enjoyed getting to know her, and learning about her life, and her friends.
I loved watching how her relationships with her closest people changed over the course of the book. We don't magically just stop learning and growing when we hit adulthood. It's a continuous journey. Watching Clara go through this chink of her journey with her brother, her best friend, and her colleagues was really endearing to me.
While I personally wasn't too fond of the contrived love-triangle aspect of the book, I understand why Clara needed to experience it to really see what she wanted in a romantic partner. Her relationship with Josh never did anything for me - he was too shallow, and honestly kind of icky for me.
But I did enjoy her banter with Adam. It was fairly obvious Adam was the endgame relationship, and it was a bit of a tedious over-use of miscommunication as a plot device to get there. But get there we did - every snarky, ornery, bickering step of the way.
Overall, I was more impressed with how Clara's relationships with her friends, colleagues, and her brother developed and grew over the course of the book. The romance felt more like a sub-plot to me. But mostly, none of it could have happened without Casper there to wreak havoc, and support Clara as only the affections of a cat can.

This was an okay read for me. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me to make me wanna give it a higher rating. There were aspects of the book that I found boring and I felt like there was just something missing in this book (have no idea what it was though lol). There were also a lot of moments in the book where I found the MC so annoying, mainly because she was just so immature and unrelatable 😅 I also wish there were more scenes of Casper the cat because I was expecting there to be a lot more about him in the book based on the title and synopsis but we didn't actually see much from him sadly 🥺

I honestly felt really indifferent about this book. Halfway through it, when she accepted Josh back I was about to stop reading and it took me a lot of effort not to stop reading. Near the end I hated both Josh, Adam, AND Clara. But then the last 2 chapters redeemed their characters. Their characteristic and behaviors were messy, but that was what made it feel real. They were like real people, who cannot be altogether likeable because people make mistakes and that's okay, even if it is a whole lot aggravating.

I'll be honest, I went in for the cat based premise and for that there wasn't as much as promised. There were a lot of little odd occurrences within the story. And honestly it was rather predictable.

Absolute five stars !!! I LOVED this book omg. I laughed out loud so many times😂 the plot was A+ from start to finish. While it was a rom com, the story didn't shy away from exploring some serious topics. So far my fave book this year !!

This book wasn’t completely terrible, it just disappointed me. I wanted a cute romance, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. I rated it 2.5 stars and I can’t work out of it was because it was bad or simply because it disappointed me…
Ten Things I Hated About This Book
1. I knew who the final love interest was from the start.
I see nothing wrong with love triangles and uncertainty in a romance, but don’t make it clear from the start who Clara’s going to end up with. Make me want to keep reading to find out, make me root for my favourite, don’t make me roll my eyes when she’s adamant she’s not interested.
2. Clara felt a bit try-hard quirky.
Maybe I’m a bit harsh, but every romantic lead now has to like vintage dresses and sparkly shoes. But she also like beetroot lattes and never had anything in the fridge. Useless, but pretty, so it didn’t matter.
3. Both guys were super attractive, so it wouldn’t have mattered who she ended up with anyway.
One was obviously attractive, making Clara weak at the knees the first time she saw him. Smokin’ bod, blond, sparkly eyes. The other one’s geeky and obviously can’t then be sexy. But, little do we know, hidden beneath tweed jackets and glasses, he’s also ripped and has sparkly eyes too.
4. Conflict is necessary, but not *that* conflict.
Conflict should be something happening, not insults flying at each other. Couples that argue and authors that write this conflict are just rewriting The Notebook. If you rip someone apart and point out all their flaws before you’re together, you can’t then comfortably go into a relationship.
5. Don’t justify said conflict.
Going from that, don’t just wave away that conflict as a quirky part of the relationship. It’s not healthy to miss someone because you miss arguing with them.
6. I had to write my own happy ending.
As a reader, my job is to read a book, not write what happens to them. Especially if I didn’t like the book. I don’t want to think about them longer than necessary.
7. The other characters didn’t really exist.
Friends? Who are they? Brother? The interesting brother, who could have opened the door to grief and family and loss? Eh, resigned to a couple of chapters here and there. I’m pretty sure the parents are both dead and there was maybe a single line about how/why/when/where, even though this trauma nearly broke Clara when it happened.
8. Clara seemed to put the romance above everything else.
Whatever feelings the romance put her in, she’d sacrifice everything else for it. Upset? Walk out from work. Angry? Take it out on your only friend. Decide you can function without romance? Still be determined to fall in love.
9. I didn’t really like either blokes.
One was a commitment-phobe, who I’m pretty sure was only in it to prove he wasn’t just a lad. The other was as insulting as Clara.
10. The cat was the best part.
And we didn’t see enough of him, but he was the star when he did appear. Also, the blurb is very clear he’s ginger – why then make him grey on the cover?

Clara is content with her rescued cat Casper, bane of the neighborhood, general terrorist and hunter of small rodents extraordinaire. She’s still dealing with grief from her parents’ death some years back, and finding that her work at the museum as assistant curator has been her salvation. Of course, there’s still Jeremy, her boss, and some pretty regular academics in their small Oxford museum – but overall she loves it. There’s really not much wrong except the tiny niggles about her best friend Heather’s life and marriage, or her own difficulties with Casper savaging her dates, once she brings them home. She’s convinced that he’s a great judge of character, and feels that his acceptance of a prospective man will be the key to her finding marriage and a partner just like Heather – even if she’s also quick to dismiss ‘needing a man’ outright. But with a surprise visit and stay from her younger brother, and Casper finding yet more trouble when he’s nearly run over by a bicyclist who takes great offense to his accident.
But when a cut necessitates an emergency vet visit, and the new vet is not only attractive but finds Casper’s many antics IN the clinic during visits amusing, and sparks fly between Clara and Jeremy the vet – Clara gets ideas. See – I adored Clara, although she was a bit immature when it came to relationships and her romantic side: but who doesn’t want all the hearts, flowers and special moments? The thing is – Clara moves fast, and into love quickly- while Jeremy perhaps wasn’t so keen. Then there is the professor, Adam. A far more intriguing choice for Clara – in that he balances her ditzy side and keeps her grounded and thinking, even if Casper hates him (like he does most men), and she can’t seem to figure out why he’s always so ‘grounded’.
Lucas created a really clever story here – where people learn, grow and find new footing with new information, plenty of hijinks and terrorism from one orange tomcat and some lovely moments where fancy takes first place. Speaking to miniatures, truly enjoying her work and the museum, rearranging (and occasionally talking with) the miniature Victorian portraits and being on a first-name basis with the Fire Chief (simply because of your terroristic cat) can’t be a bad premise for a story – right? Well, add in some serious self-discovery for Clara, a wonderful romantic gesture from one of the men in her life and some great friends and a twist of fate to bring more family together and you get this – a great read for the season – with no holiday expectations whatsoever as you wander through Oxford streets, spend time watching a cat and generally enjoying the atmosphere!

As a lover of both cats and romance novels, I absolutely adored this novel! Clara was a riot, as was Casper, and I found myself laughing out loud multiple times at both their antics. I also got warm fuzzies at certain parts, especially when Casper put his paw on Adam's hand in a mini truce.
At times I did find the love triangle a tad tedious, and wish she had discovered who "the one" was a biiit earlier on, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed Clara's self-discovery that you don't have to lower your standards or decrease your demand for romance and true love...you just have to be a bit patient and willing to notice those who are standing right in front of you. I also enjoyed that the man she didn't' chose didn't turn out to be a total villain or jerk, as tends to happen in these types of romances. He had his own version of self-growth, and I appreciated how her plot-lines with both men ultimately played out. The secondary characters, such as her co-workers, friends, and brother, were all well-fleshed out, their unique personalities and humor all showing through and helping to keep the story engaging and relatable.
I'm honestly hoping this comes out as a physical book and not just ebook, because I'd gladly order a copy for my grandmother for Christmas. She's a fellow cat lady and romance lover, and I think she'd adore it. Basically, I completely recommend this to anyone who wants a feel-good romcom with a spectacular fluffy ginger lead!

I also enjoyed that the man she didn't' chose didn't turn out to be a total villain or jerk, as tends to happen in these types of romances. He had his own version of self-growth, and I appreciated how her plot-lines with both men ultimately played out. The secondary characters, such as her co-workers, friends, and brother, were all well-fleshed out, their unique personalities and humor all showing through and helping to keep the story engaging and relatable.
I'm honestly hoping this comes out as a physical book and not just ebook, because I'd gladly order a copy for my grandmother for Christmas. She's a fellow cat lady and romance lover, and I think she'd adore it. Basically, I completely recommend this to anyone who wants a feel-good romcom with a spectacular fluffy ginger lead!

While romcom is not typically the genre I delve into, I am obsessed with cats and really wanted to give this one a try! I expected some comedy, snark, and sneakiness from a cat hell bent on hating the new man in town. What we get is an angsty cat named Casper who, unfortunately, causes a bike accident instigating a meeting between Adam and Clara. Clara is smitten immediately and runs several scenarios through her head on happily ever afters. Unfortunately he couldn’t pick her face out in a crowd if asked until a second meeting ends in a kiss. Clara brings Casper to yet another vet and meets Josh: the warm and compassionate new vet who believes he can handle Caspers spunkiness.
The book reads like a “dear diary” of a teenager not used to attention and not being able to grasp the nuances of of adult relationships. She plays around with one guy while missing the cues of the other one actually wanting a relationship with her. She believes she’s in a relationship that was never a relationship and almost ends up alone completely.
The cat has little to do with the actual storyline except when she uses the cat to describe her own feelings by playing them off as things the cat dislikes.
Overall the book is a good read and easy to get through as long as you can reminisce your own teenager angst to relate
