❤️ Get ready to fall in love ... you deserve it! ❤️
After 5 minutes of talking we have insta crap, they feel like they've known each other their entire lives and the mousy heroine knows Walker is NOT like the other guys. Oh, and they go to a motel for a quick fuck.
Romance genre: mountain man Series: Men of Whiskey Mountain Length: 242 pages
Plot: Waverly is running from someone after the death of her sister, and when she ends up in Alaska she meets Walker. They have a great night together but she has to leave. It turns out, though, that they're both running from the same person, and Waverly needs to get back to Walker where she belongs. There's some surprising information also as they confront their common enemy.
Commentary: Good first book in a series - more suspenseful and definitely longer than most of this author's books. It was easy to see how this book would lead into the next, and I like series that have connected characters. The sister's story was a surprise, as was Walker's connection to the bad guy. The heroes in the series are definitely grey - usually, they are heroes without question, but these guys have a past that is not always pretty.
Normal read for me, flap the pages super quick because I think the plots was boring.
Yes, I did feel connections between them, so that’s the reason I gave two stars, it was well written but the story was really not my interest. I love H of this one, and heroine was just ok for me.
I recently don’t want to read complicated plots along with MCs’ past. I don’t care and I don’t want to know past stories, sometimes those backgrounds are really boring.
I just want everything I read to be smooth and happy and no more painful memories.

Really couldn’t connect with the characters. Everything was so rushed and I expect some suspension of disbelief in a romance, but this was so implausible. Love and everything happened too soon without there seeming to be a true connection.
The plot was a bit bonkers, full of crazy coincidences. I’ve seen people write they were on the edge of the seat that wasn’t my experience at all.
It looks like I am in the minority with this one looking at the ratings, but nearly gave up half way through. Was quite disappointed after seeing such high ratings.
This one was just ok for me. I started out really liking how Waverly and Walker met, liked that they went with their attraction, but then the amount of coincidences had me rolling my eyes. It was really hard to buy everything. I was glad that things worked out for them in the end. But I'm not interested enough to keep reading the series.
1 month, 5 weeks and she was pregnant. A day later, he almost dies, and finds out she is having twins? I ain’t no mother nor dr so I wouldn’t know, but TWINS AT 5 WEEKS? LOOSING YOUR VIRGINITY TO A STRANGER? GETTING PREGNANT FROM THAT ONE NIGHT STAND? This book got only worst lol
DNF @ 34%.....maybe something is just wrong with me.
2 Stars for Cover, Story Setting, & Steamy-ness.
For me to add any book to my TBR list (ARC or not), it has to snag my attention one way or another.... the blurb has to at least capture my interest & be something I enjoy. But for some reason, when it came time for Walker I almost dreaded it. Past experiences tend to prove the ones I dread are the ones that end up being my fav reads....it remained to be seen with this one. I hadn't read or heard of Frankie Love but I was willing to dive in & give it my all....was it worth it? Or was the dread a warning for what was to come? Here is the thing, I made a promise to myself not to waste time on any more books I didn't like or couldn't get into. Judging by the great reviews, this must be one of those very rare "odd man out" deals.....
Regardless this landed on my DNF shelf at 34%. And to not waste too much more time, here in a nut shell are my reasons, but be warned bc it could get slightly spoiley: 1. There is ZERO connection made before LOVE is spoken of. I'm talking these go from sitting on opposite sides of the bar one minute to doing whatever it takes to save/protect the other in the next. LOVE didn't need to exist for their passionate night to happen, so not sure why the author didn't put the effort into making it feel authentic....there are plenty of plots that move forward with the whole "rescue/protect" premise without it being LOVE at first. 2. The writing style was one I just couldn't get used to. There is a lot of purposeful repetition, which would work to put power behind certain dialogue IF it wasn't a tool used SO OFTEN. Not only that, but it was crazy to me (for example), that in a pretty dire situation where he was desperate to get her away from a certain group before they hurt her.... 3. Just overall lack of anything that felt deeper than a smutty book with an overload of danger all under the guise of a love that isn't remotely believable. By the 4th time I feel asleep during the short span of reading (especially considering everything happening), I had to give up & stop torturing myself.
Like I said before, for this book to have so many amazing ratings I must just be either missing what makes it so great or the rare person who just doesn't find this kind of stuff enjoyable. I'm only 35, so still young enough to get into all kinds of storylines, and I even flipped through to see these "plot twists" everyone said they didn't see coming just to see if I would change my mind....nope, one big plot twist I knew would happen as soon as that subject was even touched on. It definitely did zero for me at any point in the 34%. It may be a great read for you and if so I'm glad you could connect to it. But I personally need certain things in my reads to make them worthy of my time and as much as I wanted this to be one of them, it just didn't hit any of the marks.

I have always held a fascination with Alaska, I have to go there someday. This story just cranked my desire to see Alaska up to an eleven. Waverly has traveled to Alaska on a mission. The night before she embarks on the last leg of the trip, she meets the most amazing guy. Walker is enthralled with Waverly and they spend the night together. The night changes Walker and he knows she is it for him. There is no way she didn't feel it too. When he wakes up, she is gone. When he does track her down, things are so much more complicated than he thought. He knows he has to have Waverly in his life, so he will do everything he can to make her his. The synopsis and my little run down are just the tip of the iceberg that is this book. It was so much more than I expected, brimming with emotions. There were a few surprises and along with the storytelling kept me riveted to the pages. I loved Walker and Waverly's story, two lonely people needing love and a place to call home.
I read this book in one sitting. It was so good. The story was non-stop in the drama department. You will be on the edge of your seats wanting to see what happens next. Walker and Waverly were such a great couple. You can feel the love that they have for each other coming off the pages. The chemistry between them was off the charts. That epilogue and how it ended. I need more of Whiskey Mountain. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

DNF - quit at 34% I don't know, something about this just didn't work for me. I didn't feel the relationship between Waverly & Walker was realistic, and the whole story seemed forced. Nothing felt natural or believable, and the characters were flat at the point I quit reading.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
In true Frankie Love fashion not only did this story lock me in from the opening pages but the characters were instant favorites. Packed to the top with hot, sometimes raunchy, sex scenes and enough action that you do not get bored Walker and Waverly's tale of second chances and new beginnings is one you will have a blast reading.
Sweet, but just way too pat. It’s a story where you don’t totally get lost in the world, and never quite forget you are reading a story. Everything just moves too fast at and it feels pushed.
Wow so loved this book great characters and story line Walker leaving his old life behind him living on Whiskey Mountain and Waverley running from her old life as the two meet from their first night together they where on this story together both Waverley and Walkers past catch up to them neither knowing it was the same man they where running from. Maker Walkers brother wants his drugs and money back that Waverley stole from him and doesn’t believe that they weren’t in it together but they weren’t. This leaves Waverley with Maker while Walker gets the drugs and money from where Waverley left them Maker explains what happened on the boat the night her sister died and that the life Maker is living isn’t the one he wanted but needed to get this drop done so the cartel would leave him alone. My Walker Review . . .
I have to admit it was the cover that reeled me in than I liked the synopsis but the story in the end. Not so much. This is the first time reading this author and I liked elements of it but there were too many over the top parts that turned me off.
I thought Walker was going to be a rugged mountain man. And he was kind of but he was also a transplant into Alaska as he was running from the mob.
Then there was Waverly whom was a virgin. I'm not sure if that helped or hindered the story line. They meet have a one night stand where she felt no pain as a virgin. Hmmmmm. And didn't think of a condom. Hmmmmm enter predictable story line ahead.
Waverly is also running from something then ends up at a cult which felt random, then ends up realizing Waverly and Walker's past intersect.
The random plot twists through out which didn't feel organic instead it felt forced. I wanted to like this book so bad but it was a mix of predictable and over the top. Boo :( I have another inkling of interest at the end to continue but I'm not sure if I will get more of the same with the story line. I will put this series on hold for now.
i don't know much about writing erotica but i'm assuming the aim is to create a clear and vivid picture in the reader's head.. but when the writer writes lines like "his bush plane was filled to the gills with several rubbers" it is very ambiguous as to what we are meant to imagine. its straight out of lovecraft.
but, it is interesting how all the men of whiskey mountain have names like walker, beam, jameson and daniels. its great world building, yet the author misses an opportunity to name the female characters after things like prosecco, cruiser and shandy. and how come the characters are always licking their lips? maybe it's a whiskey mountain thing, but in my real life i very rarely ever see people licking their lips unless they are eating a delicious ice cream or spag bog. and even then, they'll usually wipe their mouth with the back of their hand
and i was hoping this book would be set in the ozarks or appalachia, but somehow its set in alaska, which makes me worry about the shirtless man on the cover catching a cold, and maybe this is why he needs several layers of latex protection to avoid frostbite.
men of whiskey mountain may titilate the clowns living in bizarro world or lala land, but i am a normal person
Well I miss my Mountain Men, it's been a while and glad I read this book it remind me how much I miss reading Frankie 's books. I'm going through all my free books and hate to say it but not everything that is free is good 😣🙁. I give new books at least 6 chapters before deciding and I kept reading this book without realizing it was from Frankie Love which just confirms I do like her writing, yeah!🤓
This story is about Walker a sexy ex gang member that decided to leave the life his dad had started selling drugs and dealing with the Cartel and took off to Alaska to start over, he left behind his brother in charge after their dad died. Waverly is a young 22 yr old Virgin that run away to Alaska after going through a traumatic event. She and her sister where hire as escorts for a drug dealer yacht party where things went wrong. Waverly thought her sister Jemma overdose and died. Without realizing Walker and Waverly lives where entwined it turn out the drug dealer is Walker brother Maker. It has suspense, and hot sex! Can't wait to read next book.💋
Waverly is on the run from some very bad guys...see, she took something that they want really badly! She arrives in Alaska and has a one night stand with bush pilot, Walker, then she continues to her final destination...a survivalist compound. Of course, life on the compound is not what she thought and she’s more than ready to escape when Walker shows up. There’s so much action, drama and steamy times packed into this short book that you’ll be engaged fro the get go. Great narration by this team.
None of the books from FL have incredible lovemaking, I'll go as far as grading a D in all the previous books I've read, but this one gets an F... DNF, stopped by chapter 6. Spoiler/Clip from the book: . . . . . "It's hard — the way he fills me up. I bleed, but I don't want to stop and neither does he. We keep on, we keep on keeping on until we’re speechless, dripping with sweat and wrapped up in one another. My body is his body and his body is mine. And oh, my God, he fucks me until I come. Until I scream his name and I can't breathe. Until I beg him for more and he takes me again."
This was a pretty quick, mostly enjoyable read. Great intro to the other men - and maybe some of the women - who will be in the series.
I liked the premise, but there was some of Waverly's backstory, and Jemma's, that didn't exactly jive. Idk how to explain. Anyway, I loved Walker's heart & Waverly's compassion! Their story has quite the steam component, too.
Glad to see the other men mentioned in Walker will be getting their HEAs! And the twist at the end...!!
Waverly is on the run, trying to find hope and a reprieve from all of the crap life has thrown at her. Instead, she finds Walker. They each have plenty of baggage that they need to confront throughout the story...and they aren't done yet. I really like this series starter. There are twists and turns and plenty of secrets that keep things interesting. Plus, there are the sparks that fly between these two on a regular basis. The setup for the next book looks promising to be another adventure.
This nonstop drama will have you glued to the pages as only Frankie can provide! Walker and Waverly are compelling characters that are tied together in a pact that has them trying to stay one step ahead of Walker's brother. When everything comes out into the open will Waverly still feel the same way for Walker and can he keep her safe from his brother?

The first chapters of the book started out great. It read like a "meant to be romance. It started to lose me when the commune was introduced and when Walker somehow feels like she's his wife after that first sexual encounter. It just moved a bit too fast for me to really believe their relationship. In addition, I think the backstory between the two of them was easy to guess. I didn't really enjoy the "past" catching up to them, but wanted more to read more about them both.
Waverly and Walker meet when they are both needing something they can't define. What they experience together is so much more then either can imagine. When they discover each other's past they are in for a massive journey to being together. So much excitement and truth brings love and family together.
Wavely is in the run from the mob, runs into Walker and had one great night 😜🔥🍹. Walker rescue Wave from a cult group finding she has real feels for Walker. But both have great secrets that may harm their relationship. This was a very good story kept me reading for this author my first book. So now I am on to book two. Hope it is just as good.
I’m a huge fan of Frankie’s writing but this one just wasn’t my favorite. I liked Walker and Waverly’s connection but I felt like there were a lot hoke in the story that could have been filled in given the length of the story. I really wanted to love this cause I’m all about a mountain man but I didn’t really connect with it.
Amazing dual narration from Jameson Adams, Kelsey Navarro
Walker lives alone, trying to escape his past when he meets Waverly, the sparks fly, fate has brought these two together for a reason. This book will grab your attention it is full of suspense, red hot scenes, excellent characters, and a plot twisted story.
Walker storyline was so interesting that it completely captivated me and was so intrigued that I couldn’t stop reading it until I finished with the very last word. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing book. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series “The Men of Whiskey Mountain”. Enjoy happy reading 📚
