At the Academy of the Devil, weakness is anathema, hope is unheard of, and students die one after the other in their quest to become the next Satan. How, then, can a human hope to survive?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the girl who didn’t fit in, the epileptic trying to build a life despite my seizures. I had a plan, a way to move forward, to surpass my condition.
Everything was torn asunder when I received an invitation to attend The Academy of the Devil. All of a sudden, I’ve been thrust into a whole new world, one populated by demons, ancient deities, ghosts, and more secrets than should ever exist. I have to learn how to wield my new powers and survive long enough to go back to my family.
It would be a little easier if I wasn’t slowly falling in love with the unlikeliest people possible. Before long, I find myself engaged in a complicated relationship with the princes of the school, incubus Callum, cambion Mikael, and hell hound Stefan. Known for the ruthless ways they eliminate any threat to their position, they’re still just attracted to me as I am to them. Then there’s Dean Mephistopheles, who has his own agenda, but who turns my blood to fire whenever he summons me to detention. And let’s not forget Lucifer, the Brightest Star, the Fallen One, who’s somehow determined to make me his queen. Or is he?
At the Academy of the Devil, nothing is what it seems. I can’t trust anyone, not even myself. Where will this journey end?
The Academy of the Devil boxset contains the three Academy of the Devil books, as well as a bonus, previously unpublished novella, A Devilish Graduation.
Book 1. A Hellish Year One Book 2. A Demonic Year Two Book 3. A Sinful Year Three Extra Epilogue. A Devilish Graduation
The series contains dark themes, including ableism, torture, mutilation, death, graphic violence. Don’t step into The Academy of the Devil if you are not prepared!
I read the book separately and I got the boxset just for the epilogue. Although the author does a good job in keeping the demons' evil nature consistent throughout the series, the same cannot be said for Alyssa. I lost interest and the "page-turning feeling" after book 1.
A Hellish Year One Will say I wasn't sure to give this book a 4 or 5 star, but it did bring in how people with Epilepsy struggle to fit in. Alyssa has been bullied her whole life because of her seizures, but now that she is at the Academy of the Devil it hasn't changed. They hate humans and I'm human. My dog Shiro is a familiar and they think I should not have one. The three princess are driving her mad. She can not figure them out. Will she be able to handle being there? Can she figure out what is with Callum, Mikael, and Stefan? If they hate humans so much why is she there?
A Demonic Year Two Loved this book. We have some suspense, mystery and oh so much want for these guys. We have Alyssa who is still struggling with the school and her feelings for the 4 men in her life. They still have a problem with my men, but who cares. What will happen when she finds out about some lies? What will happen if they perform so magic? Can she forgive? Can she protect? Why is everyone so scared of a human? Will my guys survive this year with me? What about is really happening this year at the academy?
A Sinful Year Three This story comes to an end, but not without you wondering what really happens after. This is why I only gave it 4 stars, I hate not knowing everything. Alyssa has some hard realities this year. So many struggles which her guys and Lucifer. What will happen? Can she except the truth? Can her men accept her decisions? Can they protect her and themselves? What are the truths?
Just wow!! Such vivid descriptions of Hell, Heaven, angels, demons and all different kind of creatures. I am so glad I got to read this series in one complete book aka collection. Alyssa who has epilepsy and gets seizures is told be a creature called an imp. He told due to a long ago curse it is her responsibility to go to Academy of the Devil and learn about them while taking classes. This academy picks the next Satan. Yes, the ruler of Hell. Alyssa is the only human at this academy and is treated cruelly at first. Then later she meets the princes I the school. Stefan is a hellhound and Head of the House of Wrath, Callum is an Incubus and Head of the House of Lust and Mikael is a cambion(half angel/half demon). The dean is Dean Mephistopheles and Lucifer is in charge of the House of Pride. This story gets very deeply involved and so many things happen to Alyssa good and very bad. Very sexy love scenes and there are M/F/M scenes then later M/M/M Lots of descriptive scenes, so be prepared. Glad I read this series now on to the Watcher series.
I love books with demons and angels and hell and this was a very intriguing story!
The plot was not at all cliché. I didn't know what to expect tbh but I can say it did exceed my expectations. There were so many twists and theories that I lost count.
I was massively surprised when the secrets came out and it wasn't just one! The transition from single to multiple POVs also went smoothly even though it was abrupt. I loved the depth it gave and it wasn't confusing in the least!
Overall, it was a good series. Lots of wishy washy thoughts from the female lead character. I didn’t like how she was easily manipulated, she realizes it then Runs in the other direction and then is easily manipulated by someone she shouldn’t trust, who’s hurt her before. Makes stupid decisions that hurt everyone because of course she listened to someone who had turned on her before. I wrote our several Reviews for the individual books. The storyline was good, but the ending left a lot to be desired.
I absolutely adored this whole series. It was unique, riveting, and the steam was off the charts. It was never predictable and the twists and turn will keep you wrapped up from beginning to end.
I was absolutely not disappointed with this series! I have read and loved other books written by Eva! She has amazing talent and I will continue with reading anything she writes!
This series is amazing. I had read the first three books but was anxiously awaiting the forth and final instalment and it did not disappoint. I would recommend this to anyone.
This was a good read, if repetitive at times. I loved the world created, but the focus on details was a little much at times. The internal dialogue was interesting as well.
I am looking forward to reading the continuation of the story as well.
