Book 3 in the High Plains Shifters series but can be read as a stand-alone story.

Rayne dreamed of the day Ringo would claim her as his mate, changing her into the lycan she is meant to be. One touch from his hands burns her with a flame hot enough to scorch the Texas plains. But the moody lycan has made it clear he doesn’t want her. That’s just too damn bad! The sexy Latino lycan belongs to her and she aims to claim him, no matter what it takes.

Ringo hides the pain of his tortured past behind a menacing sneer. Learning that Rayne is meant to be his mate is unwelcome news. She deserves better than to be saddled with a man with his checkered past. It isn’t until she is taken from him that he knows she is the only woman who can heal his battered soul.

Regina Carlysle is an award winning, multi-published author. She likes writing that is hot, edgy, and often humorous, and puts this trademark stamp on all of her stories. Regina lives in west Texas with her husband of 25 years and counting and is a doting, fawning, and over-indulgent mother to her two kids. When she's not penning steamy erotic tales or hot contemporary stories, she's indulging in long chats with friends who help her stay sane and keep her laughing.

I love this series! I was particularly looking forward to Ringo’s Ride because I wanted to see how Ms. Carlysle turned Ringo around into someone likeable, because he was an ass in previous books. Ah, the poor, tortured soul! He redeemed himself damn well and I got a good look into his psyche (not to mention his pants! Ooh la la!). There’s something about a bad boy, don’t you think? Ringo appears a bad boy, all gruff and surly, but he isn’t deep down. He just hadn’t met the right woman.

Although he already knew Rayne, he hadn’t realised she was his mate until recently, and even then he didn’t want to become too attached to her, believing she could do better than him. However, Rayne had confidence in him, knew he wasn’t the somewhat moody man he showed himself to be, and her faith in him was very touching.

After Rayne was taken, it’s up to Ringo to rescue her—and keep their pack safe from some nasty fellas who insist on causing trouble. Selena, a total bitch from the previous book, is in with them, and she’s always held a candle for Ringo. Well, she just needed to bugger the hell off, because Ringo wasn’t interested in her, and I didn’t want her swaying him in any way with regards having “good” feelings for her. No. Once again, I wanted to scratch her eyes out.

Sheltered, quiet Rayne Poteet hoped Ringo Ramone would hurry and be done with his wild oats phase and claim her But being the son of a traitor, Ringo didn't think he deserved a mate but if he did, Rayne would be a nice one to have. This outing begins where Lone Star Lycan ends, with the unmated females kidnapped by rogues and Ringo and Rayne realizing they were mates.

Ringo couldn't be stopped from giving chase. Or from catching, as he left the distraught fathers in the dust when he rode hard to collect his mate and the others. His wolf was on him to claim his mate but his mind was telling him to leave her alone and not claim her. Rayne cannot be convinced they are mates and believes Ringo will come for her.

This short is mostly erotica and if that is not your cuppa, this is not your read. Also this series of shorts does have recurring characters they can be read as stand alones.

I read an ARC copy of this book and was enthralled by Ms. Carlysle's characters and the depth of emotion they conveyed.

Her characters are beautifully drawn and exciting. Her plots drag the reader in and hold them to the very last page. This book is the third in a shapeshifter series, and should be read as a followup to Lone Star Lycan. Although this can be read as a stand-alone novel, the book starts where Lone Star Lycan ends.

If you love hot shapeshifter romance, this is a definite "must-read"!
