Holiday Romance #2

The Problem With Cupid

Rate this book
After Evan's relationship fail during Christmas vacation, he heads back to college with a new plan. It's time for a break from dating. He doesn't want to quit the game completely though. Garland, his funny, lovable, down-to-earth roommate, is constantly talking to girls. And never asking them out.

Evan might be on a romantic hiatus but that doesn't mean he can't help his best friend find love. So, when Evan meets Abby in student government class, he trades in his player card for Cupid's bow. She and Garland would be perfect together and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know they'll never hook up without help.

His matchmaking scheme works brilliantly. A little too brilliantly. By the time Garland and Abby start hitting it off, Evan has grown quite fond of her. That's the problem with playing Cupid. If you're not careful, you run the risk of getting shot by your own arrow.

The most important thing to know about me is that I'm basically a sixteen-year-old trapped in an adult's body. It's why I feel such a great connection to all of my characters and why I love to write romantic comedy. The kid in me just wants to be goofy. Besides being a writer; I'm a wife, mother of five, volleyball enthusiast and home decorating guru. My list of favorites includes: reading, Christmas, pedicures, dessert, steak, Arizona winters and most importantly, Diet Coke.

This book played like a movie in my mind! The author does a great job of making it easy to visualize the characters and their mannerisms, and I love the humorous tone that runs throughout the story. Is there a term for two people who think they have unrequited love for each other but are actually both secretly in love? Whatever it's called, it's one of my favorite tropes! Plenty of hidden yearning and romantic tension. Evan is trying to play it cool, but just can't help himself when it comes to Abby. I love when characters fall hard for someone who isn't their usual type! Abby is hilarious with the things she says that slip past her filter, and she's easy to like. A super fun "new adult" romance! I hope the author continues to write more in this loosely connected series!

The Problem With Cupid was so cute and I couldn't stop smiling. If you're looking for a quick read and enjoy NA Romance that's sweet and adorable, then you'll want to add this one to your tbr!
The first rule of being just friends with a girl is that you can’t kiss her. No matter how tempting it is. Especially when you’re trying to hook her up with your roommate.

I read The Trouble With Christmas and absolutely cherished that story. Evan was the brother's best friend in that book, but confession time....I didn't like him. I had my eye on someone else for the heroine, so my thoughts weren't kind to Evan, ack. But I enjoyed The Trouble With Christmas so much that I wanted to give Evan's story a shot. I'm so glad I did because not only did I enjoy this book, but I fell hard for Evan too!
“Get back here, you coward!” she yelled.
“No way!” I yelled back. “I don’t trust you not to maim me.” I grinned wickedly at her but slowed to a stop.
When she caught up, she slugged me in the arm. “That’s for being a brat.”
I pulled her into a hug.

Having to sign up for a club, sport, or student association, Evan signed up for student government representatives in college. And on his first day he met shy, bookworm Abby. While Evan was outgoing, confident and cocky, Abby was quiet and seemed to try and blend in. Right away Evan started joking around with Abby and it was impossible not to smile at their antics. Because while Evan could tease her ruthlessly, Abby could give it right back. So I laughed out loud and couldn't stop smiling with all the attention Evan directed at Abby.
I honestly felt guilty for ruining his date. I tried really hard to feel bad about it, too. But I couldn’t.

We got the whole story in Evan's head, which I loved, and he thought Abby would be perfect for his roommate, Garland. They were both quirky with different senses of humor. So Evan tried to make sure him that they hung out with Abby and her roommate. The moments that the four of them were together was entertaining! But for wanting to setup his friend with Abby, he surrrrrrre had a difficult time not flirting with her lol. And the more time he spent around Abby, the more he liked her. What's a guy to do?!
Some cupid I was. I’d shot myself with my own arrow.

The Problem With Cupid was a delightful story set around Valentine's Day and I loved every minute of this novella. Now I can't wait to read Garland' story next around the fourth of July wheeee!

Cute, Fluffy Young Love

Cute, fluffy young love. Evan was flirty and fun. I enjoyed his growing awareness of Abby and his desire to be a good friend. The snow scene was yummy. This is a fun, young feeling clean romance.

I loved this short, cute, funny read. Daniels has a fun style, that is so easy to read, you breeze through the pages. Nothing serious, a few good laughs and some good romance. Evan is really clueless when it comes to understanding his own heart, but it made me nod and think, yes, most guys are. At least ones like Evan. I loved Garland, and hope Daniels will write another book with his story.

-‘I was relieved to know I had backup. This matchmaking stuff was uncharted territory for me. Sam seemed like the type of girl who’d probably done it a time or two. “Thanks. I don’t have a solid plan yet, but when I do, you’ll be the first to know.”’-

This story is a sequel to The Trouble with Christmas in that the story continues with Garland an Evan (Chrissy’s brother and his best friend) at college. Evan meets Abby, a cute girl that he is attracted to, but then decides to set her up with Garland. Sometimes, too much alike doesn’t make a great match. Is it true what they say? Do opposites attract? Or maybe they aren’t so opposite as first thought?

This book is full of fun, flirty banter and it’s completely realistic. It’s fast-paced and totally cute. I definitely recommend it.
Cute and flirty teen romance.

Cupid's arrow zinged straight to my heart!

The sneak peek of Evan in The Trouble with Christmas whetted my appetite and I was so excited to get to know him better and get his story in this book.

Evan is a charmer, an only child, and a hilarious man. Women flock to him, but when he meets shy and mousy, Abby, in a college class one day, he decides she'd be the perfect woman for his roommate, Garland. Enter...Evan's role as the matchmaker!

I LOVED this story and adored the subtle message that the surface and first impressions aren't everything. I loved that Evan's light-hearted personality brought out the snark and sass in Abby and allowed her to zing him right and left, as it made for some very entertaining banter. The matchmaking attempts were both heartbreaking and sweet, as Evan learned to think of others and to keep his loyalty because bromance before romance, right?

Robin Daniels has a perfectly accurate way of shooting a love arrow straight to my heart. Her stories resonate with me and fill me full of all the happy feels. This one was a definite winner!

⚠️ Warning: has spoilers from previous book

Super good!! Really cute, quick read. I think the boys’ flirting was a little over the top, but overall a really good story!

I liked that this one was in a boy’s perspective. I also liked how it was about Evan. Even though I loved that Chrissy ended up with Nate in the first novella, I always felt sorry for Evan, so I’m glad this one was about him. ❤️

*prediction* Garland’s story is next??🤞

While I enjoyed this one for the most part I didn't like it quite as much as the first. I wasn't really a fan of Evan from the first book and I can't say this book really helped. He is arrogant but not in the charming way. It was more annoying. I did really like Abby though. Garland was alright, I'm hoping the next book in the series will be more about him. I think I would like that better.

It was a good read

It was a good read. Nothing special. Very cliche. I wish I could've read it from the heroine's POV too. Her books are always fun to read.

Absolutely adorable

And sweet and funny.

Definitely a shorter read, but it had the right amount of angst to keep things interesting. Definitely recommend if looking for a laugh.

I adore this book! The Problem With Cupid by Robin Daniels is the second book in her novella series Holiday Romance and follows Evan, the failed romantic interest from book one. If you enjoy romantic comedies and sweet romance, you are in for a treat with this one.

I loved Evan in the first book, so when I saw that he was getting his own story (at Valentine’s Day no less!) I knew I had to read it. Evan is the classic playboy, lots of dating and never really into anything serious. After his failed attempt to date Garland’s sister over Christmas break, Evan is reevaluating his love life and taking a pause on the dating scene. But just because he’s hitting the breaks doesn’t mean his roommate has too. And so Evan decides to play Cupid. He will set his quirky roommate up with the perfect girl….as soon as he finds her.

Meet Abby. Abby is the quintessential nerdy, shy girl. And she’s hot. Perfect for Garland in Evan’s opinion. Abby is sweet, her sense of humor odd, but she makes Evan laugh. And she intrigues him. He can’t get enough of his new friend. The only problem, he’s supposed to be finding a girl for Garland, not himself.

Overall I really enjoyed this short holiday romance. Daniels delivers a sweet, steamy romance that will leave you smiling long after you finish the book. If you enjoy novellas and college romance, I highly recommend it!
