The Fae Lord's Companion
I know this is not the proper thing to do but, this review encompasses several books that I have read by this author. Before I begin, let me say that I would give each one three stars because they were intriguing and kept me flipping pages. These books by this author are long, I don't have a problem with that except for the fact that I felt some of the issues between the couples could have been solved quickly. I struggle reading a story where the characters are adults but they act like teenagers.
Bound by the Mist was good but, I wanted to shake some sense into Cal and I wanted the author to allow the characters to spend more quality time together without them constantly bickering and talking about the bond. I wanted them to develop a genuineness where they could understand why the bond was essential to the relationship. I felt the author should have focused a bit more on world-building.
The Fae Lord's Companion 1 and 2 focused too much on Lina being disgruntled. I wanted there to be a period of resting and trusting in her and Gabreon's relationship. I was very frustrated with these two at times, but more so with Lina. I did think the author salvaged this story by introducing Gabreon's grandfather. I love Tamion and want more of him.
I really couldn't connect with any of these couples because it felt as if they were in courtship or battle mode throughout their relationships. With each book being as long as it was, there should have been significant periods of growth and understanding. I do hope that as the series precedes with the Fae Lord's Companion, things will get much better. As I said previously, the author kept me reading because there was plenty of suspense to make me want to know what was going to happen next.

I was going to give this 4 stars until I reached the ending. Before I talk about that, let me say that I loved the concept of this book and the world building. The world building isn't just dumped on you but you quickly discover bits about the world, either through the character going places or worrying about the Sidhe/Fae.
Both of the main characters are fairly well developed and go through some development and changes through the story. I liked how the relationship happened within the world, and that prejudice does impact them. I also liked how they didn't immediately fall in love with each other like couples do in other books, and I did like the internal conflict of both of them concerning the relationship. The only part I didn't like was the first time they have sex and it's coerced and dubious because of the nature of the relationship and how it started but did work in the context of the story so it was tolerable.
I did keep wanting to read this book which was why I was going to give it 4 stars but the ending was really exciting until it actually came to the end of the book. Then it was suddenly cut off so there was no satisfying resolution and it is just disappointing.

This was a free ebook on my Nook and free fae themed ebooks are my jam! I had higher hopes for this book based on the beauty of the cover. I thought this was an average read because there were aspects of the world-building that I thought were amazing but then aspects of the relationship building that frustrated me. We have a human woman and a Fae Lord as our two main characters. I liked the Fae Lord better than the human woman, he felt like he was more fully fleshed out as a character than the human woman. It felt like the human woman constantly was changing her mind on things, which is understandable since she was swept away to the Fae side of the world but it did not read right to me. The only thing that I related with the human character was her lack of sexual experience and how she seemed to enjoy the act when it was happening but when she was left to go over it in her mind she overthought how she was enjoying it when she was not in love. I really liked the side/background characters. Overall, I liked the aspect of the world-building, the relationship building was weak to me, and the character development could have been better.

Good read
I liked the story which was unique and could have been more if it was longer. The characters were good, the evil plots were good and the overall story kept my interest. I was going to give it 3 stars but since it kept my attention and was unique I am giving it 4. Could be more and maybe the author will do a rewrite.

Someone didn’t read this thoroughly enough.
There are so many holes in the story. Timelines are screwy and so are plot lines. The sex scene was mediocre. Then I thought there would be more but no. No redemption. This had so much potential and was wasted.

This story had so much potential and had so many great aspects with world building and creating the fae hierarchy that I was excited to continue on. I did finish the story hoping that something exciting would happen that would cause a dramatic domino effect. But that was not the case. Lina is a strong character with a tough past that drives her to protect others. But my gosh with the repetitive inner monologues!! I had to skip pages in the book many times because she was continually going back and forth with her feelings/not feelings about Gabreon and how he “destroyed her life”. The author makes it a point to state a disclaimer about triggers for this story but I will be honest, it was 1 part in the story that I could say that may be a trigger for those against whipping. But it lasted like 1 page and then of course Lina is all better again! This story has one second of intimacy where Gabreon claims Lina as his companion. We are left to believe by the many inner thoughts of Lina that their intimacy is every night and somehow it causes her to gain real feelings for Gabreon but as a reader we have no idea of how that progresses. I could not connect with the characters at all except for in the beginning with Lina and then after listening to her almost whining thoughts for about 80% of the story and never Gabreon’s true inner thoughts, I just felt so disconnected with the story. Even the ending left me going “what just happened?” I couldn’t even call it a cliffhanger because it literally just ended without a buildup or even a thread for the reader to go “where’s the next book?” For such a long story I was disappointed that the connections that could have been displayed for the reader to build their own connections with the characters was just nonexistent.

OMG!
Lisa Kumar has taken the Fae world and turned it on its head! Fae taking over the earth and humans are downtrodden. This creative dystopian tale is about survival as much as it is a romance. The main characters, Lina, a human and Gabreon, a fae lord are soulmates. Of course in fae society humans are lower than animals, so Gabreon takes Lina as his mistress and this is when the fireworks start. This story is creatively crafted and well-written. The scenes are so vivid and real I actually smelled the garbage at the dump. The storyline has a smooth if slow flow and is an emotional rollercoaster that you will not want to put down. It does end in a cliffhanger, so be ready to look for the next book. I can’t wait to read it.

Cliffhanger Ending
The Fae Lord’s Companion, Part 1 has a great premise and interesting characters. The inner conflict of both Gabreon and Lina, as well as, the societal pressures stacked against them could have made for a delicious & interesting read. Instead, the story drags. A really good editor could help tighten up the plot to reach the story’s full potential. Most of all, the author needs to do away with the cliffhanger ending. It’s one thing to end a story where plot lines have yet to be resolved. It is unacceptable to me to end a story at the height of a climactic moment. Buyer beware.

I was searching booksprout for an ARC of one of my favourite themes - fantasy, Fae, forbitten love etc. I got it in this book.
The story is of a bit different concept as the Fae acts more like aliens than like real Fae people (if I look at books I previously read). It is interesting, just not mindblowing for me. The story flows easily, but slowly and FMC is a bit boring.
Still... the book is not bad at all. I think that some readers will definitely love it!

This is a good book, I enjoyed a different spin on fae, it's well written and Lina is such a great character in glad I picked this book up
