Wyldhaven #4

Consider the Lilies

Rate this book

When Jacinda Callahan lost her husband to an outlaw’s bullet years ago, she realized she simply couldn’t trust God to protect those she loves. So, though Marshal Zane Holloway has gently pushed his suit, she’s kept him at arm’s length. The last thing she needs is another man to worry about. But now the dratted marshal has been shot! He’s bleeding on her kitchen floor, and she realizes she might not have guarded her heart quite as well as she thought.

Zane has always sensed Jacinda’s underlying anxiety. That was the very reason he’d tried to hide this blasted bullet wound from her. But hang it if he isn’t all light-headed! And with a band of brigands on the loose! Right now, he doesn’t have the time or the strength to cosset her. She’s going to have to learn that the God who clothes the lilies, has a perfect plan for those in His care.

Jacinda is flooded with familiar fears as Zane rides off to confront the outlaws. Fears that turn to terror as day gives way to night and he still hasn’t returned. But this time she won’t stand by helplessly! Surely God’s perfect plan won’t be spoiled by a little help from her gun!

Take the next stagecoach to Wyldhaven,
where the coffee's perked hot,
the sheriff likes his apple pie fresh from the oven,
and adventure invariably waits just around the next river bend.

I loved this book. It was just what I needed with its message of not worrying. I've had my moments and like Jac, I tend to overthink sometimes although it doesn't help in any way.
This book was fast paced and held my attention from the start pulling me into this story of outlaws, gunfights love and learning to trust God wholeheartedly.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions expressed are mine

This 4th book in Lynnette Bonner's Wyldhaven series is just as good as the previous 3. This one is about Jacinda and Zane, and Jacinda's very real battle with fear. Something Zane said that really stuck out to me was, "We aren't to trust in God's PROTECTION, but in Him ALONE (emphasis mine)."

Fear is something I've always fought against, so this story really resonated with me. Plus a handsome Old West marshal doesn't hurt, either. 😉

Lots of twists and turns make this Louis l’Amour type western with a sweet romance a really fun read. A great addition to the series with lots of friends from previous books. Consider the Lilies can be read on its own with great plot, tension and lots of town folk you will love. Jacinda and Zane’s story was worth waiting for! Enjoy

A fast-paced read. Good action and suspense, but I was a bit disappointed that one of the subplots wasn't fully resolved. But my understanding is that it was setting up for a future book, so hopefully I can get that resolution soon.

Another great story in this series!

As always, I enjoyed getting to know the Wyldhaven citizens just a little bit better with each story. I love their strength, their commitment to their town and families, and their gumption. I must admit, I am fully invested in this small western town!

This story has strong themes of trusting God and not worrying. The author did a fabulous job of showing us how worry can prevent us from enjoying our lives and moving forward. She also showed us that by allowing ourselves to give in to worry we aren’t trusting God’s perfect plan for our lives. This topic was addressed in natural conversations between Zane and Jacinda, and in Jacinda’a thoughts as she worked things out in her mind. And later, in action as the character started to live out what they’ve come to learn.

I love how Lynnette Bonner focuses on one main spiritual struggle in each book and works everything out as the story proceeds, with the help of Scripture to back everything up. I find it very relatable and refreshing.

Now, on to look for more things Wyldhaven...

Jacinda is a strong-willed, independent widow whose husband was killed by an outlaw's bullet. Zane is a tough Marshal, but his feelings for Jacinda keep him tenderhearted, always wanting to help Jacinda and hoping for their relationship to develop. He has feelings for her but wonders how she feels about him. Is she holding back due to fear? Finally when circumstances overrun her fear, lives are in danger, and evil invades the town, will Jacinda trust God and overcome? What sacrifices is Zane willing to make on Jacinda's behalf?
I enjoyed learning more about Jacinda and Zane. His "tough guy" appearance is knocked down when he's shot and needs help. I also enjoyed the sense of humor in their relationship. Reacquainting with some of the town folk from previous stories was nostalgic. A wonderful clean read. I strongly recommend this book and this series!

After a lot of delays, Sheriff Reagan and Charlotte are on their honeymoon to San Francisco.
No sooner has the train left, and Zane and Jacinda gotten to their wagon, than the outlaws are at it again.
With Doc out in the camps, Zoe had to find him for the medicine for her pa, and her delay sent Washington out to find her, and they, too, are confronted by the same outlaws.
Zane was badly wounded, leaving Dixie & Jacinda to take the bullet out of him, and knocking out another lawman.
Hostages taken and rescued, a new generation of deputies (at least temporarily), some romances, a bit of transient amnesia, a few best laid plans - and hastily concocted ones - created then not working out as planned, the locals learn more about trusting God, the potential of the next generation, and courage as Wyldhaven goes through another season of being the wyld west.

I really enjoyed this Historic Western Romance. It's the 4th book in the Wyldhaven Series. I won this as part of a set of this series and I have really enjoyed them. I've given it a 5* rating. As with the others, it pulls you right in and keeps tugging you along to see what's going to happen next. There is a lot of violence. Not really for the under 18 readers. There seems to be plenty of bad guys and good guys to keep stirring things up. This series is best if you start from the beginning, and read in order so you can keep up with what happens to who. And poor Doc, he's worked a lot, just taking care of those affected by what's going on. I'm ready for the next in the series if I can get my hands on it.

Jacinda and Zane

This fourth book in the Wyldhaven series is filled with action, outlaws, and injuries. When Reagan and Charlotte leave for their month-long wedding tour, the problems begin before Jacinda and Zane even return to town. Reading like a wild west story, several in the town were kidnapped or hurt by the group of outlaws linking back to the first book in the series. With Reagan away, Zane and Joe, long with help from Washington and Kin, must protect the people and capture the outlaws. Zane reminds Jacinda that worrying shows lack of trust in God, and hopes she will 'consider the lilies' and be open to love again. The best scene was when Zane tells her not to trust in God's protection, but to trust in God alone. A good reminder for us all.

"Do not be anxious about . . . what you should eat or what you should wear . . . consider the lilies . . .they neither toil nor spin, but . . . even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these." Luke 12:22 & 27. That is the scripture Zane told Jacinda to read and think about when she would worry about herself and others. Jacinda did learn to trust the LORD.

There was a lot of action -mostly due a gang of outlaws- and tension in this story, but there was light, clean romance envolving mature ( 40-ish) adults. There was a bit of budding romance of a couple of young adults also.

Consider the Lilies is book 4 in the Wyldhaven Series by Lynnette Bonner, but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone. I hightly recommend this book and rate it 4.5 stars.

DNF. I only got to chapter 8. I've enjoyed the stories of the previous Wyldhaven books and the colorful characters, but it drives me crazy how the author switches narrators. You'll be reading along from the perspective of the young man, and then suddenly we're with the young woman. She switches narrators with no warning. I get the allure - writing a scene from both character's perspectives can make it more immersive. But seriously - stop! At least put a few spaces between paragraphs to signal the reader that you're changing narrators. I dealt with it for the first three books, but with each one, it's bugged me more and more. Now I've hit my limit. I'm done with her books. Which is a shame because she has fun characters and potential.

I would have given this book a much higher rating if the ending hadn't been such a letdown. It was for me, anyway. Ever since the first book in this series, Jacinda Callahan has been described as a fearless, headstrong woman who is described as being a "crack shot"; even outlaws who had been familiar with her late husband Wade had been aware of her reputation with a gun. Then when she FINALLY gets the chance to prove how talented she is with a firearm, she doesn't even use it! Not once in the entire story! I had such high hopes that she would be the one to put a bullet in that horrible man Lightening Jim Roan. I must say though, I'm really looking forward to hearing more about Parson Clay, Kin and Washington Nolan. I LOVE all three of them!

amazing novel full of love, adventures, and faith

I love that this story is about second chance at love for those who 40+, who have seen life, known hardships, and still strife to trust God.
The major point here is how the FMC is struggling with trusting God again, trusting He loves her and desires good when death and difficulties are abundant in life. I love how we get to see the faithfulness and goodness of God as the story unfolds.
Besides, sweet and clean romance , multiple POVs (even villains’ ones!), adventure, and growth and maturity of familiar characters make it another great installment in the series. Read and be encouraged in your walk with Christ.

Easily one of my most favorite authors, especially Christian authors.

I loved this story and so glad it came to a good ending. This is the fourth book in this wonderful series and I can't wait to keep reading more and more. I have loved this author for a long time. She has other series that I read before this one and will keep reading all her books which I highly recommend them all to you. If you love good Christian western romances, get Lynnette Bonners books. You won't be disappointed with any of them.

Trust in yourself often fails until trust in the creator of the universe succees!

This story is laced with biblical truth and understanding. It strengthed the fabric of my own walk with the Savior and trust in His plans for my life. Brave hearts can be found in this story of a town that has its many stories of tragedy and triumph. Each soul must find it's own way with or without trust in truth and justice from someone over all of them. Trust in His plan must rise above our own to withstand whatever lies ahead.

Jacinda Callahan lost her sheriff husband years ago and has never really recovered. Into her life walks Marshal Zane Holloway. Right away, there's an attraction, but Jacinda just can't risk losing another loved one - and the loss is extremely possible. After all, he is a lawman. And there are some determined outlaws just outside town. Lots of action in this story. The 4th in Lynnette Bonner's Wyldhaven series. Loved it!

Consider The Lillies

This was. Great story. I sure didn’t want to stop reading it. Jacinda lost her husband who was the town sheriff. Along came a Marshall who, she admired very much. She as afraid to leapt her heart trust again. So much more to story. . Capturing the doc, shooting the Marshall, attempting to rob the gold train., just be ready for a great adventure and true love winning.

A great read

I’ve really enjoyed the first 4 books in this series and I’m looking forward to reading book 5. That’s saying a lot because I’m really not much of a reader. If I can’t get into a book into the first chapter (which isn’t very often), I don’t keep reading. Her story line is captivating and makes me want to keep reading. I read her first 3 books in this series in one week. Book 4 took me closer to a week because I’m not on vacation anymore. Definitely recommend!

Another excellent book by Lynnette Bonner. This Wyldhaven series continues to be full of God's Word and Love. Hard to put down because I just have to see what happens next. Looking forward to reading the Wyldhaven Christmas novellas and then more of Lynette's books. She's a new addition to my favorite authors list.

4☆ Exciting as all get out, with a huge heap o danger! Plenty of scripture and faith shared and a bit of romance too and certainly some tearful moments. Not every detail adds up right when you read the stories back to back, but the story overall held my interest.
Purchased from the author's website. All thoughts are mine alone without expectation or compensation.

Zane and Jacinto

Thank s is the fourth in the great series. Zane is a Federal Marshal and has strong feeling for the Sheriff’s mother, Jacinto. They have both lost their previous spouse and had many thoughts and hurts because of those losses. There is a gang of hardened criminals threatening their area, including the local law enforcement officers. You will enjoy their story.

I enjoyed the book! There is action in the book that gets very exciting the closer you get to the end of the book! This book is part of a series. It can be read standalone. However, I recommend reading the books in sequence because things happen in previous books that will make more sense if you read them in order. I highly recommend reading this book!

So enthralled

This story was so well written. The characters were so engaging that I didn't want to put it down so I end up reading them in 2-3 sittings. I am so thrilled that I discovered this writer.... I love the way she weaves scriptures into their every day struggles. Thanks to Lynnette for the escape into another time. Cheryl

oh my! What an amazing story!

I absolutely love the way Lynette Bonner brings her story together. I really like the way all the characters from the previous books have a part in each other’s stories. I am in love with every one of the characters. I’m going to miss them when the series ends! But, for now, I look forward to the next book in the series!

Wyldhaven Book 4

This was the first time I’ve read one of Lynnette Bonner’s books and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although there were two main characters, there were several families involved in the story line that kept me wanting to read more. I will definitely be reading more of her books. She’s very talented in weaving together all of the characters.
