Rate this book
Appointed his sister's handler, Luca's done nothing more than tread the fine line between dutiful son and loyal informant, but he's tired of being in a world where he doesn't belong, doing things he hates. Torture, blood lust, and power are the Cabralis' motto, but Luca wasn't made that way. The girl he loves, however, that's a different story.
Isabella may not be as twisted as Luca's sister, but she's smart, rich, and ruthless... Rebellious at heart, Isabella's wild spirit got her kicked out of boarding school. Forced to live with the father she despises and abide by his rules, Isabella is placed on house-arrest for her own safety. Years later, she decides marrying her father's right-hand man will ensure her freedom.
That is until she finds out everything was a lie. She was nothing more than a piece in her father's game. Now, she'll do anything to escape and find her way back to Luca, even if it means starting a war.

Six Deadly Steps is part of Escaping the Mafia, a six-book collection with an ongoing story woven throughout each book. This is a complete story with an HEA, which can be read as STANDALONE. For the full effect of the storyline, reading the whole series is recommended.

About the author

Sonya Jesus

USA Today & International Bestselling Author of Romantic Suspense, Thrillers, & Dark Romance books.

Don't be fooled by the positive, unicorn-loving, bubbly nerd. Sonya writes about dark hearts, soul-crushing moments, and the in-between of moral code. In books, she spares no one from the emotional rollercoaster and the gut-wrenching turns, but in real life, she's all about the bounce—about embracing the change, using the hard parts of life to spring back up, and not giving up when things get tough.

Sonya's a sucker for romance, practically inhales books in her free time like they're oxygen, and nurtures an addiction to criminal psychology. Yes, she watches True Crime as a hobby. Forever a student at heart, Sonya enjoys adding degrees, accolades, and certificates to her roster, and is affectionately referred to as Dr. Paige Turner by her peers.

Her family insists she's smart, but they must not see her lose her phone at least twice a week, try to open the front door with the car fob, or toot brain farts on the daily. Luckily, they also think she's funny. But that's just one of the reasons why she loves her big Portuguese family, rose-colored glasses and all.

I can never say anything bad when it comes to sonyas stories. This is the same again, when you read anything by Sonya she drags you in to the story without giving you chance to stop it.
This is Isabella and Luca's story.
Isabella grew up in the world of Mafia's her own father was the boss. She knew it wasn't a life she wanted to live in, especially when the rest of her family were brutally murdered. She was the sole survivor of an attack that was called by her own father. She was forced to live the life her father wanted for her, becoming the Mafia doll, Seen but not heard. Used to further the business to benefit her father. Yet she has a secret escape. Luca. The only boy she has ever loved. But he is from the family of a rival Mafia family. So they have to be separated.
Eventually Isabella puts her plan into place to finally leave the family forever, with the help of Luca and other people. Its got enough twists in this book to send your head in to a spin and have you heart racing with each page turn. I will forever love Sonyas writing style, even when she gets dark.
I cant wait for more.

I wish part of this book could have been a prequel...you would definitely be at an advantage.
This brings everything full circle and we get to see what led up to the need to escape. Overall I enjoyed this series.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if children of warring mafia families fell in love and wanted to leave that life behind? Welcome to the world created by Sonya Jesus, starring Isabella and Luca. Lies and deceit have been Isabella's steady diet, and the atrocities she's witnessed would break a lesser woman. Especially those that happen within her own family. The one thing her heavy-handed father didn't consider when he sequestered her from the outside world was how smart and driven his daughter is. Her mission: to pretend to prepare for a wedding to Daddy's right-hand man while plotting her escape from the world she's grown up in.
Ms Jesus does an excellent job weaving an intricate escape plot with a forbidden love story, building it all on the strong characters she's created. In her usual style, her storyline is fast-paced and well-developed and she gives cameos to some characters seen in her other mafia series. The story is heart wrenching when the poor young woman realizes the lies she's been fed and those who have paid the ultimate price for standing up to her father. Grab this book in the Escaping the Mafia collection and dive into the seamy underworld of the Mafia.

Sonya Jesus ended this series with a hell of a bang, and her heroine, Isabella, was my absolute FAVORITE heroine of the series, though the previous ones were extremely awesome! Isabella is the daughter of a sadistic mafia leader, which would break most women witnessing what she's witnessed, and yet, she's next level brilliant, and strong with a plan to escape the life. However, nothing is ever easy in this life, but her father never quite caught on that keeping her away from the world would make her even more diabolical. He's determined to see her marry his right-hand man, and she's pretending to do so, but when she learns of a betrayal which was so ugly, she's going to start a war to get back the man she loves, Luca, and God help everyone who gets in her way. Now, doesn't that sound so EPIC?! Seriously, it was, and I will be reading it again & again, as all the twists were crazy intense, and f-bomb dropping worthy! I can't stress how much I LOVED this story, and this whole series, so hit those one click buttons immediately to sit back & escape for days into an exciting world! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Wow, Sonya Jesus has done it once again. I was happy to fall into the pages of this story . This 2.0 version of Romeo and Juliet will blow your socks off .

In the Mafia , a son or daughter marry whoever their father tells them to. However Luca and Isabella have been planning for years so that they can be together .

Isabella wants out of that life completely, but Luca knows the chances of that are slim to none.

The things that Isabella's father puts her through will chill your blood , and you will be a cheerleader for all of the revenge moves she plans to make .

Such a brilliant read

What can I say, Sonya just has a knack for writing badass female characters! The entire book had me glued to the pages from the beginning to the end. There was just so much going on, and Sonya just pulled it all together with ease. There's no possible way you wouldn't enjoy Isabella's character, and everything she had to endure to be with the one she truly loved. It's simply a must read!

Six Deadly Steps, the final book in the Escaping the Mafia series was simply amazing. The conclusion to Isabella's story was penned beautifully. It tied up all the loose ends from the previous books. Filled with emotion, gritty suspense, intrigue and plenty of twists, I enjoyed reading this series.

Six Deadly Steps (Escaping The Mafia #6) is a contemporary mafia romance that will have you craving more of Isabella and Luca. It begins with prologue that gives you a morsel of their history. Suspense swirling through the pages leave you on edge. Heart-rending moments splashdown on the pages. I was intrigued from page one till the very end..I absolutely loved the ending and the epilogue hit the spot.

Absolutely loved this book. A nice size dose of revenge but with a twist. This pulls you in and will have you on the edge. It's a story that unfolds the events of life as a "doll" with dark hidden agendas and a tragic past that leads to a plan, a plan to escape.
