Again, I am weary of Miss Christy's books. So far I only love 1. Sparking Sara had a promising burb. The audiobook is 9 hours long. And majority of the story is focusing on the hero's POV. On his childhood, his friends, his job, his family, his past, etc. Not so much on the chemistry nor the romance.
Once Sara awake, it takes forever for their romance to blossom. I have to admit, I lost interest in the middle.
Samantha Christy brings the feels. Sara and Denver struggle to navigate in her new reality where they think they can't have what they really want. Both characters grow and change for the better in such a realistic way. So glad to see Denver finally have some good happen. He finally gets his HEA.
Getting lost in his kiss. Getting lost in his gray eyes. Past or Present. Feelings torn between two men. My fiancé or the man with the gray eyes that I see in my dreams.
Sparking Sara is an unforgettable journey between Sara Francis and Denver Andrews. An accident brings them together and together they heal. Making new memories while trying to remember the past. But the past may be to painful to remember. The struggle of moving forward. Being a better person. Going with your heart or with what everyone else is telling you.
Samantha Christy has once again written a book that brings characters to life with real life situations to the pages of her book. The research and time she spends on her characters is what makes her my most favorite author. I love reuniting with past characters and meeting new ones (Sara’s cousin). This book will forever be special to me😊
When you already love an author, you know her next book will be just as fantastic as all the others but one never expects that her next book would consume you even more….. I was so wrong….here it is… another “Master piece”
Denver was wrongly convicted of a crime and after he was finally found innocent, he struggles to find his place in the world. All he ever wanted to do was be a fire fighter but even that has its limits. His parents died in a horrific car accident and because of this, he tends to freeze up when he is faced with a horrific accident. How will he ever overcome his fears?
Denver’s company is called to an accident scene and he is trying to help a young woman who is badly injured. She is in and out of consciousness but all he can see is her eyes in a rear view mirror. Her hauntingly beautiful brown eyes.
Time quickly goes by and she is finally released from the confines of the mangled car and is rushed to the hospital.
He has to see her… he has to make sure she survived. It was touch and go and she may not make it but he needs to be with her. He later learns that she has no one coming to see her. She has a cousin and due to a rocky past, they don’t really communicate but at least she makes an appearance however cannot commit to being there for Sara every day. She has a boyfriend but he too is MIA. Against his family and friends protests, he forms a new routine. Work… Visit Sara….Go home, sleep…work, visit Sara…go home, sleep…. rinse and repeat. He does not realise it yet, but his visits is what gets Sara going.
As times goes by, Sara becomes aware of her surroundings but is confused….who are all these people? She somehow recognises one set of eyes but who is he and how does she know him? She tries to speak but she can’t…. Having a tube down ones throat cannot be comfortable. Frustrated she tries to grab the offending thing but a soothing voice is heard and it belongs to him. She is drawn to him… She trusts him. His eyes are so familiar and yet she doesn’t know him. Why is he here? As time goes on, she realises that having him by her side… reading, playing cards and telling stories, she feels safe… Is he her guardian angel?
I could carry on for hours and tell you how amazing this book is but leaving a detailed review will not do and it will spoil it for you! You HAVE to read this book.
Samantha has a way with words that will find its way into every part of your heart and soul. The stories come alive and you feel as if you are a part of the story itself. You and the characters become one…. This story will take your breath away from beginning to end. Its heart breaking because the pain is real….. The love is fierce… and the hope, is alive.
A second chance at life is not something that is often granted but when it happens, grab it with both hands. You never know when you may take your last breath. Love with everything you have….
Make memories as often as you can. Life is cruel at times but you can make a difference and live like there is no tomorrow.
Thank you Samantha for a phenomenal story.

Wowsers! What a completely unique story. Two lost souls just trying to find their way in the world. Both just as lost as the other. Denver is such a beautiful man. With a huge heart he only wants the best for everyone, even if he ends up empty handed. Sara is confused and scared of the unknown. The chemistry between them is there from the start but slowly gets stronger throughout the book. I adore their friendship above anything else, they bounce off each other and make each other whole. Once again Samantha has been extremely detailed and factual, so you can truly understand and see every detail. I love her words! This book has had me consumed from the start and has left me feeling all warm and fluffy inside! It was such a beautiful story. 5 massive stars!
This book is everything. I am so in love with Denver. He’s the perfect romance novel guy. Sara is such a fighter. Never giving up. Incredible story telling. Amazing chemistry. This is an absolute must read.
I received an ARC of this book and absolutely loved it. I was not expecting this storyline and it was amazing. Such a heartfelt read. I love how all of Samantha's characters are intertwined in all of her stories. Looking forward to Brett's adventure! 😊
BOOM...Yet again Samantha blows us out of the water with the second of the Men on Fire series.
Denver has had so much tragedy in his life, and for those of you that have already read Stealing Sawyer, you will be familiar with his past (If not you really should, don’t know what you’re missing 😏). Through that tragedy his heart is set on becoming a firefighter, however much his heart may be in it, his mind is another matter.
Sara, she has so many battles to overcome. Will Denver be the one to help or make matters worse?
No spoilers here! Reading it is the only way to find out.
Another Real Hard Love lesson from Samantha, nothing comes easy and this one truly doesn’t.
Pain, Heartache and Passion a recipe for a great book. ❤️🔥❤️
Sparking Sara is an absolutely amazing love story. This book has all the feels and grabs you at page one and doesn't let go! Romance, some action and suspense, absolutely wonderful characters, and a hero to die for ........make the perfect story. Denver and Sara met under the worst possible circumstances, but end up with the best possible outcome. These two are perfect together and I absolutely loved the ending. Once again, Samantha writes a perfect love story!
This is Denver and Sara's love story, while both characters on their own seem damaged, together they help each other fight through their issues, I would recommend this book and series to adults that love reading stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic.
I listened to this one on audible but it didn’t really work for me. The narrators did well enough but I didn’t like the setup. The first half is narrated by the female narrator and the second half by the guy. That meant the guy read many of the heroines lines and the female narrator many of the heroes lines. Don’t care for this. The vast number of audiobooks I get are duo narrative and this is something I always look for when buying an audio book.
The story itself wasn’t bad but not great. The hero, Denver, was a firefighter, an EMT who has a difficult time working vehicle accident calls. His parents both died in one, frozen to death while waiting for rescue so he has some PTSD. Many of his fellow firefighters are remarkably unsympathetic and give him a hard time, not wanting him on their crew. I don’t know the point of this plot line. I would think they would be more understanding. Whatever.
They are called to an accident where the female driver didn’t make it. The female passenger is trapped and seriously injured. Denver assists her from the backseat while waiting for to be released and they stare at each other from the rear view window. They form a connection.
Sara, our heroine, loses consciousness and when she regains it in the hospital, has no recollection of the past three years of her life. Even though rescuers aren’t supposed to keep in touch - in the story, I don’t know about real life, so another plot point I didn’t care for. But when Denver realizes that no one is coming to visit Sara, he spends most of his free time with her helping her learn about her last three years. And of course their connection becomes stronger but it turns out she has a fiancé, one she doesn’t remember at all. Another failing plot point for me is when she is released from hospital, she moves back in with said fiancé even though he’s a complete stranger and she has growing feelings for her and he for her. This is a conflict point I didn’t like at all.
Another random one that made no sense to me is before he became a firefighter, Denver was a cop in another city but something happened, though the author fails to tell us what it was, and he was arrested and ended up quitting his job, moving and became a firefighter. Don’t have a clue what that was about. Of course I didn’t quite finish listening to the book. I got to the point where I felt the story was resolved about 80%. And then it was like the obligatory sex scenes had to be added, but I didn’t see the point - yet again. Up until then there had only been a very few kisses shared between Denver and Sara. But then they both felt horribly guilty because of you know, fiancé who she didn’t remember and had no real feelings for that she was living with though he slept on the couch. No, just no.
It was like the author was making a 180 and I just wasn’t there for it. I’ve read some Samantha Christy books previously and enjoyed them but I wished I had given this one a pass.
OH my goodness! This story! I went into it not sure how I felt about Denver…. in the previous stories he is kinda blah. Kinda seems like a loser. (Harsh, I know.) But, I love him! I love him so much! He is all HEART!!! So much heart! Gives 100% of his love to those he cares about.
Denver saves Sara from the wreckage of a car. He feels a connection with her that he has never felt with anyone else. Such a strong connection that makes him want to stay with her while she is in a coma in the hospital. He wonders if he pities her or if he cares too much because it is similar to his parents death.... he just doesn't know. Then she wakes. He still feels that connection. Does she???? Too bad she has a boyfriend. Wait, that's wrong... she has a fiancé.
Another great book by Samantha! You have Denver, who is a firefighter and a girl he rescues, Sara. They seem to have this instant spark but as you will find out her life is complicated so it’s a bit of a slow burn to get to the good part. But the relationship they develop during this time is so sweet and Denver is a such a swoon worthy hero. And the end is everything you could hope for. Another winning book by Samantha Christy. Can’t wait for the next one!
I absolutely love Samantha Christy. I have read all of her books and love seeing familiar faces. Sparking Sara is a fantastic book in the Men on Fire series and has the trademark heart and soul that you come to get from Christy’s books. Slow burn and wonderful!
Heartfelt story that shows that the universe has a way with giving us exactly what we need when we need it. Love always manages to triumph darkness and helps navigate times that are trying.
Samantha delivers again with a sensational story Sparkling Sara! One of the things I love most about Samantha’s writing is you don’t know where the plot is leading, you just HAVE to keep turning the pages. And what you find in those pages...Oh My...Denver is not only my new book boyfriend, he is my book soulmate! With so much dedication, understanding, and unconditional love for Sara, Denver rescues her in EVERY sense of the word and in every way he can...”nothing short of miraculous”.
I love the way Samantha makes her characters so relatable. Denver is a new firefighter trying to work past losing his parents in a car accident a few years prior. He feels so drawn to Sara and I loved how Sara’s subconscious was drawn to him. It was so enjoyable seeing past characters making cameos in this book. It’s a slow burn but so worth the wait!
I have read everything that Samantha Christy has written, and one of the things that I love about her books is that there is always a unique element to her plots. Sparking Sara is no exception.
I have been waiting for Denver's story since he was first introduced in Igniting Ivy (well, really he was mentioned in Stealing Sawyer). He has done a great job of really trying to turn his life around after some awful things that he has gone through. I loved how protective he was of Sara, and how he helped her to move on and accept things.
While Sparking Sara is a standalone, I would recommend reading Igniting Ivy first. I love The Men on Fire series!
**This is book 2 of the Men on Fire Series… and as much as you could read this as a standalone title… I honestly encourage you to read at least book one (Igniting Ivy) and possibly even The Perfect Game series too because a lot of the characters from both series appear in this book too.
Now… if you are looking for a wham bam thank you Ma’am erotic romance novel… then you might be a little disappointed because this book is about a very, VERY slow burn love story.
But, I’d definitely still recommend that you read it because this story is so beautiful, thought-provoking and heartwarming that I couldn’t put it down.
Denver is truly one of the most amazingly gorgeous people you could ever wish to have in your life. He’s got that thoughtful, attentive and caring nature that just oozes from him. You just want to hug him and hold him forever. Absolutely adore him.
Aspiring artist, Sara is the victim of a terrible accident that leaves her with horrific head injuries. She’s lost the last three years of her life and it doesn’t look like those memories are going to return. Denver is the firefighter that saves her and when he finds out that she’s basically on her own in her life-changing ordeal - he goes against the code and stays with her through the process of healing. From holding her hand and talking to her throughout her coma to supporting her with therapy and regaining her strength… he’s there. Every step of the way.
They bond through their own personal losses and develop a very strong friendship. But both of them want more… more that they can’t allow themselves to have because unfortunately for Denver… Sara’s boyfriend, Oliver appears on the scene and being the gentleman that he is, Denver foregoes his own growing feelings for Sara to allow Sara and Oliver to rebuild their relationship.
As much as Sara tries to let Oliver back into her life, she can’t keep Denver out of her head. He knows her… understands her… he’s championed her through everything… unlike Oliver.
She soon realises that the person she was before is not the person she wants to be. Her accident may have taken her old life away… but the old Sara was not the nicest of people. Learning about how her life had spiralled into a lonely, superficial and materialistic existence makes her feel as though regaining those memories isn’t something she wants anymore. What she wants is the person she has started to become… what she wants is… Denver. But her loyalty to her fiancé, Oliver weighs heavy, even though she is struggling to have the same feelings for him as the man she is falling in love with. Oliver might be what she used to want, but she’s changed. She no longer wants that life.
But will Oliver be the fiancé she thought she was building a life with? There’s something not right about him… Denver knows it and everyone that has come forward to support Sara can see it too… but it’s going to take a revelation to make Sara realise that all is not as it seems.
Excellent book. Amazing story. The only reason I’ve given it four stars and not five is because I wanted more of Sara and Denver together. But maybe that’s what makes this book so great. It shows that perseverance and goodness will always shine through and love will always win.
Hoping to see more of these two in future series. Well done Samantha…another fabulous story.
In what's become my typical emotional reaction to a Samantha Christy story, this book reduced me to tears, battered my heart, and carefully mended me and soothed my wounded heart before leaving me all smiles. Gosh.....what a journey for Denver (Aspen aka Sawyer Mills wife from the Perfect game series is his twin sister) and our dear sweet warrior heroine, Sara. There was practically nothing left of my heart strings after these two were through with me. Pass the Kleenex pronto!!
"You keep saying you want what's best for her, he says. But did you ever stop to think that what's best for her is you?"
In this epic slow burn romantic tale, Denver and Sara feel an overwhelming spark towards one another, that is repeatedly placed on the back burner as Sara wrestles with herself and her circumstances. All the while, Denver is fighting an inner battle with a crippling fear raging war on him. Denver's life has not been an easy one, and he fears he may never fully recover. He cannot change events in his life, no matter how badly he may want to. What he can do, and feels called to do, is be there for Sara as she tries to reclaim the life she doesn't remember, and honestly, prefers not to the more she learns of herself.
Betrothed to another man, Sara must not allow her feelings about her Fireman in shining armor to dissuade her from putting her life back on track. She knows that most people in her situation would give anything to regain their memory and jump right back into the life they left behind in that accident. But Sara's heart is telling her that something doesn't feel right about doing that. More important to her, is listening to the voice telling her that Denver is her new home. Her safety net, her friend, and everything she never dared to hope for. How can she let go of him now?
Denver was an astonishing hero, in literally every sense. He sacrificed his wants, needs, and potentially his life in order to save Sara and numerous others. He was Sara's champion and always put her first...a woman he didn't even know. My goodness he epitomizes every girl's fantasy of the knight in shining armor come to life. The man is pure gold and I'll be the first to admit that I'm amazed at how Samantha redeemed him in my eyes. I just wasn't too sure that he was going to win me over, but boy...he knocked me over like I was a bowling pin! SWOON! In short...Denver is a REAL MAN! I'm talking not only talks the talk, but walks the walk y'all. Phew!
The road to the HEA Denver and Sara were both deserving of was not an easy one, it was a long and hard fight. Their story is raw, painful, but simply put...beautiful. If you enjoy emotional journeys, with a twist you won't see coming, you'll truly enjoy the adventure that Samantha Christy provided by sharing Denver and Sara with us. She can write heart-felt romances that just stay with you! I highly recommend!
PLUS, while this book can be read as a stand-alone, you get to visit with so many wonderful characters from her previous books (Ivy, Sebastian Briggs, Aspen, Kyle Stone, Baylor, Gavin, and Lexi to name a few) and I loved that!
I cannot wait to get my hands on Brett's book next! Oh the teasing SC did in this book. EEEK!
Denver and Sara’s story. This one was pretty good. It’s mostly the story of a man falling in love with a comatose woman. The story starts sort of where the last one ended where we find out Denver has become a fireman, despite his aversion to working motor vehicle accidents. He has trauma from when his parents died in a really bad car accident. Because of that, no fire station will really take him on as a full-time person and he ends up being a floater who fills in when people are absent. But even still, he has trouble with every car accident he comes across.
One particular car accident, however, is one that changes his life. This is one where he has to rescue a woman, Sara. Afterwards, he can’t get Sarah out of his mind, so he goes to the hospital to check on her. When he does, he finds out that she has very little people in her life. So he stays with her until her family and boyfriend can show up. Unfortunately Sara wasn’t the nicest of people, so no one ends up coming to the hospital with the exception of a cousin who can only make it sporadically. So Denver ends up spending a lot of time with her.
His family and friends are worried he’s becoming too attached to his rescue. But he can’t seem to stay away from her. When Sara wakes up, she seems to recognize Denver because of all the time he spent with her. But they find out she has amnesia and can’t remember her life. She can’t remember who she used to be. And the more she finds out about her old life, the more she realizes that that may be a good thing. Because she was not a good person. Unfortunately for Denver, the boyfriend finally shows up, and even though Sara can’t remember him, she tries to go back to the life she used to have. Too bad for her she seems to have fallen for Denver as much as Denver has fallen for her.
This was more a slow burn, relationship building story. Even though Denver and Sarah were not supposed to be together. But we get to watch them fall in love. Things do get physical and steamy later, but not until almost the end of the book. She has a long road of recovery and rehab to go through before they can get to that point. And then, of course, there’s the boyfriend. That situation gets wrapped up in an interesting plot twist that I did not entirely see coming. But I had suspicions about him so I wasn’t totally surprised. I did like this book a bit more than the first book in the series. And I appreciate how characters from the previous three series continue to pop up. It’s a huge world this author has created and I like seeing how it all ties together.
Have you ever read a book and things just come up that force you to put it down for some time?.. Yeah that happened to me with this one, BUT i was finally able to finish after having it wait for me in my KU for all this time. This period in no way had anything to do with the book not holding my attention because let me tell you... I devoured all of Samantha's other books in about 2 weeks. Life just happened you know..
This book definitely had me in my feels. I have loved Denver since 'Stealing Sawyer' (great book btw) and have been excited for his story for just as long. He hasn't had the easiest life especially when it comes to his adulthood. He finds himself moving to a huge city to try and start fresh, but he get so much more.
Sara is an artist who was involved in a horrific accident, but was given something so much more precious. She has her struggles to get through, but she was given a second chance at life.
These are two beautiful souls who are lost in the world and deny themselves in the beginning but find their way together in the end to create something so beautiful. The love and support that he shows her through her journey made my heart expand 3 sizes.. lol
I really want to talk about the book, but I am afraid to give anything away.. ugh! They have amazing chemistry from the beginning and in so many parts of the book I wanted to shove them together, but I am absolutely in love with their journey. I have to say I appreciate the Epilogue as well since it had me completely content and love them even more.
I am so excited to read about Lt. Brett Cash.. Literally counting down the days and locking myself in my room.
This was my first novel by Samantha Christy. I picked it up for the name (Sara spelled the right way!) and the firefighter on the cover. Hello! I wasn't really sure what to expect but for some reason I thought it would be steamier. However, I really liked the story and we got to watch Denver and Sara build up a strong bond before romance even entered the picture. The first half of the novel reads more like contemporary fiction than romance.
This can be read as a standalone except it is obvious that there are many cameos of couples from previous novels. I felt like the cross overs were a little gratuitous at times but readers probably appreciated revisiting with old characters. Denver is a great guy and I liked that he wasn't perfect in all arenas of his life. I would have liked to know more about his backstory and the author references him being arrested in the past but never divulges why. I am wondering if that is in the book about his sister Stealing Sawyer?
Sara and Denver meet during the harrowing rescue from a car accident. Sara suffers memory loss erasing the last 3 years of her life. Apparently she was a huge bitch during those years and has few friends to help her on her road to recovery. I don't totally buy that she went from being nice to super bitchy just because of her newfound fame. I would have liked some flashback scenes that maybe indicated her being bitchy but having inner turmoil about her behavior. It would have made her lack of friends more believable.
Towards the middle of the book we start to get a little angst at Denver and Sara's inability to be together despite their growing interest in each other. This was my favorite part. The glances, the sadness, and the trying to move on were well done. However, once they got together there was still about 20% left in the book and it sort of felt like an extended epilogue. Everything just kept getting wrapped up very neatly and it felt a little too sugary and dragged on. I did like this novel and look forward to reading something else by this author but this also wasn't a devour in one sitting kind of book either.
