Geostorm #2

The Pulse

Rate this book
Life on Earth hangs in the balance, and only a handful of people realize it.
Until the first Geostorm hits Europe.
As the poles shift, the planet's magnetic field weakens,
stripping away our protection from the Sun's power.
That which gives us life, can take it away as well.

"With his 40th novel, Bobby Akart turns the world upside down again!"

International bestselling author Bobby Akart delivers pulse-pounding thrills in The Geostorm Series , the story of a planet-changing phenomenon, a natural disaster brought about by the Earth itself.

"The Geostorm series comes out of the gate at full pace and action to let the reader know that this book will be filled with things that you can't unsee and leave you with that "look over your shoulder" feeling."

For eons, since the formation of our planet, Earth's magnetic poles have reversed. Powered by the machinations of her spinning iron core, coupled with the hot liquid that has churned around it since the planet's infancy, this geologic wonder has been occurring without much fanfare, until now.

A geomagnetic apocalypse is descending upon humanity. It's a catastrophic event caused by the Earth's magnetic field growing restless. And now, the changes are accelerating at an astonishing rate.

What happens when the magnetic field grows weaker? There will be deadly consequences for all of humanity. The change in the world's climate and the geological impact could alter the face of the planet as we know it. And the Sun, our beloved star that gives us life, can also wreak havoc, ending life on Earth as we know it.

"Polar shifts, GPS navigation issues, strange animal behaviors and even stranger weather, and scientists unwilling to move off the popular narrative all combined and masterfully crafted in Mr. Akart's engaging storytelling style."

The European continent has been besieged by a geomagnetic storm, one that ordinarily would cause minor disruptions in communications and GPS devices, but because of the weakened magnetic field, has destroyed power grids.

The world is playing a deadly game of Russian roulette with the Sun as the magnetic field weakens. Which part of our planet will be hit next? Follow the story of the Squire and Sarah Boone family, Indiana farmers and their children who battle Mother Nature, her animals, and their fellow man, in The Pulse.

"Wow, I didn't see this coming! The type of book an adrenaline junkie loves!"

Book #2 takes off like the proverbial rocket! As the shift begins, the effects and affects it has had on not only the Boone family, but it gives a strong sense as to what the rest of "us" will be experiencing. From Sarah and Carly at Walmart to Levi struggling to survive a plane crash in Canada, to Kristy in the Chicago Zoo. Some hard choices are being made and harder ones yet to come for all! The book rotates from one group of the characters to the next very smoothly and you don't feel for one second that you are losing your place or the flow of the stories. As with most of my reviews of Bobby's books, I'll ask the questions! With literal death surrounding him at times, how will Levi make it out of his own personal frozen hell ? Kristy and her co-worker(or is he?? hmm), with the animals losing control and having been set free by the whacko environmentalists, will they maintain some semblance of order before being forced to flee ? In a large urban jungle with altered wild animals running wild, can they get out safely ? For the Boone's who are home, so much to prepare for, worry about family, dealing with the ever present anxiety known as Bully Billy, will they be able to prep their homestead and be able to gather the family together to not only survive, but thrive ? I read this installment in one day and am very much looking forward to the next. Bobby Akart spins a masterful tale of action, end of the world theatre and characters that are so in-depth, you can't help but become attached.

INCREDIBLE, EXCITING, STORY

This is book 2 of the Geostorm Series and book 1 earned 5 stars and so has this book. Dynamic characters, well written, consistent plot, and very well researched with facts that are salted away to further whet the appetite of the reader.

A wonderful read that earns its 5 stars and then some !!!!

Riveting

I always say Bobby Smart books are quick reads, but I'm not sure that's right. I think he puts so many tremulous situations at the same time that I can't stop reading. It's not bad enough to have pole shifts and solar flares, but he's a genius at describing the people's reactions to it and the anarchy that ensues. It's terrifying and captivating at the same time. You really get to like some of the people in the story, so when bad things start to happen to them, you're scared for them. If you like apocalyptic stories, I'd definitely recommend this or any other of his series.

And it continues...

Like book one I couldn't put this one down. I plan to just buy the rest of the books as I can't wait to see what happens. After reading the first two installments I can tell you that these seem to have been written as one long story that was split into more manageable books. The end of each is an abrupt cliff hanger. While this might normally frustrate me, this story is so compelling I can't find fault with the author. Just get the entire set of novels. You're going to end up buying them anyway.

Another Riveting Story

Very few can write a story to keep you up all night like Bobby Akart can! The Geostorm series just keeps getting better 'n better! Love the characters and situations with the coming of the storms that I'm sure will change everything and everyone's lives. Something that could actually happen like so many of Akart's books. That's what makes them so addicting. On to the next book... Can't wait to see what happens! This is definitely a series you shouldnt miss!

What I liked about The Pulse especially was the characters are so real although the Clark bullies seem a little overdone. Guess we need bad guys to make the story interesting. I feel like things are just now getting more interesting. The first book had more scientific explanations than I wanted. Five stars as always for Akart.

Enjoyed reading the Pulse. I like how the story is going. Family members in other parts of the world and how they found out what is going on. Don't want to spoil it for anyone so I'm being very general.
Like that you included animals of all types. I will be reading the whole series. Great writing keeps your interest throughout the book.

Ugh

The first book was pretty good. Somehow, the characters lost about 100 IQ points each in the second book. I was only able to make it 3/4 of the way through before the stupidity, poor judgement, and choices became too much. With main characters this stupid, they deserve to die.

This second book in Akart's Geostorm series was intriguing. Following the adventures of various members of the Boone family as the Earth's magnetic fields weaken and America prepares for a coming Carrington style event is interesting and I've already purchased and begun reading book 3 in the series. The Boone's are an exceptional family and yes, they are descended from Daniel.

Actually a pretty good story. A little heavy on the science, but was well written and entertaining. I will read the next one because I am invested in the characters, but I know I'll skim over most of the science parts.

Great sequel

Not your usual post-apocalyptic story....With the family members spread across North America, the Boones must overcome obstacles and come together. Looking forward to the next instalment.

This series is so much more!

Much more than the typical EMP survival story; the science, the humor, the teasers at the end of some chapters create an extraordinary thriller! Most highly enjoyable and recommended.

Entertaining

The storyline is quite intriguing. The Boone family is scattered. Kirsti is in Chicago where trouble is brewing. Chapman and his new friend, Isabella are on the road to get home. Levi is in Canada fighting to survive.

Preparations

As the government learns more about the geostorm in Europe, they learn the US will probably be next. As the President & his advisors decide what to do, Squire Boone’s children face serious challenges. Will they make it home?

Number 2!

Rarely are sequel or series books as good as the first one in the story. The Pulse is definitely an exception! I enjoyed it tremendously, and am looking forward to the third!

Still great!

Loving this series. Really interesting premise. This could be a more realistic outcome than we imagine which makes it all the more unnerving but totally enthralling.
I highly recommend this series.
Thank you Mr Akart for another great read.

Excellent 2nd book in this series.

A Geostorm and earthquakes hit what will happen next? As the world becomes a frightening place how will the citizens react? Food, gas and electric will be commodities that will become scarce as people panic. How will the Boone family survive?

Great 2nd book in a series

This is a great continuation of the trials facing the Boone family as they deal with wobbling poles and thin magnetic fields. Time to go order the third book so I can see how Kristi makes it home.

So elaborate!

A world on fire, so many lives in so many places. So much we need to learn, fast.
Our great Mother Earth, and here we are arguing about the dummest stuff. Thank goodness for all our fine scientists, engineers, explores, etc. that
are capable of figuring this out!

This is a wonderfully written book. The possibility of a geostorm is intriguing. This is not a book, I would normally read. However I found myself totally consumed. I read the book in less than two days.
