THIRTY-TWO GOING ON SPINSTER

Julia Dorning is a spinster, or at least on the road to becoming one. She has no social life, hates her career, and lives in her parent's basement with her cat, Charlie.

With the arrival of Jared Moody, the new hire at work, Julia's mundane life is suddenly turned upside down. Her instant (and totally ridiculous) crush on the new guy causes Julia to finally make some long-overdue changes, in hopes to find a life that includes more than baking and hanging out with Charlie.

But when the biggest and most unexpected change comes, will the new and improved Julia be able to overcome it? Or will she go back to her spinster ways?

THIRTY-THREE GOING ON GIRLFRIEND

Julia Dorning thought she would die a lonely spinster. That was until nine months ago, when her world was turned upside down. Now she’s got a dream career as a bakery owner, and a relationship with handsome Jared Moody—a life she never thought possible.

Just as she’s starting to feel comfortable in her new life, Julia is invited to battle it out on national television making cupcakes. An amazing opportunity, if she can muster up the confidence to do it, that is. Then, out of the blue, Jared goes and throws a rather large wrench in their relationship causing Julia to have to make some big decisions. With her two trusted confidants off in wedding la la land, Julia is on her own to figure everything out.

Left to her own devices, will Julia be able to work things out for herself? Or will she make a disaster of it all?

THIRTY-TWO GOING ON BRIDE

Julia Dorning is about to lose it. Between her over-the-top wedding that her sister, Anna, took upon herself to create, and the under-staffed popular bakery that she runs, she can barely find time to breathe.

All Julia ever wanted was a quaint wedding on the beach with family and friends. But now Julia has to contend with not only her sister's plans, but those of her future mother-in-law, as well. Not wanting to step on anyone's toes, especially her mother-in-law's, Julia just goes along with it.

She can only take so much, though, and when her newest employee, Kate, makes things harder at the bakery, Julia has to find a way to simplify her life.

Can she do it or will she end up a basket case?

By day, Becky Monson is a mother to three young children, and a wife. By night, she escapes with reading books and writing. In her debut novel, Becky uses humor and true-life experiences to bring her characters to life. She loves all things chick-lit (movies, books, etc.), and wishes she had a British accent. She has recently given up Diet Coke for the fiftieth time and is hopeful this time will last... but it probably won't.

Three Books of Wonderful

Becky Monson writes another winner... no, three winners... with the Spinster Series, a collection of stories featuring and narrated by Julia Dorning. In the first book, 32 Going on Spinster, Julia lives in her parents' basement with a cat, has a boring job and no social life, and is convinced she's doomed to end up a spinster (she uses that term so frequently in the first book, it drove me crazy but not enough to dock it a star). She is resigned to her fate until a curve ball arrives at work: new HR hire Jared Moody. Clumsy and disaster-prone, Julia meets Jared while hiding under a table in a conference room. Things just get weirder from there, but by the end of 32 Going on Spinster, Julia and Jared seem to be on the road to a relationship... if the crazy events at work don't destroy everything they have planned...

The next book, 33 Going on Girlfriend, finds Julia as the owner of a bakery and the official girlfriend of Jared. Some things don't change, though, including her ability to bring awkwardness to any situation and snort-laugh at inappropriate times. Complicating the kind-of-happy-ever-after situation are two major events: the weddings of her best friend Brown and her baby sister Anna, and the filming of her participation in "Cupcake Battles" on the Dessert Network (5 channels up from Fox News, as she needs to explain to the clueless adults in her life). Each event comes with its own complications, some of which are Julia's doing, but everything works out in the end... both weddings take place; Brown and Anna and Julia have heart-to-heart discussions; and not even an almost disastrous confrontation with Jared can mar the happy ending this time! Which leads to...

The final part of the trilogy, 34 Going on Bride. It's Julia's turn to get married, and she's dodging the over-the-top plans control-freak Anna is making for her and Jared. The sisters' relationship is much stronger, but they have very different ideas for a perfect wedding. Julia, as always, dreads being the center of attention, which was, and continues to be, Anna's dream. So Julia goes along with the plans, getting more and more stressed, relying on caffeine and baked goods to carry her through the wedding day. Stress plus bad eating habits plus worry over Jared's plans to open a second bakery location equals a health crisis waiting to happen... and happen it does, in public per her track record.

In the hospital, exhausted and hopped up on painkillers, Julia convinces Jared to elope... a real slope ment, not one they tell their friends and family about. This leads them to Vail ihe middle of a pot festival. The wedding that follows goes into the realm of the bizarre: a high officiant, two hippie witnesses, and a self-appointed maid of honor who identifies as a witch. Naturally, Julia didn't check the calendar for events in Vail, so it serves her right. (This isn't a spoiler because if writes

3 books Thirty two going on spinster, Thirty three going on girlfriend, Thirty three going on bride are the books that make The Spinster Series by Becky Monson.

Julia lives in her parents basement because she needs to save in order to buy something of her own. This is what she has been telling herself for the past 10 years. Reality is, Julia hates change.
But now that she is thirty two, she is beginning to think that she is officially a spinster. No social life, no motivations, a job she hates, siblings she doesn't really talk to, no love life. At least she has a cat. See? Spinster !

That is until Jared starts working in the same company she is working at, getting the job Julia had applied to.
Now Julia really has nothing to look forward to. She will be a spinster and have only cats as company. Stuck in an endless job.

I loved this series. Julia is someone that needs to be forced into making changes in her life. So of course, life forces her.

What a Read!!!!

I read all 3 books in the Spinster Series, one after the other. They were a great read and the heroine almost drove me crazy. Did you ever have anyone tell you that YOU WERE YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY? Well Julia was but the story was great. Thank you Becky Monson. I’m going to definitely read more of your books!!!

Absolutely loved this series!

The character of Julia was so relatable in many ways. And you could just picture Jarad as the kind but very hot guy. Write more stories like this Becky!

Good read enjoy while you relax in the bath

Good read while you relax in the bath, read all 3 don’t read something else between the story flows and not much overlap like other writers who have to tell you the back story as if you have not read the other books

Thirty-Two Going on Spinster: (I first read this back in 2015 when it was first published. I knew then that this was an author I would want to read again. She since published several more works and I’ve loved them all.) This was a new author for me. I found her through another favourite author who recommended her. I loved this story. I love her writing style, so casual and easy, like a friend talking directly to her audience. I enjoyed the humour, too. I laughed out loud several times. I may have even snorted a little. I'm definitely going to download the next book in the series and I highly recommend this one. It was so much fun. Clean and romantic. Perfect!
Thirty-Three Going in Girlfriend: So, this was the sequel to Julia and Jared's story. I loved it. Lots of humour, great characters, well-developed plot... I found myself completely enthralled in the storyline. When Julia was going through the cupcake reality show and the tension was mounting, I found myself reading quickly and tensing up, as though I was a part of it all. I literally laughed out loud so many times! I'm sure my family thought I was nuts! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and, much like the first one, I highly recommend it. It's romantic, clean, funny, light and easy reading. A pure delight!
Thirty-Four Going on Bride: Warning: do not attempt to drink coffee (or any other beverage, for that matter) while reading this! If you do, you are guaranteed to end up wearing it! Or snorting it following a laughing fit!

Becky Monson did it again! In this latest instalment of her wonderful, funny series, Julia is preparing for her wedding with Jared. She's got the pre-wedding jitters and she's trying to get everything done before the big day, and run her bakery at the same time. Hilarity ensues! If you enjoyed Thirty-Two Going On Spinster, Thirty-Three Going On Girlfriend, and Speak Now: or Forever Hold Your Peace, you will love this one too! If you haven't read them yet, what the heck are you waiting for?!

I love, love, love this author's writing style. After a stressful or exhausting day there's nothing better than sitting down to one of her books, kicking back and indulging in one of Becky Monson's stories. It's like having a conversation with a good friend. The narration is so smooth and easy, it seems to roll right off the tongue. And it's fun!! And romantic. And clean. What's not to love??

I give this book a 5 star rating and my highest recommendation.
