One Hell of an Actor

Rate this book
WHO WAS J.J. TUMULTY?

Was he one of America's greatest actors, a man of heroic stature, or a fraud, a heartless womanizer, and one of our most amazing charlatans?

The answer may be found in Old New York of New Hollywood, in Paris or Scotland or Barnstorm America... With senile doormen, wistful ex-mistresses, actors' home inmates, bastard sons and bitchy ladies...With the help of Spencer Tracy, Stanley Kramer, Thornton Wilder, Ruth Gordon, Enrico Caruso, Ethel Barrymore, Cecil Beaton, and Katherine Hepburn.

I can't believe this book isn't better known, at least among theatrical folk. It's charming!

Another author I'd give much to have beers with, but probably won't read another of his works; I just didn't care that much about the protagonist's quest.
