The Mentor: a love story

Rate this book
A socially awkward, technical genius. A married mentor. A story of a love triangle. A story of a metamorphosis.

Saasha works in an IT company, EdTech. She is extremely intelligent, hardworking and brilliant at problem-solving. However, despite her technical brilliance, she is a loner. Social interactions have never been easy for her and she struggles to get along with the team. In fact, with everyone.

Aditya joins Saasha’s company as the head of the IT division. He is handsome, sharp, ethical and focused. He proves to be a top-notch people leader. He notices Saasha and decides to take her under his wings. Though Saasha resists Aditya’s attempt to help her initially, she gradually accepts her own inability to resist him for long. Aditya guides and mentors her. Saasha finds herself changing under his mentorship. And Saasha finds herself falling madly in love with Aditya.

There is just one problem. Aditya is already married. What happens when Saasha enters Aditya’s life? Does Aditya start to reciprocate Saasha’s feelings? Do the complete opposites attract?

Having read the author’s previous two books, I was looking forward to this one. And I must say that she has not let me down. Though the name is The Mentor: A love story, it is not the romantic love story between the main protagonists. The characters are realistic and relatable. The story is simple and talks about a mature relationship between a mentor and his mentee. Aditya is mature and handles Saasha accordingly. I loved the relationship between Aditya and his family, especially the understanding between him and his wife, Dyuti.
Looking forward to more books by the author.

I would NOT have picked this book if I had looked at in amazon. I picked it up only because of a good review in goodreads from trusted people. The plot could easily have made the story a dirty, erotic one; But the author handled it so effectively and made it a nice safe-for-work book. I really loved the last few pages and the way the story is ended. I liked the messages that the author conveyed, more than the life of the characters in the story. Got a bit reminded of the movie Vicky, Christina and Barcelona by Woody Allen. Only problem with the characters were that they felt a bit elitist and superficial in their lifestye. But the book is fully worth reading and buying.

One of the best read

Have read all books by the author but this one is my favorite. The plot is so heart touching that I just fell in love with it. Aditya and dyuti are madly in love couple with happy little family. Saasha is just weird lot but have her own reasons to be one. But Aditya is the most loved, humble, understanding and loved by all guy. I am in love with this character.
The twist took my heart away. But the story gave me so much learn about real love, trust, pure innocent feelings and unbreakable relationship.
Definitely one should read it. Highly recommended 👌👍

I read this many weeks back and still I can remember so much from the book.

There are few authors who can keep the writing simple and easy reading, and yet manage to convey such depth of perception into human minds and emotions. I love the way Shobana has portrayed the inter relationships of the people in the book. The mind voices are realistic, humorous, contemporary and philosophical without being preachy.

The mentee's love is beautifully conveyed - neither platonic nor romantic - a feeling without label but wonderfully portrayed by this story. A brave attempt and refreshing take on this relationship, loved the journey.

Finished binge reading all 3 books by Shobana and quite frankly this was such a let down. The PoC (proof of concept) of the book was based on unrequited love but barring the last 5 pages, the writing felt like a lost puppy as did the characters. The last 5 pages were a sure page turner but this does not qualify spending 3 hours of reading for 5 mins of a good read. My fav is still her debut novel "40 Feet off the ground". I guess the charm and freshness of debut work still holds true! Looking forward to more exciting stories by Shobana with consistency in storytelling and strong characterization.

Great effort by the author to bring out the essence of IT company culture. I can very well relate to the current scenario which we are seeing through our work environment. Kudos to the author for her well portrayed scene and the outcome of the book is awesome. An extra book to add upon to my library. I am feeling very happy to read upon and to see the efforts by the author to make ourselves happy throughout reading the book. Looking forward for the next release of her book and all the best for it. CONGRATULATIONS for the excellent job:-)

It's a wonderful read with a very appropriate title. Author takes us on life journey of Saasha, a rude recluse and Aditya who is her boss.
Aditya's entry in Saasha's office changes her life.
Conversations between Aditya and his wife Dyuti are thought provoking and deep. Dyuti's take on Aditya's fondness for Saasha is refreshing. I really liked how internal/mind dialogues of characters takes the story forward.
