Shy~
I enjoyed this story so much. Like, had a smile on my face so often and absolutely loved the characters kind of enjoyed.
Styx was this amazing, rough, protective and possessive guy. And he was funny and clearly so good where it really counts that as often happens with a Stacy Gail book, by the end of the story I was head over heels right along with Sydney.
Sydney was another gem. She was so kind. She was the kind of person that even I wanted to protect and shield from harm so I knew why Styx wanted to. You just understood why everyone was drawn to her.
I loved the suspense and all the twists and turns in this book. It was not only well written but held my attention so well I finished it in a day.
The more I read in this series, the more I love it. This book, along with all the others I would definitely recommend.

Sydney once hoped she would be a full time ballerina but those dreams were put on the back burner when it was drummed into her at a young age that unless you are shooting for the top, you may as not not aim at all.
Sydney literally comes barreling into Styx’s life while escaping a near death car chase on the freeway. After slamming into his chest trying to hide in a nearby building she is shocked to discover he is the guy she has been crushing on for ages. He is ’grocery store guy’ who comes into the store she works at twice a week to buy frozen pizza and he is freaking gorgeous.
‘You are every female’s version of eye-candy, with your awesome shoulders, and your sleeved-out arms, and your gorgeous eyes. I told Zemi about you because it’s written in the official woman bylaws to share sightings of seriously hot men out in the wild.’
Styx is the oldest child in his family but the last sibling to settle down and get married. He feels the weight of disappointment from his mother all the time but he has never been interested in that sort of life. Until a gorgeous wee ballerina girl pirouettes into his world and tips everything off kilter. The fact that she is shaking and running for her life immediately puts him on high alert but the need to protect her takes him by surprise.
Sydney cannot believe that the man of her fantasies now seems hell bent on keeping her safe. Up close, she is able to appreciate just how handsome he is and his beautiful tattoos are spellbinding. She wants to discover all of them, in fact she pretty much wants to get naked and rub herself all over him.

There is something about Syd that has Styx completely rethinking his future and he knows that he wants her to be his. This may have started out as an agreement between them but it very quickly morphed into something very real. It’s like she was created just for him and he has completely fallen.
‘I’ve been lost in you from the moment you helped me gather up my mail. You looked up at me and I forgot how to breathe.’
As well as an emerging love story there is also an element of suspense as they try to figure out exactly who was after Sydney and why. Styx will not be able to relax until the baddies are behind bars and his girl is safe. It’s been a while since I enjoyed a good alpha male read and this series always delivers up on that front. Another great addition to the House of Payne series.

When Sydney runs into a stranger's building looking for help, she is absolutely shocked to find that stranger is the same tattooed god she's been drooling over at the grocery store where she's a secret shopper. Styx can't believe his eyes when a "fun size" woman crashes into his life looking for some help to protect her from someone intent on running her down.
A little bit (a lot) of insta-love, a fake relationship turned real, a family of cops, a family of tattoo artists, some action, and lots of passion all combine together to make for an insanely readable story of an alpha brought to his knees by the sweetest fun sized woman ever.
I am in love with this installment of House of Payne. I've read one other story in this series, Ice, but I gotta say that Styx has got it beat, hands down. Styx and Sydney are the cutest couple I've read in a long time. Their insta-love was quick to be sure, but also felt natural and gave me lots of moments of swooning and falling in love with these two. Can't wait for more House of Payne!

I continue to have mad love for these passionate, outspoken tattooists and those they fall for. Styx continues the streak of fiercely driven, crazy protective individuals who will stop at nothing to keep their special someone safe.
Sydney doesn't even realize she needs someone like Styx in her life until he bulldozes into it (via her bulldozing into him) and plants himself firmly in her path. By that, I mean, he makes sure he gets a chance for them to get to know one another to see if that zing he's feeling is mutual.
AND, BOY, IS IT MUTUAL!
On Sydney's end, when she bumps into Styx, she's had a weird, harrowing day and he's just the cherry on top. He helps her in a huge way and suddenly they're being all couple-y without Sydney being quite aware how it happened. They they get REALLY couple-y and the lady's a goner. Plus, his family welcomes her with open arms and, considering the shambles of her family life, it just draws her in deeper and shows her what an actual family unit looks like.
I loved loved loved seeing a few familiar faces (and a few unexpected ones) and watching two people who seem so very different find that they have a whole lot of common ground when they take the time to get to know one another. The House of Payne crew are one big, crazy family and I can't get enough of them.

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to keep interested in the story. Read it in one sitting. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, steam, and deep heartbreak.

Sydney has seen Styx at the grocery store before and thinks he's scrumptillious. She's shy and won't say hi to him. Then when she needs him, she literally runs right into him. Styx takes one look at her and he's hooked.
I absolutely love Styx!!! He's alpha, will do anything for Sydney and has the absolutely best family! I love the way these Styx and Sidney are together. So maybe it started out one way but definitely ends in another. Styx is definitely what Sidney needs, especially to show her what she thought about herself was wrong. (Her parents UGH!!! Just how can they be like that??) You'll have to read it, to find out what I'm talking about!.
Loved the suspense and the heat to this book! I loved taking the journey with this two and what a great addition to the House of Payne! I LOVE this series!!! I SOOOO can't wait for Loki's book!

I am new to the author and this series, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I absolutely loved Styx and Sydney. Their story is told in third person POV (which isn’t my fav) but I was still able to love this story! I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series, and I didn’t feel lost. It can be read as a stand-alone.
Sydney is such a sweetheart. Her life is in danger, and she is more worried about everyone else. I loved Styx from the moment Sydney crashed into him. He doesn’t take NO for an answer when it comes to protecting Syd. One look in her eyes and he’s a goner.
The plot is very fast paced. Watching these two grow is an experience. I enjoyed this one so much, I read it a day.

Styx is a tattoo artist at the House of Payne and dreading the upcoming wedding of his twin brother. His family is after him because he's the only single one left. Sydney is a secret shopper and catches thieves. She's so good at her job she ends up with someone trying to kill her. She is having a crazy day when she bumps into Styx. The two have an instant attraction. Styx helps her out and in return she agrees to be his fake girlfriend for his brother's wedding. Turns out Styx ends up wanting more than pretend as does Sydney. Another awesome read in this series.

I absolutely love the House of Payne series and every alpha male that the story is about is swoon-worthy. This story is a definite page-turner and I was glued to my kindle from the beginning. With each book I say “that is my favorite couple” and I am saying it again- Sydney and Styx are dynamite together. She is a little firecrackers and he is the sexy tattooist that comes to her rescue. I love how protective Styx is of Sydney. I can’t wait for more from this highly talented author!!

I absolutely adored Sydney. Styx was cool and a great alpha, but Sydney really made this story shine. Usually, this many books into a series, the stories start getting meh, but not here! I swear they get better with each one. Seriously looking forward to Loki... and hoping to get all of Rude's co workers too at some point :) oh yeah.... neat cameo by Polo!

Styx is absolutely my favorite House of Payne story to date, and I always use to date because when you read amazing authors for any length of time, the next book always ends up taking the former favorites place. Sydney has wanted to be a ballerina for as long as she could remember, but sometimes life has other plans, and now she's got a different career chasing petty thieves. She is very jaded at this point, and has an attitude of why bother, since dreams are pointless in her eyes these days. And since she lives by that for real, she didn't bother talking to the hottest guy she's ever seen, but fate is always there in the background, waiting to take over, and it's going to go against Sydney's stubborn, jaded a**. Styx Hardwick hates plans, which makes him the black sheep in his family of cops, since he chose to become a tattoo artist instead. This makes going to his last single brother's wedding surrounded by his family, a nightmare. Luckily for him, fate is standing by, when Sydney literally runs into him with terror filled eyes, and his world is altered forever. He makes a deal with her, go to the wedding as his pretend girlfriend, and he'll keep her safe, so a win win for both! It doesn't hurt that they have amazing chemistry which is so intense, it won't be denied for long. And since these two people are perfect for each other, & fate having their backs, it's not long before feelings are being caught. This is an amazing story that kept me gripped in its pages cover to cover, and when I was finished, I wanted to turn around & read it again. And I can't forget the twists, and those twists are enough to get me to drop LOUD f-bombs, which is truly what I love in my books. Now, I'm going to encourage everyone to one click this bad boy, as I promise you want to know how it all pans out. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Another terrific House of Payne story with an excellent hero in the hottie Styx! He's so yummy! A sexy tattoo artist with major skills and a body to die for along with the wonderful Hardwick family of cops and a mother anyone would want. His protective streak is full on when "Fun Size" literally runs into him while running for her life. The beautiful tiny dancer Sydney is a major overachiever with a horrible family and other than her penance for over apologizing and putting herself down she's a sweetie that's cute as a bug. So the question is who wants to off her? Good thing the awesome Hardwick family is on the job and the hunky Styx is making it his mission to keep her safe, in exchange for acting as his girlfriend until after his brother's wedding. You know what they say about the best laid plans...well things go from playtime to real with this hot couple. The author has given us a story full of romance, danger, action, steam and sizzle with a couple in Styx and Syd that are to perfect. The writing is dynamic and wonderfully detailed with a great cast of supporting characters including Syd's Zen friend Zemi and Styx's twin Trey. Absolutely fantastic! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Their romance started when Sydney watched Styx from afar, and ended with them being the most important person in each others’ lives. Along the way they faced threats, real life someone is trying to get me threats, meddling family, interfering co-workers, and protective former mob hitmen. But that is the norm for Sydney, where her own family has never shown her her worth, everyone who meets her sees how utterly amazing and multi-faceted she is to be around. Styx didn’t stand a chance, and he didn’t even try to resist her. Convincing her, that took a bit more time, but he knew it would be worth it in the end

Stacy Gail has done it again!! I have loved all the books in her House of Payne series but I have to say I think Styx is my favorite one so far!!
Styx can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading this amazing series in order as there is backstory throughout the books!!

Another great read in the House of Payne series. I just can't get enough of these alphas with a heart! Sydney is larger than life and despite her small size -- she's ferocious. But her latest run-in with trouble has landed her smack in the middle of Styx's sights. And oh boy does he ever come to her rescue. Styx insists on protecting her and their fake relationship becomes real in a matter of minutes. He's so swoony and I love the way he just bulldozed his way into her life. Sydney has no trouble holding her own and I loved their banter. The inclusion of other House of Payne characters always makes me smile. And Polo was there, too! Yummy.
If you haven't picked up this series, do it now. Every book is a winner and you'll find yourself with a whole new batch of book boyfriends!

If you haven't started this phenomenal series by Stacy Gail yet then you need to RUN to start it!
Styx is brass, funny, strong, amazing, and HOT! Sydney is vulnerable, cute, and amazingly strong even when she doesn't believe it. This story sucked me in and made me adore these two characters from the start. Suspense, heat, and lots of humor and love. All ingredients that make me adore this author's writing. I was able to catch up with previous characters that I adored and now I am itching for the next story is this fantastic series! A must read!

LOVE STYX!!!
Every time I read a new book in the House of Payne series I tell myself "This guy is perfect and I dont know if Stacy will be able to top this with her next tatted hunk" ...then she releases a new book and I am BLOWN. AWAY. Seriously I wish this crew were real and I would move in a heartbeat to be near them. Styx's words have me in a melty gooey puddle of swoon and Syd is a pint sized firecracker waiting to explode. I wish I could give this book and the whole series more than five stars, because Stacy has created absolute tattooed perfection!!

AWAY. Seriously I wish this crew were real and I would move in a heartbeat to be near them. Styx's words have me in a melty gooey puddle of swoon and Syd is a pint sized firecracker waiting to explode. I wish I could give this book and the whole series more than five stars, because Stacy has created absolute tattooed perfection!!

Gotta love love!
Styx and Sydney met under strange circumstances when she was rammed from behind on the freeway and in a move worthy of a Hollywood stuntman, she saved herself. She was being hunted though and ran into the lobby and smacked into the chest of Styx! This began a whirlwind relationship and a ride neither saw coming!
I love the crazy storyline this author has given us once again and look forward to the next.

I couldn't put it down!! It was absolutely amazing! It was very hot and sexy. I was hooked on Styx and Sydney. I love Styx and how alpha he is and how protective he is of Sydney. I love that he would not ever hesitate to put himself in danger in order to keep her safe. I love the rest of the Hardwick family, they are hilarious. I love this book and love this author.

Sydney is a little firecracker, and when she is in danger, sexy tattooist Styx comes to her rescue, and is determined to protect her. This is a beautifully written story which is humorous, steamy, and with suspense and witty banter, which had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all.

Styx is right beside Lyon and Talon for favorite book boyfriends !! I also put Syd by Kat and Skye for favorite females ! I didn't want this story to end ! The supporting characters are awesome as well and I can't wait for their stories . Loki is gonna be fun I hope , he needs it !! I'm so glad I bought this book .

Each book in this series is unique, each story singular, some will crack you open and rip out your heart, others will leave you sighing in enjoyment or grabbing the edge of your seat, this one is joy, there’s excitement and danger but threaded through it like a ribbon of light is pure joy. I think the happy grin on my face was there through most of this book and the end was just happy bliss. I think much as I love every book, this one is my favourite because it truly is a feel good book.

WOW!! Like all the men and women from House of Payne, they are flawed, strong, determined and beautiful! There is everything in a Stacy Gail book you could want. Action, adventure, laughter, tears, anger, happiness and wild romance. Love this series as i love all her books and stories. I highly recommend this series!!!

Fun Size. Gahhhh!! I freaking LOVED this book!!! Styx...be still my heart :-) Such an amazing character and the total package we all swoon over. 100% alpha with a heart of gold. What was supposed to be "pretend", turned out to be insta love and I insta loved it from the get go. The immediate connection these 2 strangers had was off the charts perfection. Styx grew up with loving parents and siblings. Syd grew up with demanding parents who failed to get the memo on how to treat their own flesh and blood. Syd powered through the pain of not having the family love she craved, and made herself into a strong, self sufficient woman. Styx knew the minute the little terrified spitfire of a woman clinging to him as if her life depended on it, was the one woman that would bring him to his knees. Sydney never imagined that the man who starred in all of her fantasies, the one she watched from behind the grocery store shelves, her knight in shining ink, would be the one to save her from a fate neither of them could have ever dreamed of. Watching this couple grow and fall deeper in love was exactly what I was looking for when I stepped back into the House of Payne series. This series is full of alpha males, strong females, humor, danger, and so much love that you feel like you really need to be there in the shop watching it all unfold.

Sydney is a secret shopper for a chain of grocery stores in town. Their meet cute is totally crazy!! Hint it has to do with her job, but they don’t meet in a store. I can’t get over the way they meet, it’s totally unique and crazy!
Sydney is so good at catching shop lifters at her job as a secret shopper, that someone is trying to KILL HER and she runs into Styx literally to hide. See totally crazy!!
What unfolds is a crazy story of a “pretend” couple, a family of cops, and near death misses. The only thing that I didn’t like is that we never get to see Styx let Sydney’s crappy family have it.
Crap!! I almost forgot to tell you about the most amazing scene, a scene straight out of my daydreams with my favorite HoP artist Max and favorite ex hit an for the Bratva Polo!!! This whole dang book is full of drool worthy moments so make sure you have a towel ready, LOL!!! Stacy Gail makes sure that there is lots of hotness, love, and funny in this series and that is why it’s one of my favorites.
