I loved this book just as much as the first! I love entering this visionary literary world! I love Wren as a FMC she’s still tough, strong and resilient and takes no rubbish of anyone! I loved watching her relationship grow with her men. In this book we learn more about Wrens mother. This book had loads of characters development which was brilliant and the plot and storyline was flawless. The only thing was the changing POVs which I have to say is more my issue than the book!! This book is filled with romance, suspense and intrigue I really can’t wait for the next!

I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned!

I love this series. It's enough of a slow burn to love the characters, even when they are being assholes. So much happens, and it's all revenge, steam, and justice!

I liked EMERGENCE but DEFIANCE is my new favorite. While it is still a fast-paced action-packed novel, we get a deeper view of Wren’s character in this book. We know from the previous book that she has been on her own since age 8 and on-the-run with her mother before that. However, in this installment, we see Wren struggle with how much her mother never taught her because they were trying to survive. The reader’s heart-strings are tugged when we learn that Wren doesn’t know her last name, any stories of her father or about the other members of her mother’s harem. These details also fill in more of the magical tattoos that link the characters together, making it much more plausible for the reader.
I’m still convinced that Ashe is the best guy in the harem even though Charles is a needed foil to lighten him up. Readers looking for a modern jokester on the edge of cinnamon roll sweetness will love Charles. I just prefer the deep thinker, Ashe, who has a subplot of his own as he navigates going from lover to harem member. Charles’s connection to the Wren’s mother provides a seamless backstory that keeps the reader engaged while informing them. Sneaky, masterful plotting! I feel I know the characters without having to sit through passages of narration. Overall, an excellent sequel and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Next!
The book packed in even more action then the first with no signs of it slowing down. There was good character growth, especially with Wren and Charles. Looking forward to hopefully learning more about Zac. Bring on number 3 📚

Wren is awesome
I just love Charles don't call me Charlie. His sarcasm and playboy attitude are awesome. I really like this second book. Wren is still an awesome character. I'm not entirely sure why she had to imitate Vivian though. It seemed a bit contrived. But I'm still loving this series and I can't wait to learn more about Marlowe in the next book.

Since the first book in this series, Emergence, set up the characters and scenes to move forward, the story is really starting to pick up. They are busy, busy trying to thwart the obstacles the evil Queen is throwing down. Lots more action with some unique improvisation in their battles and there is more development in the second mate, Charles. It’s quite a turnaround from his smug obnoxious self into a sincerely caring protective knight like his father. Starting to like him more! This is not my usual genre, but I am really getting into this series and enjoying the reading. I believe it falls into the New Adult PNR category. The only thing that bugs me is the changing POV’s. They are notated at the beginning of the chapter, but as I am reading, I lose track of the player. More my problem than the author’s. The next episode has the third major player that looks like he is going to buck the flow. Something interesting to look forward to in a few weeks.

Defiance, book 2 of the Sever the Crown series, picks up where book 1 left off and keeps on rolling! It's even more action packed than Emergence - book 1. Wren and Ashe are thrown head first into a partnership that now includes Charles as a second mate. Charles, Ashe and Zac must learn to work together to keep Wren safe despite multiple attempts on her life. Ashe and Charles must work through their jealousy issues quickly if they are ever going to embrace life in a harem of five. Enter Marlowe, mate number three, and tenions really ratchet up. Except, unlike Ashe and Charles, Marlowe doesn't believe Wren stands a chance at winning the crown, nor does she deserve to wear it. But he is sworn to protect her, so he will do what he must to keep Wren and her entourage safe.
The storyline is fast-paced, filled with danger, intrigue, twists and turns and hot sex. The characters are well-developed and easy to relate to. I can't wait to see what book 3 brings!

I really suck at reviews because I don't want to give away spoilers. I sent my initial response to Mysti through a private message, so for this, I am going to do my best to pretty much repeat that review sans spoilers! :)
OH. MY. WREN! I love how while Ashe is still important to the story, the chapters read from Wren and Charles's points of view. This really shows how they bonded and felt for each other throughout the book. This is a great way to let your readers really get to know Wren, but just as importantly, her mates! Very crafty!!
Sheesh, writing a review without giving away anything is difficult! How about I just say this... READ THIS SERIES! The writing is great, the story line is captivating, Wren is my spirit vampire (lol sorry not sorry), and the way the men all are becoming a little...family for lack of a better word is hysterical! The second book in the series brings more tension and mysteries into the whole story, as well as more opportunities to get to know new characters - like Charles, whom we already met in book one, but his entrance into Wren's life was not exactly a precise insight on his personality.
I like the determination with which Wren and the base of her harem took off on the quest to dethrone Ravana and get revenge, and I like the increased heat among the main characters - both in the sexual way and the heated tension between Wren's mates. The story developed nicely, though I have to admit even by being halfway through the book, it was unclear to me how to describe what's going on and provide a clear opinion - it only started to crystallize much later. Nevertheless, having a clue about the plot from book one definitely helped to keep the solid ground, and in the end, I was able to enjoy the book.

//Never a spoiler in any of my reviews.// If action and thrills are what you like, you've found that book right here! Well written with plenty of twists so as not to be at all boring at any level. This is the second book in a well-written series that only disappoints when you get to the end because you've finished the book! Even if this is not a genre you would normally read, you will find this particularly thrilling and entertaining and will have discovered two new super talented authors that can really tell and story and give you what you want in a book.
Fast-paced, with plenty of hot sex, action, humor, and well-developed characters that are super easy to get to know. You get the drift, now get the book! Looking forward to book 3 without a doubt! This is my unbiased and unsolicited review after receiving a complimentary copy.

Wren is fighting her Aunt Ravana who murdered her mother and now is trying to murder her she has found two of her five mates and just barely escaped from a bomb that was part of a setup and now she and the others have been snatched up find out they were being protected and taken to an underground installation for their own protection. Ashe has to witness something no one should and Wren doesn't know how to help him. But she has just met another of her guard and mates but he has pertinent information to share with her. Great characters, story line is very interesting. Book 2 in the Vampire Romance Series. I was given an Advance reader Copy as gift from author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.

She along with her mates Ashe & Charles, and human friend Zac start plotting a scheme of revenge on her aunt and claim her rightful place as Queen... in the process she learns a lot about her past and comes across the clues left by her mother... Another mate’s entry into her life turns the story with a cliffhanger... The author sustains the suspense with doses of revelations which is really remarkable... Have to wait and see what’s in store for Wren...

Wren is still my favorite kick ass heroine. No matter what her evil false queen aunt throws at her, Wren and her men come out on top. As the true Queen, she is gathering supporters as she finds the men who will fill her harem. In Defiance, Wren adds Charles to her harem. Unfortunately it is not always a smooth addition. This second installment to the Sever The Crown series is seamlessly written by two amazing authors, Mysti Parker and Lyndsey R Loucks. Be sure to get this book and continue this fantastic series.

Another amazing book
Wow defiance is an amazing book, I thought book one EMERGENCE was good but this one is even better. Defiance picks up right where EMERGENCE left off. We get to know harem member number 2 Charles and wow is he a badass. Charles and ashe have to deal with their jealousy tendencies if they want to live with being 2 of 5 in wrens harem. We meet number 3 Marlowe at the end of the book and I cant wait to see how he fits into the group. Pick up your copy today and jump right in. I enjoyed Defiance even more than the first book, Emergence! It turns up the action and romance as Wren connects with her 2nd mate, Charles. Her men struggle with jealousy as they get used to the idea of being a part of a 5 man harem. Together they work to stay alive and take down the evil false queen Ravana. Defiance is fast-paced and full of twists and turns and ups and downs. I highly recommend this to lovers of reverse harem PNR!

These characters are amazing! I thought I was disappointed with how Wren only meets the newest harem member at the end of the Book 1 and Book 2, but honestly, this allows me to look forward to an entire next book where we get to learn more about the new character as the story progresses. I think Charles is one of my favorites. I really enjoyed how Wren was slowly learning about her family and past in this book as well as creating and reinforcing connections between Ashe and Charles (Zac too). The ending was a little heartbreaking, but hooray for another reason for revenge!

Defiance takes this series up a notch. I thought the second book was better than the first. I am eagerly awaiting Obsession. This is a great series with more focus on action than the blood-drinking ... which is definitely a positive for me as that is the one part of vampire books I struggle with.
There are new elements introduced into this story that you don't see coming and even I am ready to kill Ravana at this point!

Wow! Where to start. This book picks up where the first leaves off. We have Wren, two of her five harem, Ashe and Charles, and the detective Zac. We learn more about Wrens mom and backstory on Charles. Action packed, more questions come about as well. At the end, we meet the third member of her harem. Loving this series, must read in order, definitely worth it. Cannot wait for the next one.

The step up the fight against her aunt and now her T.W.A.T.S. and is learning more about her early life from Charles.
I feel sorry for Zac, you know he has feelings for Wren but he's human. I'm still going to root for him to become a mate.
She's just found her next mate and I'm wondering what he has to offer to the fight.

I received Defiance, book 2 of the Sever the Crown series, from the author/publisher. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion.
Snarky, fast-paced, action-packed, and an excellent storyline--this series has it all. Some really tense moments mixed with lots of unexpected humor. Great writing, and a series worth following...it simple gets better with each book.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series, these authors have an interesting new spin on RH.
Found it hard to put down as was getting surprised with each new twist to the tale.
This is well worth your time if you enjoy RH with a twist and I am definitely looking forward to the next one in this series.

The action in this book is off the charts! We meet Wrens 2nd mate in this chapter & learn more about her mom as well. The chemistry between these two is amazing & I love how all of them play off of each other. I can’t wait to learn more about Wrens mom, meet her next mate & see how he works with the other two in the next installment of this series!!!

The story continues immediately following from the end of book one and finds the group immediately thrown into peril. This book is faster paced than book one with plenty of action as they continue the quest to sever the crown. As with the first book there is a lot of adult language and sex scenes, so not recommended for a younger audience. Can’t wait for the next book

Wren, Ashe, Charles and Zac have a plan and things go pretty smoothly at first. Then they get some info that that can't just let go, no matter what happens. Wren also learns a bit more about her mother and the late queen's mates.
I really enjoyed watching the group continue to grow stronger together, and can't wait to see what they get up to next. OMG that ending...how could it just end there.

Defiance (Sever the Crown) by Mysti Parker is an amazing story that I have loved reading very much. This is book number two in this amazing series that I can not get enough and can not wait to get book number three. I highly recommend this sot everyone who loves reading about vampires.

I love this series. Waiting for each book is like waiting for something good to arrive..it seems to take forever, and once you get it, you can't put it down. I don't want to do anything but delve into this world and see how it all ends. I would love to read over the authors' shoulders as they create this series.
