Dex never wanted to go to college. Nothing against it, he just had his own way planned out already, and it didn’t include following in his lawyer father’s footsteps.
But two years of nagging and understated threats have finally gotten to him, and he’s here… on campus… expected to toe the line, join his dad’s frat, and bang a lot of chicks.
They don’t talk about that time his dad caught him with a boy.
Dex does his best to forget it. He’s not gay. All it takes is some willpower.
Unfortunately, his rush partner Austin didn’t get the memo. Austin is out and proud, beautiful and athletic…
And somehow, he wants Dex.
There’s not enough willpower in the world to get him out of this kind of trouble… is there?
Denial is the second book in the Virtue & Vice series, but it can also be read as a standalone novel! This book was previously published under the title Courage and has been re-edited for release.
Austin appeared in book 2 as a hook up who wanted more with MC, but now is on his own to get his HEA. Dex and Austin have an interesting history with each other, but neither talk about it when they are partnered up to be Rush buddies. Each have things they prefer to hide from others, yet the chemistry between them cannot be denied no matter how cold Dex may act. When they are forced to admit their secrets theirs a possibility that they may be put in a vulnerable spot. Dex and Austin had to rely on each other and overcome their fear to work as a team to overcome the danger that they encounter and be able to be themselves. I loved how Dex not only accepted himself of his attraction to men, but he went above and beyond helped/loved Austin be himself and dress in clothing he enjoys.
From the chaos of life to the chaos of love, family, and friends
When two fated boys match up in spite of all the mindless madness of life, the Nutcracker becomes the Prince for a few emotional minutes until everything in the ballet returns to the original state of a stiff Nutcracker and his love.
The real life of college students can be similar to the few short minutes of of the ballet with confusing changes mixing with strong emotions as they stand up to the bullying and hazing situations that stress the moment even as the audience realizes the changing nuances of love and freedom from fear and fathers that try to restrict their boys' lives and love for each other. The shoes make the outfits if not the costume off the stage.
Dex and Austin have a bit of a history but chose to keep it under wraps, given the current situation thrust upon them. Working as a team can't be easy when you have a partner seemingly as cold as Dex or trying unsuccessfully, to hide the chemistry between one another. Austin wanted the relationship. It was up to Dex, to make his happiness or live for the desires of his dad. Wonderful plot and well written from start to finish.

I loved Denial. It's the second book in the Virtue and Vice series. I wasn't too fond of Austin and Dex's story when I started it. I didn't particularly appreciate how surely Dex was. I loved Austin right away. But as the book progressed, Dex grew on me, and I finally fell in love with him just like Austin did. I liked the sex scenes in this book better than the first book, Doubt. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deep self assessment. Austin, is out and proud. Dex, while passionately drawn to Austin, is still in the closet. His Dad, would not appreciate him being gay. Austin is still thinking joining a frat will get him accomodating sex. Dex and Austin were teamed up and the challenge began. Dex found himself with Austin. Can Dex come out and have Austin? What will Dad say? This dilemma is the story. Fantastic job! Well done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
College. Closet and dancing. This was a good story. Dex is a closeted wrestler who meets his match when he is teamed up with an out gay ballerino. They are doing rush week to get into a house on campus. They have a lot to work through. Trust for one thing.
Both boys in this book are each hiding their true selves. Slowly they start letting down their walls with each other exploring who they really are. Their romance is sexy and hot and exactly who they are.
