Last Dawn Trilogy #2

Dawn of Oppression

Rate this book
DAWN OF OPPRESSION by D.I. TELBAT is Book Two of the LAST DAWN TRILOGY, a Christian Post-apocalyptic, End Times Novel.

Twenty-one years after the collapse of America, the land has fallen to the evil Appalachian Federation, based in NYC. Christians who refuse to comply with new religious policies are arrested and executed. Chancellor Obrador, leader of the Federation, expects no one to challenge his harsh treatment of so many undesirables. Except he's made one terrible mistake: COIL has infiltrated his administration, and their new strategist is someone he least expects.

COIL rises from the ashes in this second book of the Last Dawn Trilogy. In the shadows of New York City, Corban Dowler applies his tradecraft now as an aging man. Although he seems to be working alone to protect hundreds of Christians across the region, God provides unlikely allies to work beside him. And one of those allies is at the top of the ruthless government.

Brian Steelman has returned from the West to face his past within the Federation. He has hunted and captured more Christians for the government than any other, and the chancellor will do anything to put his top killer back into action. But an underground revolt must be squashed before it spreads further. The leading culprit is a mysterious woman whose code name is Radiant Shade, and the chancellor wants her dead!

Heartbreak and anguish plague the land, but where God's people refuse to be silenced, His light shines. Corban Dowler is one of those lights, beside his blind daughter, Jenna, who bears a secret that could cost them their lives. Through examples of self-sacrifice and coded communications, the elite COIL operatives understand that though they are isolated from one another, they are united by their Savior, Jesus Christ. There is little hope for believers across the country, unless COIL's next generation of agents stands against an enemy the likes of which the land has never seen before. Operation Esther may be their only hope . . .

In America's last days, only the steadfast will survive!

Dawn of Oppression is a 118,000-word apocalyptic novel. Bonuses include: an author note, two maps, a glossary, a character sketch, and a teaser for Book Three of the series, Dawn of Subjection, due out summer 2020.

I've been writing novels and short stories since I was a young teen. God has greatly impacted me, and I now desire to honor the Lord with my life and writing.

My stories can be read in several online and print publications, as well as three anthologies. My bestselling COIL Series include novels Dark Liaison, Book One; Dark Hearted, Book Two; Dark Rule, Book Three; and Dark Vessel, Book Four, and are available at most e-retailers, as are Jaguar Dusk, a Christian Special Forces novel, Sea Scribe, a Covert Christian Mission Suspense, and End Times Novel, God's Colonel. See my website for other novels and stories added often, including Dark Cover, COIL Book Five, to be out late 2014.

I offer free weekly Christian short stories, or serialized novels, my Author Reflections, and occasional challenges to the Christian Church on my Telbat's Tablet blog at http://ditelbat.com.

When I'm not writing, I'm very involved in Christian ministry. I've kept my home office in the NW U.S. where my assistant, Dee, lives and helps with my editing and writing needs.

My motto: There is no redemption without sacrifice.

The Federation rotted, COIL prayed and Operation Esther neared completion...

Dawn of Oppression describes a new Federation and the COIL infiltrators plotting to remake the Federation from within... The issues facing the Federation are issues that always occur when amorality is praised and socialism thrives. In words copied from the book: "Taking from citizens who'd had much, to give equally to those who didn't want to apply themselves, had diminished the Federation to a people who expected handouts. The city's food ration system was a prime example. The wealthy had lost what they'd worked for, and the poor didn't have to work since the government had promised everyone an equal share. Entitlement ensued". The Federation rotted, COIL prayed and Operation Esther neared completion. What a great well written story! Cant wait for book 3!

This book alone warrants a sixth star , five just isn't enough , this book is that good .

David tells a beautiful story in this second installment of the Last Dawn Series .
As great as the first book was, this book was somehow even better . I feel.in love with the Caperstines , the several and the band of travelers headed east.
The start of this brilliant book offers glimpse into new characters that you will fall in love with and follow with baited breath as they themselves journey through America's last days.
I will not spoil anything by giving away unnecessary information; what I will say is " Read this book and all the others in the series ,but once you start , you won't be able to.out this brilliant story down. Absolutely brilliant , David is truly gifted to write .

I love these books! I was all tensed up, waiting to see how the story went regarding Operation Esther, and also afraid of what beloved characters would be killed. Telbat’s books always show God’s hands upon His people, and God’s people showing others His love, even if they have to die for the unsaved. Whew! Now for book three to come along!

If you haven’t read the first book, it would be best if you read it first. Actually, I personally think that it’s best to read the COIL books first so one understands what Corban Dowler and his operatics didn’t before this period, or this series.

Dawn of Oppression

This was worth every frustrating minutes, waiting for this story. Filled with tense moments of adventure, sorrow, and Christ's love. The best end of the world as we know it book ever. It is very Christ like, "love and pray for your enemies" is the motto. No killing from the Christians, not so on the others who lust after power. How long must we wait for the next story? Hoping it is not as long as this book was. A powerful well -written heart touching story. One of Telbat best examples of love and living faith in the dark night of terror.

I love all of your books, especially COIL books! But I believe this series is your absolute best! I couldn't stop reading, with all of the excitement of every word! Thank you for bringing back all of the old characters especially Corban!

I liked how much love and prayers that the Author puts into his books. The way he shows that the characters put all of their trust in the Lord!

Miracles and Cliffhanger

Oh how God protects His people! The weaving in this story is amazing. The COIL members working inside the Federation is amazing. Christians in high places within the Federation administration surprising. Last words of encouragement sent to Christian prisoners to be executed unique and a blessing. Prayers that I can be this strong if need be. Can't wait to read Book 3. Once again thank you for a job well done.

Faith: Belief in something that you can't see or touch.

This book will show you what real Faith is. Though living in oppressed times, the characters are strong in their faith in God and all he has promised. Reading this book has given me the opportunity to see that I have so much more to be thankful for than I realized. It has strengthened my love for the Lord.

Can hardly wait to get to the next book in the series!

If you enjoyed the Biblical account of Esther, you will definitely want to read this book. I love it when authors place their characters in situations that are shadows of the Bible.

Sad, joyful, wonderful

Don’t miss this book in the Dawn series. Continuing on with the same characters we have come to know and love with the addition of surprising new characters. Never give up on the redeeming work and grace of the Lord!

Awesome Book

I love this author and his books. It's hard to find books that don't compromise Christian values. The books by this author are a witness to God's love and care in the midst of trial and hardship.

Out of words...

The plot is so good and it only gets better as you progress in the story... From book #1, this tale with christian beliefs is an ongoing pursuit to keep up with the faith...doesn't let you down, even when it seems hopeless.

A couple of technical errors but spiritually sound.

First, I want to say that this author has strengthened my prayer life because he constantly reminds me that nothing is a surprise to God and He says in His word that we have not because we ask not. I am facing difficulties on several fronts in my personal life. Telbat's books remind me to put things in God's hands. Having said that, the technical error that jumped up and smacked me in the face was the description of the George Washington Bridge as being an arched bridge when, in fact, it's not. The driving surfaces (it's a dual-level bridge) are flat. Other than I found that to be distracting, I very much enjoy this author's work and have recommended his work to others in our ladies' Bible study and prayer group.
