SHORT story for fans of the Out of Uniform series featuring Wes and Dustin from WHEELS UP as they prepare to open a new chapter of their lives together. Best enjoyed after reading their book! Contains mild BDSM, nervous grooms, and Easter eggs galore for fan-favorite characters!
Frequent tweeter, professional grammar nerd, and obsessive reader, Annabeth Albert is also a Pacific Northwest romance writer in a variety of subgenres.
Emotionally complex, sexy, and funny stories are her favorites both to read and to write. In between searching out dark heroes to redeem, she works a rewarding day job and wrangles two toddlers.
A big part of this already very short novella focuses on some sort of security assignment for a random celebrity wedding, which I quite frankly could not have cared less about.
There are hardly any sweet or cute moments between Dustin and Wes to be found here, and their only extended intimiate interaction is a sex scene, which, by the way, has really gone a LOT more heavy on the BDSM than they used to be.
Nonetheless, I of course still love these two so much, even if the feelings were a bit off for me, and they weren't really the same people or couple as before. But oh well, it's supposed to be years later, so some change is realistic, I guess.
"I love you. So much. Feels like I can never tell you enough. Never show you enough." "You do. And just you. That's enough for me."
I will always enjoy reading more about Wes and Dustin, but I liked their happily ever after in their previous novella, Homebodies, more. This simply didn't add anything for me.
It's a bit of a wasted opportunity, since Wes and Dustin had such a great dynamic, that this story had the potential to be once again amazing! Instead, this novella was bland and nothing all too interesting.
I wanted the Wes and Dustin I know and love! Which, unfortunately, I didn’t get here.

It had been awhile since I had last read anything from the Out of Uniform series and I had forgotten how much I love these men. This was short, sweet and gave me a taste of the series I was so into awhile back. I really enjoyed this!
I'm trying to really finish series I've started and I ran into this little short. I really liked the Out of Uniform series. A variety of couples with different dynamics, stories all about family, and really good audio narrators to boot.
This short is a visit with Wes & Dustin from Wheels Up who are/were my least favorite couple from this universe and my same niggles continue. I still think Wes is punching way above his weight class but 🤷🏻♀️ if Dustin is happy, who am I to say? In any case it was sweet short visit with old friends with some cameos from other couples in the series and from other AA books. No harm no foul.
This was ok. I thought we were going to see their wedding not them providing bodyguard work for someone else's wedding. I was kind of bummed. Not much to this.
Short story of Dustin and Wes, going on assignment on wedding security duty, before their ceremony. Nice and quicky, with a little D/s scene in between

Not as entertaining as I expected, considering that I loved the Out of Uniform series. I would have liked to see the actual wedding and the crypticness of the identity of the side characters fell flat.
An M/M short story that is a sequel to Wheels Up/Homebodies It has been a few years since Wheels Up and Dustin and Wes are on a light job (not very convincing) securing a wedding just before their own wedding. And we get a good glimpse of the wedding.
The steam meter was surprisingly higher for this short story compared to all the books in the series and even the level of D/s was higher! No switching though.
Series: Out of Uniform #7.5 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
A short scene with Dustin and Wes providing security for a popular musician's wedding and preparing for their own wedding. I liked seeing these two work as a team and finally tie the knot. I do wish we had seen their actual wedding and honeymoon though.
A fun wedding-themed story with Albert's Out of Uniform characters. I admire her ability to create a real story with elements of both drama and romance.
You don't have to have read the rest of her series to appreciate this, but it helps.
Sweet story about Dustin and Wes’ wedding, held where their first date was. Really good and sweet. As the author says, there are lots of Easter Eggs too, with appearances from characters from multiple of her series.
