THE INEVITABLE TRUTH. The revelatory tale of Mutantkind’s fall comes to a conclusion that will lay the groundwork of the X-Men’s stories for years to come! Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman (NEW AVENGERS, FF, INFINITY) and rising star artist RB Silva (UNCANNY X-MEN) wrap the series that reveals everything!
Jonathan Hickman is an American comic book writer and artist. He is known for creating the Image Comics series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as working on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, FF, and S.H.I.E.L.D. titles. The sixth issue of House of X, one of the twin series that mark the start of Jonathan Hickman era of X-Men. Both House of X and Powers of X are meant to be read together.
Read as a single issue on the Comixology app. The collective review for the entire House of X/Powers of X storyline can be found on my review of House of X/Powers of X.
I went over the Moira map many times and never noticed that life 6 was missing, I would have totally guessed that that life was the weird future we kept seeing over and over. So humans win by evolving through technology, and they are holding Moira and other mutants hostage, and they are aware that if Moira dies they lose everything they achieved when they are so close to joining the Phalanx. Moira couldn't die unless she knew what was happening or else she could have asked wolverine to kill her long ago. And once they learn she gets killed and goes back to pass over her knowledge. Here is the crazy thing, I am writing this after I read 3 issues of the first volume of Dawn of X since I didn't get the new router immediately. But House of X/Power of X, will probably be better than anything the actual runs that continue their stories. They are just this good, I can't even begin to comprehend how a mind like Hickman's works to set this all up like that, he is even taking the role of the head of X, in all the series that come after, which probably means everything has to go through him first, it's new, and it's great. Actually not new, since Gaiman got that consultant job before for books of magic, and probably even the dreaming but I didn't read it yet, but it was way smaller scale than what's being done here. It's the best era for X-Men fans, and it's the reward oldies like me deserve for sticking with the series this long.
Charles' reaction on reading Moira X's mind is the same I had reading this 12 issues long re-launch of mutant series.
It blown my mind for good and Hickman let me love again reading X-Men comics after years of crap because of Disney Marvel trying to boost Inhumans before buying Fox... etc. etc.
Maybe a few too much author driven than characters driven, but I totally enjoyed the ride and now it's time to re-read the whole HoX/PoX saga again.
4,5/5. I might have expect a bit more from this last one. It was great, don't get me wrong, and a really nice conclusion to this extraordinary series. But it felt like a conclusion, no big last bang, we just wrapped everything up, but we do it perfectly. It also seem to open up on a bunch of news series/reboot which I,m really curious about. Not sure I'm going to jump on all of them but I will certainly have a look at them and read some!
“And if you find yourselves asking, who are these mutants to think they can dictate terms to us? We are the future. An evolutionary inevitability. The Earth’s true inheritors. You closed your eyes last night believing this world would be yours forever. That was your dream. And like mine it was a lie. Here is a new truth: While you slept the world changed.” – Professor X
So much to unpack. What an incredible fricking reboot. Almost every character stands out in their new light shone cleverly and carefully crafted by Hickman. Underlying the series are some interesting philosophical themes of evolution, control and politics that I'd love to unpack on my own time.
Power of X brought with it fascinating timelines and introduced Moira MacTaggert as one of the most most impactful character in the Marvel universe. I loved the pacing and how each big event unfolded with just the right amount of foreshadowing. There's action, shocking reveals and twists and a bright future for the new dawn of X-men. LET'S GO!
Not gonna lie, I was really apprehensive when I saw this issue's cover. I thought all the hope and positive build-up in House of X #6 would be undone, i.e., all our favorite mutants dead including Xavier (isn't it his arm that's shown in foreground left?) and only Moira is left standing.
But wow. This issue's reveals and plot twists really pack a punch. We finally know about Moira's sixth life! More info about her No Place! The Librarian and his ascension plan in x-year 1000! The people we see in the “jungle reservation” that the Librarian was observing!
One really has to pay attention to every single panel with HoX/PoX. Because I missed one textbox the first time I read this issue and only caught it during my second reading and then this book's plot made a lot more sense. I love being kept on my toes like this! The X-Men line is finally revived!
I'm really satisfied with how Hickman ended this duology; it's a perfect start with which to launch Dawn of X. Hopeful but cautious.
Moira's journey throughout Powers of X put an interesting new spin on past X-Men events, while providing glimpses of the future. These glimpses have been largely confusing, especially the distant Phalanx storyline, and the revelation of how it all comes together is mind-blowing. The way Hickman has teased it out and pushed the conventions of comic book storytelling with prose, charts, and journal entries is brilliant. Even more amazing, is the way he has set the X-Men up to move forward. This is the most focused and unified that mutant-kind has been, an organized force on the world stage, and plenty of seeds have been planted for political as well as interpersonal drama. Even death isn't what it used to be... and, for the X-Men, that's saying something.
There's a page in this issue where Charles reads Moira's mind and it wrecks him. Pretty much an accurate representation of everyone reading this series.
A conclusion that’s really only the preamble for a new era of X-Men comics - the Dawn of X. If you’ve enjoyed the House of X/Powers of X run even half as much as I have, you’re no doubt foaming at the mouth for what the future may hold for mutant, man, and machine.
A great conclusion to one of the best events I have read in a long time. Moira was such a good character throughout in this and I loved how she was used. This has me unbelievably excited for what's next. I am really kicking myself for not reading this sooner but now with the Marvel app, I can do a deep dive and not have to wait weeks for stuff. To me, my X-Men!
And so the two finished and we ready for what's next. A lot of great options and this issue left many wondering thoughts of what's happening at each given point. Greatly enjoyed this.
This one hurt. I want to see the Dawn of X era defy that sentence. I also want Siren ....or is it Banshee? Now that both Sean and Theresa Cassidy are alive is Theresa back to being Siren so dad can keep his code name? Wait. I was saying that I want Dazzler and Siren to put on a show for me! I'm sad the relaunch series is over. But I can't wait to see what happens next!
Almost speechless. I’m glad this is the first weekly/monthly comic I picked up because this run has been nothing short of amazing and I can’t wait until I read what Hickman does next with the X-Men.
I’m so happy that someone has breathed life back into this franchise again. It was much needed after the dreaded Inhumans fiasco they’ve been running at Marvel the last couple of years.
okay i started this off reading it to fill the void in my heart were the xmen are but i got hella interested by the 5th issue- charles kept girlbossing to close to the sun and i doNT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER HE SAYS “yes, let them.” GAAAHHHHH.
Oh yeah, I was quite nervous going into this issue because I still had so many questions but this really went in a direction that complete reshape the way I’ve looked at this series and finally made all the pieces click into place.
This had great art and great writing in some ways but I had some gripes there was some serious repetition in this issue and even more wasted pages than usual
Perfect ending! This was such an awesome ride from start to finish. I would read it all over again but I have TOO MANY other comics I wanna get into. But wow, I'll never forget this one. It's just so good and sets up the world of mutants so nicely for future stories. Additionally, mutants are effectively immortal now by way of the Krakoan resurrection protocols so that's a plus. The mutant superhero teams can give their all on missions without having to worry about the permanent embrace of death.. As noted in the ending, this comic run opens the door for tons of future storylines in all areas such as magic, science, and politics and I CANNOT wait to read them all.
The ending to another life of Moira rocks our understanding of the current X-Universe. Hickman weaves this in beautifully to the already established story of these two series and specifically the ending of House of X #6. It throws another pretty big wrench into our understanding of the potential known futures for the X-universe.
leer estos cómics fue algo totalmente diferente a los de house of x, en lo personal claro esta, la forma en la que estabas en un año y de la nada en otro, god this shit was confusing. vale la pena leerlo? si si si
no matter what, mutants will fail. that is what destiny teaches Xavier and Magneto. But they believe their cause is worth trying to make succeed. they are willing to fight to the absolute death for their cause. what a beautiful ending to this perfect event.
