Ian Mallory lives anything but a boring life. He lost his first wife to a bullet that's now stuck in his brain, and when his second wife's step-daughter stabbed a classmate, it was up to him to get rid of the body. This is no secret for the NSA, which has blackmailed Ian into working for them. Thrust into the midst of secret agents, dirty lawyers, mobsters, and former Navy SEALs hell-bent on attacking their homeland, Ian will stay calm, cool, and collected through it all, thanks to that 9mm slug lodged in his brain that short-circuited his emotions.
This started well. An intriguing opening where main character, Ian Mallory lives in Paris with his pregnant wife, but their happiness is ended abruptly by an attacker on a motorcycle who fires one shot which kills the wife and gets lodged in Ian's brain. Fast forward five years. Ian is a successful thriller writer now. Doesn't work for NSA anymore, but one thing leads to another and he gets entangled into the spy world again, while searching for his wife's killer. Unfortunately, after the first issue story takes a turn for worse and starts to unravel in a way that doesn't really make a lot of sense. Ending leaves us with more questions than answers and for what? However, thanks to the dynamic of the story and art that fits the series, it reads like a new Netflix spy action thriller.
