After nearly four decades of ministry, Andrew Wommack has discovered some important truths about prayer. His prayer life is much different than it was thirty years ago and the results have dramatically improved! You may be asking many of the same questions Andrew once did. Is prayer my Christian duty? Is prayer primarily about asking God to meet my needs and the needs of others? Is God's answer to my prayer based on the degree of my humility and sincerity? Is answered prayer a sovereign decision of God or do I have the ability to influence Him? Clear, scriptural answers to these questions and more could significantly change the way you pray. These principles may not be the only way to pray, but if you're not getting the results you desire, consider changing directions; maybe there is A Better Way to Pray
Andrew began his ministry in 1972 and is the President and Founder of Andrew Wommack Ministries and Charis Bible College located in Colorado Springs. For four decades Andrew has been teaching the Word of God. His revelation is taught with clarity and simplicity, emphasizing God’s unconditional love and grace. His daily Gospel Truth radio and television programs are broadcast domestically and internationally.
He founded Charis Bible College in 1994 and has established 70+ extension colleges in major cities of America and around the world. Andrew has produced a library of teaching materials in print, audio, and visual formats.
I am part of an internship at my church, and A Better Way to Pray was part of required reading. I have to say, this was one of my favorites we read. It really altered my view of how to pray--and pray effectively in the body of Christ. It will challenge your thinking, stretch your faith, and make you wish you'd read it ages ago! It is truly a life changing book!!!
I purchased this book in some efforts of improving my 30 mins "quite time". The book went way deeper than those 30 mins, explored more concepts than "Being that good girl who prays every day for long periods"
I disagreed with the author in some points .. However, its an EXCELLENT book ! Highly recommended for Christians who are still confused about praying !
Another great book by Andrew Wommack. It appears that there are many things today that can make the most simple things difficult such as prayer. I have heard many different ways of doing it, get up very early and pray for an hour or two, do it at the end of your day, do it in a small, isolated place, do it outside, speak it out loud or write it in your journal, incorporate song, etc. I believe that there is no one way for everyone. As Wommack points out "the heart attitude behind your prayer interests God much more than the actual words you say."
Today many people see prayer as a time to ask God to fix this or give them that. But he states that is complaining, or griping. He says that "praying God's solution from the Word releases life but praying negatively and focusing on your problems only energizes and strengthens them." Wommack also points out to look to Jesus' prayer in the bible as our model. Christ's model began and ended with praise. Our prayer time with God is our intimate time with him just like our intimate time with someone we love deeply. In order to develop this relationship, it requires time. God loves us infinitely more than we love Him. Wommack shares that for him, he prays to God throughout his day. My notes here are inadequate to express the simplicity and power of this book. I encourage you to read it.
Awesome book. Disclaimer eat the meat spit out the bones. Having said that this book along with other teachings by Andrew Wommack has revolutionized my prayer life. I am getting very good accurate and instant results and answers. I look forward to prayer and this book has made prayer for me less rote but instead organic and free flowing from a love relationship with my Abba Father. Read it until the end it's a hard/easy read. Hard in that it kills our sacred cows of prayer and it tears down many long held beliefs. It also has some things in it some may deem contrary with much of our usual doctrine. So you have to confront those issues from within which I don't mind. But an easy read in that it is written directly with easy to comprehend language and supernaturally easy to understand. Read this book if you want to pray life changing prayers that get results.
They don't teach this in church. Powerful. Takes praying to a new level. Theologically sound. Easy to digest and implement. Critical info to have in your spiritual arsenal.
This book offered some unique insights into faith and prayer. I did disagree with some of his conclusions and that is why I only gave 3 stars. For instance in the matter of healing, he says you only have to pray one time and you will be healed - literally no reservations. The Apostle Paul would disagree based upon what he shares in 2 Corinthians 12. He also says we no longer need to be intercessors for other people in prayer (chapter 8). I find throughout the book of Acts and the writings of Paul intercessory prayer taking place in one way or another.
This is an enlightening book on prayer. It teaches you what the real purpose of prayer is and how to pray more effectively and to debunk the false concepts that are often considered pray and putting back to the Word of God.
One reason this is a good book is because it breaks a lot of the major mindsets that people have about, "we need to pray looong prayers in order for God to answer your prayer." Whether you pray hard or pray soft God is your father and He wants to help you!
I had a Pastor recommend this book to me. Wow! This book has changed my prayer. It has changed how I say The Lord's Prayer. After reading what Andy Womack explained how to pray the Lord's prayer on Wednesday night my own Pastor Franklin Jentzen taught it to us during service. Pastor Jentzen had no clue I just read Andy Womack's book.
It was a good book about prayer. It contains some very good thoughts about prayer and how to come close to God. I did not completely agree with all his points, but i think it still was important parts to think about.
Andrew has a unique gift to share. Read this book or listen to the cd. We can perform miracles. He shares wait God taught him. You need this in your life. God bless ad enlighten you in your quest. Amen
There is a lot of perspective shifts in here. A lot of things I had been taught and told to believe are also the things that have held me back at times. Taking authority, acknowledging Gods faithfulness of answered prayers. Things I needed to hear.
There are lots of mysteries about and around how prayer works. Contrary to the unifying call and purpose of Christians, each one almost follows a different kind of practice and knowledge about prayer. In this book, the author does not claim that the ways presented are the only way to successful prayer but guarantees that this is his personal experience which bare fruit for him through out his service to the Lord. The main message lies in believing that God has already answered most of our prayers and when we pray we just need to receive it in faith. There are a host of possible hinderances to our answer to the prayer which need our fight in Jesus name. I found it challenging , inspirational and much more convincing of all the books I have read on the subject matter.
Are your prays not seeming to get answered? He’s not going to say you’re praying wrong, but Wommack definitely thinks you’re praying wrong, and he’s here to tell you a better way.
I’m very religious, but also very tolerant and curious (in an educational way) about other religions. I would in no way want bash another religion, but this book... It had grains of truth, like that we need to communicate with God as our Father and not some judgeful being in the sky, and that recited prayers aren’t what Jesus intended. I definitely appreciated that Wommack knew Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost to be three separate beings. But overall, there were too many things I disagreed with.
Two lessons I picked up from this book (among many others:
1. Prayer comes easy when you're not so problem-oriented, but when you spend most of the time simply enjoying moments of intimacy in the place of worship.
2. A prayer of faith will not always produce instant results, but that doesn't mean God didn't respond (He always does), it simply means you need to stay in faith until you see the results you have been provided with in the spiritual realm manifest in the physical.
I didn't realize this was written but a world-renowned televangelist when I purchased or I never would have picked it up. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Just because you claim to know God and that Jesus was raised from the dead does not mean you are saved. Even the demons know who he is. Will they all be saved? Just a salesman who found a niche and doesn't share proper information. Would not recommend.
