Kevin Newsome has been arrested and about to stand trial for the reckless homicide of his wife. Mrs. Newsome suffered a heart attack in her sleep. Police tried to connect the couples BDSM lifestyle with her death and allege that her husband put her life at risk by participating in risky behavior. An ambitious out-of-town attorney has taken the high profile case pro bono and wants to make a name for himself. Through the trial, their most intimate moments are put under a microscope. This book is unlike any other I have ever written. The plot of this novella involves people who are active in the BDSM community. Since much of the story takes place inside a courtroom, this book is free of much of the profanity and slang words that are often commonplace in a book on this subject matter. There are a lot of discussions of sexual situations as it is an integral part of the plot. If you find this topic offensive, please do not read this book. My goal is to entertain my readers and I am thankful for everyone who takes the time to read any of my books. I do not want to offend anyone. Similarly, if you were interested in this book because of its subject matter, you are likely to be disappointed. Despite the plot, this book is not erotica and it is not intended to sexually arouse the reader. However, due to the subject matter, this book is not intended for readers under 18.
Rick Amburgey was raised on the music of some of country music's greatest storytellers - Conway Twitty, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. The influence of these men was evident as he grew and became a writer. All of his stories were heartfelt, emotional and honest - sometimes uncompromisingly honest. Amburgey won four awards from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association as a college journalist. After graduating college, he has served as an editor of the Springboro Star Press, as well of assistant editor of Strum Magazine. Rick Amburgey also has written two collections of poetry - Matters of the Heart and Heartstrings. He has also published three novels, which are titled United We Stand, Stronger Than That and Broken Nation, Broken Hearts. These novels show real people with real problems and takes the reader on a journey with the characters that include self-discovery and the search for true happiness. Rick Amburgey is currently working on some exciting new projects. The new projects include a paranormal romance and even a holiday novel. The new projects feature similar themes and well-developed characters, but they are darker, grittier and even more true-to-life. Rick Amburgey currently teaches reading on the middle school level.
Felt like a lot of details were left out of the story. More trial details would have made it more complete. Definitely needed proofing and edits before going to print. Difficult to read with so many errors in spellings/incorrect words. Interesting topic that had a lot of potential.
