Alpha Dragos Lupescu is an enforcer to the werewolf king and on a mission to capture a tyrannical alpha accused of many crimes, including murder. Along with his boyfriend Aurelius Conti, an Italian elenkti able to control the emotions of his fellow werewolves, they're back in Isherwood. Neither are prepared when it looks like their duo is about to become a trio. Journalist Ryan Seeley is in Isherwood after his homophobic father had a heart attack, and he jumps at the chance to investigate the violence happening in the nearby ghost town. He has no idea why he's so incredibly attracted to a beast who sounds like Dracula and a little beauty with soulful eyes, but it's compromising his work and his sanity. And then they go and tell him they're werewolves and he's their fated mate, the one person meant to be theirs. With Dragos compromised by his instincts to protect his mates, Aurel exhausted from trying to keep everyone calm, and Ryan caught up in the middle, the violence arrives at their doorstep. Now the three of them must come together with their allies to recover a weapon that could expose them all while also desperately trying to stop a massacre.
Missy Welsh stares into space a lot, has conversations with cats, takes notes while people-watching, records conversations (not the ones with cats), named her laptop Norbert and her phone Pushkin, has backups of her backups’ backups, faints at the sight of a misused semi-colon, and will often ask socially unacceptable questions of strangers. Basically, she’s a writer.
Great addition to the series. I hadn't been expecting these two to add a third to their relationship, but it made perfect sense once they got to that point. Interesting resolution to some of the problems in the previous books, so that's nice. I'm very excited to see what happens in the last book -- I was completely surprised by the Sawyer twist after being ready for him to develop more as an alpha. BTW, "discreet" is a very different word from "discrete" -- I wish authors and editors would get that one right...
3.5 stars Something didn't click for me with these three... still would have been 4stars. BUT That little gem in the end pi*** me of to no end... In epilogue Dragos informs Ryan and Aurel that he is planning to have a baby ( and I'm like "what???"). No discussion, nothing.
“I will give this (he means the baby)to you both,” Dragoș said, his voice sounding strained in Ryan’s ear. “Together, we will be exceptional fathers.”
How magnanimous of you Dragos. I want to present you with my middle finger🤷♀️😄
So I decided to skip book 2 as this book looked more interesting to me. Just like the first book very sweet and easy to read. Finished in one sitting loved the plot and the characters especially Dragos.
Good addition to the series. A little action to break up the werewolf reveal drama. Lots of love and acceptance. The three of them seemed to work well together!
I've loved reading this series so far and TripleMate gives us a little something extra with a human becoming the mate of an already established werewolf couple. Ryan stumbles across two men as he chases a story and doesn't understand his immediate attraction to them. Aureli and Dragos have been together for a few years and another mate, a true mate, is something neither expected but welcome as it brings them all closer together. Things, of course, don't go to plan as misunderstandings and poor explanations lead to Ryan escaping as fast as possible. There is, understandably, disbelief on Ryan's part as Aureli and Dragos struggle in their own way which was a little heartbreaking to read. Missy gives a lot of emotion to all of the characters, all of their feelings valid and important, especially to be able to work as a triad. I loved how things played out in regards to Ryan adjusting to the situation and though he was new to the already established couple, it never felt like he was on the outside. We've had interaction with Aureli and Dragos before but we get the chance to know them better know and each man has obvious love and care for the other whilst committed to doing their duty whilst on a mission in a foreign country. Alongside of all of the relationship drama is the series story arc of a rogue alpha and his pack fighting against what the new werewolf King is working towards. This part fell a little to the side as the relationship took main stage for the majority of the book. As it's something that has been building, I thought a bit more would have been present throughout the story and it ended a little quickly for me. There is a well written fight scene that had me engaged as there were several main characters involved with clashes going on in several places. I'm hoping book #4 will provide a lot of resolution for several characters and the chance at a bright future for the Isherwood Pack. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
