Hi, my name is Isobella Crowley... but only my mum calls me Isobella. Everyone else calls me Izzie.

And yes, I said mum, not mom - which tells you I'm from England. Bicester (near Oxford) to be exact. Like Scarlett in "A Very British Witch".

I also love all things Wiccan and magical. I taught myself how to use tarot cards when I was 8. Also learned a bunch about astrology, so it seemed only natural that I'd end up writing about a girl who finds out she's a Wiccan by descent, and spends her free time in a real life magical book shop.

The wine shop she works in is based on an adorable little vintners in Eton... just the other side of the bridge from Windsor. If you ever visit there, be sure to check it out. The guy who owns it knows EVERYTHING about wine. And he's kinda cute.

Ok, that's a little about me. I'm also on facebook, and would love to connect with you. Hope you enjoy reading these stories!

Let's start with - I never write reviews. I read A LOT, but I don't bother with reviews, because I usually don't have anything new to add. However, this book baffled me so much I decided a week ago, I will write this. I'm still not sure WHAT I will write,... but here I go.

I really have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it is badly written, the characters are completely 2 dimensional (close to 1 dimensional), but on the other hand, it did put me to sleep for two weeks straight. And I have trouble falling asleep. I usually have to read two books at once (a fun and a serious one, that eventually puts me to bed), because the ones I read for fun will have me reading until 2 or 3am.

I'm still not sure what was the point of the book. I have a feeling they are trying for a series, but I have no idea how they are going to develop something this flat.

As I have said,... I was reading this book for two weeks and I STILL had to search for it for 15min on the internet and then eventually give up, and go look through my Kindle history, because I couldn't remember the title.

It's a "meh" book. Completely unevenful and forgettable, but I am grateful I was able to go to sleep like a baby for two weeks. What do you know - maybe I'll read the sequel! I had great two weeks, because I was so well rested.

Nutcase writer duo

NWD - that's what I will call MA & ELC from now on. ELC: no wonder the Scarlet series was very Molly indeed, and very British. MA: mate, keep up the good work in finding asylum runaways like ELC.

Good

I liked the storyline but the bouncing between perspectives was a little unnatural. Sometimes the sentence structure was buggy. Taylor was a little to grippy and Remy a little too gloaty.

I loved this story!

Remy is hilarious. All he's done in his life is party, drink, drug and spend money. Now he has been cut off by his family and is forced to begin growing up. He contacts the only business he owns that is making money and begins working there for Taylor. He begins to learn about the paranormal side of life. All the adventures he experiences are funny, dangerous or both. First, Taylor is a vampire. One who polices New York, making sure that humans are left to deal with other humans and not preyed upon by the supernatural. Next, there seems to be a small rebellion brewing. Quelling the rebellion is the rest of the story.

I Dreamed That I Watched My Favorite Show

Estranged from his family, Remy finds that his remaining company, an investigation agency, is his only cash flow. Taylor, the mysterious woman who runs it, has an agenda not necessarily congruent with his. However, he ends up as an employee rather than the boss that he thought he was. Taylor kicks butt keeping order in the preternatural community, while Remy gets his butt kicked trying to mitigate disputes. I like the action, humor, and hilarious sexual tension. After all, a Fairy wants what she wants, and she does like honey. By mistake, I read the second book first and enjoyed it. I look forward to another book.

This is such a great twist on Vampires and werewolves!
Remy is such a cluster! Totally reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau! The way he looks out and trips and falls and lands and Roses all the time and of course he thinks it's all him! Freaking hilarious!
Can not wait for the next book!!!!

What a great book!

This is an awesome read. Full of fun and snappy, snippy word play. I have been to some of the party's described. It's all fun and games until you need a bathroom.... I will continue reading this story through all its twists and turns. I will enjoy the verbal battles in the notes at the end. Read this you'll like it. Nuff said. Peace

The magic duo is back!!

Sounded kinda interesting, but who had ever heard of Isobella Crowley! Fooled me!! This delightful comedy of fantasy and monsters is written by Ell Leigh Clarke and Michael Anderle. Need I say more. I enjoyed the book as much as the snarky comments from the authors at the end. Delightful, indeed!

Brilliant new character / series

An enthralling new twist on the supernatural by who I thought was a gifted new author who turned out to be one of my favourite authors of a different genre. Highly recommended.

This was a really cool book. I liked Taylor and Remington grew on me although I did get tired of his attitude. I'm looking forward to the next book to see if he improves over time.

This was a real corker of a story, and I just want to keep on reading but, like the good girl that I am, I know I need to write a review, before I forget details!

Firstly, I bought this book as part of a Box Set but, as I've explained before, I truly believe that every book deserves it's own review - and so, here I am, writing the first book review.

Secondly: Last Ditch Effort was a great read. The premise to the story was rather different to most of the stories I've been reading recently, and that intrigued me straight away!

I love the character of David Remington - or Remy to his 'friends' - and find him amusing, obnoxious, sadly needy, but with some good staying power once he makes up his mind about things - even if what he thinks of things is totally wrong! Lol

I definitely like Taylor. I've become very fond of any female Vampire who believes in Justice, and is willing to fight for it, no matter what it takes, or how much blood she has to spill to get her point across - and Taylor is doing this in spades.

How they got together in partnership made me laugh, and I love that Taylor has the patience to oh, so, slowly, allow Remy to learn by his mistakes and, boy, are there plenty of them!

But his one redeeming feature, is that he's determined to prove to Taylor that he's worth it!

I really love Presley, too, and his calmness in the face of Remy's almost infantile sense of humour - now there's a man who really does have patience!

This first book of the series had me gripped almost immediately, and it took a lot of strength, for me to actually stop reading - so I could get some sleep last night - but the wait was well worth the ending scenes that I caught up with today!

Awesome stuff!

I won't go into the plot - I think you all deserve to find that out for yourselves, as it's so much more fun that way. But I definitely think you should all get this series, as it's totally worth it!

As an added bonus, the Author's Notes, after each story, are as fun to read as the books themselves, and I turn to them, eagerly, after I've finished each book.

Moonlighting!

That answered a lot of questions for me!

So, go on and buy the series, as I know you'll want to read them, too! Lol

Before any more wasted time passes, where I'm not reading, I'll bid you adieu, and I'll catch you on the flip side of book two: Diamond in the Rough.

Great book

Love the humor, but the action, characters and out name this a compelling take. Then as an added bonus, the author notes at the back give the reader a view of the talented personalities behind the scenes. Great way to take your mind off the the problems the world keeps throwing at is.🤓

The not so usual.

This is a different story that it intrigued me, Taylor is not your usual vampire, and Remy is interesting to watch bumble through normal human lifes problems. I recommend it to fans of fantasy mystery novels.

This series is entirely not worth it. The characters are not annoying and are pretty awful to everyone around them. There is slight growth in both main characters, but not enough to count for anything.

There is no romance. The side characters are 1-dimensional and deserve to be treated much better by the MCs. In fact, I absolutely hated the MMC and his treatment of others.

Also, this is predominately told from the MMC POV, although there are multiple POVs.

Stay away from this series and move on with your day.

The MMC was pretty annoying throughout the book with a few redeeming moments but not enough. There was a lot of potential for the story but it was a very slow progression and hard to stay interested in. He made a much better supporting character than he did a main character.

I Dreamed That I Watched My Favorite Show

Estranged from his family and low on funds, Remy investigates his last remaining company. Taylor, the woman who runs it, does not have goals congruent with his. Guess who ends up working for who? I like the action, humor, and hilarious sexual tension. I look forward to another book.
