Aurora Marelup #1

Hide Little Wolf

Rate this book
My name is Aurora and I am the last of my bloodline.

The Strigoi killed my family within moments of my birth. They entrusted my life to my Guardians Dimitri a Great Bear and Andre a Golden Eagle. They sent us through a portal to the new world to hide and protect me. We've spent the last two hundred years on the move like gypsies. The time has come and I've obtained my full power.

The hunt for my mates is on. Once I succeed, I will take back my mother's throne and dance on the bones of the Strigoi.

Trigger warnings:
Decapitation. There is m/m & m/m/m scenes. There is shifted sex. (Wolf on mate) Blood and Gore. Why choose romance (multiple men faithful to one female). Cliffhanger. This is book one of five

I knew I was in for it when the first page had different tenses, but I was hoping that I was wrong. But nope, I wasn’t. I really don't know what to say about this book; the writing was poor, there was no worldbuilding, and every "development" in the plot (using that term VERY loosely here) was either through dialogue or internal dialogue. No descriptions of anything whatsoever. It was just a confusing mess.

This book was beyond amazing. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I finished the last page, needless to say I finished it in one sitting. It moves along at a really great pace for reading, making for an enjoyable read. The characters are amazing, they seem so real that you feel as though you know them and no matter what you want to be there for them. The story will keep you reading till the end and then you need more. This book has to be read, no doubts about it.

This book blew my expectations away and left me needing more. As Aurora faces challenge after challenge she stays steady and meets each head on with finesse as well as awe-inspiring bloody thirstiness. The prologue was an amazing addition to an already great story riddled with phenomenal world building. She is the ultimate take-no-names FMC and her mates are just heartwarming. This book is dark, gory, heartwarming, inspiring, goal making...definitely a 1-click series for me.

I don't even know where to start! This is an incredible story that is well written. I love the characters especially Aurora. She is just enough crazy and a no nonsense type of person. There is great humor, gore, and heat. The flow of story is easy to follow and read. I really liked the development in the characters and world. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Aurora is one of my all time favorite FMC's. She's bloodthirsty, hilarious, and yet still has an occasional softness. With a slow building harem and a huge amount of suspense and action, Ascend is an incredible start to the series!

An intriguing tale

This is a very different shifter story. I have read many with fated mates but nothing with this premise. If you like action and steamy scenes you will enjoy this book.

Needs an editor

I so wanted to like this story, but I just can’t. The premise is fascinating, and could carry a tale well, except the execution of said ideas falls flat. It feels like a first draft, and a brutal one at that. The FMC, a lost Lycan Princess Well over 200 years old, is immature, blood thirsty, disconnected from her wolf, selfish and power hungry - but she can do no wrong, at least not in the eyes of her Harem. She even kills a sex worker in the beginning from jealousy, over a guy who is not even her mate!! She IS bonded to him, but it was a forced protective bond that is broken soon after the story progresses. This man, a bear shifter, who she is so jealous of, is actually a father figure - and not in the daddy kink kind of way.
There is also a decided lack of editing throughout the novel. POVs switch as quickly as tenses do, flipping back and forth in a whiplash that leaves the reader reeling.
Overall, I was highly disappointed and cannot, in good conscience, recommend this book - at least not now. Perhaps a rewrite, thorough editing and rounds with a beta reader might change my mind.

- First and third person, multiple POV, dark fantasy, Cliffhanger.
- Rating = NC-17
- Romantic Dynamic = sigh.... MMFMM, I think?
- Character age range = 221+

Pros:
- The base concept is kinda cool.
- Her shifted Lycan form sounds bad@ss.

Cons:
- Poor, or no, Editing.
- Jumbled and disjointed writing.
- Unapproachable characters that make no sense.
- Lack of world building.

Second edition with added content:

I really loved the new additions to this book, especially the info about Oberon's part in everything. It made more sense. Oh and that little nugget about Dom sleeping, let's just say that I kept returning to that line laughing.

My favourite quote: When motivated, a b*tch power walks.

Review of first edition:

Wow, I loved this book. Only the fear of dropping my phone in my face for the tenth time, had me putting the book down to sleep. Now I have to endure a book hangover and wait for book two, which I gladly do.

We are dealing with a lycan/dragon hybrid that is bat sh*t crazy. She has a PMS temperament and is a badass b*tch in a fight. I have to warn you though, there's some seriously hot mm that can make your panties combust.

I highly recommend you one-click this awesome book. You won't regret it. 😍

I just absolutely love the story it is full off action , love and surprises along the way and the characters are fantastic Aurora is a strong independent women who knows what she wants and when she gets it she will make sure to protect what is hers Aurora guardians Dimitri the big soft bear and Andre the golden eagle love them to bits and as for her mates she has claimed so far what a hot harem they are can’t wait to see what happens next

I absolutely love the beginning of the book we get to look into what happens in the lead up to Aurora (seraphim) birth from Oberon interfere with the future and to the sad mating ceremony of Anca to the birth off her daughter and the start off Aurora journey. This is a must read series you will fall in love with the characters and the story.

Simply amazing!

This update with added content was everything I didn’t know I needed. Going into this I had some extremely high hopes from reading the series before. Expectations were met and exceeded! I feel like we really got more of a complete story. Also the new cover! Holy cow it really felt like it was Aurora. My favorite thing about this series is Aurora, she is the definition of BA without the alpha hole qualities. She isn’t afraid to get things done and is very protective of those she cares about, and that really speaks to the mama dragon in me! Even if you have already read this, read it again, it is even better! I’m extremely excited for the following books.

This book was really good. I enjoyed how unpredictable Aurora is and how she can go from zero to bloodthirsty to cuddly in seconds. Definitely makes the story very unpredictable. Her guys too are HOT. They are all very protective Aurora and all very open *wink wink. There are no reservations when it comes to sharing so if m/m and m/m/m isn't your thing I would skip this book. But if you don't mind or enjoy it I definitely recommend this book because that is the only reservation that I could see someone having because this book was really good.

Aurora is Back!

Holy smokes. If you read the Aurora Marelup series you know what you are getting into. But this book is wow. The new content is amazing. We got to learn something that is getting done in the background. The new cover is amazing and represents Aurora more. I can't wait to see this Saga blow up as we get new content and the same kick a$$ Aurora. I'm ready for Hunt.

Okay so I read the "old" version of Ascend and I must say, reading this one makes me question my own memory 😅 the reading went so smoothly and everything clicked and made sense, and sometimes I had the idea I missed it in the old version, but it can also be Serenity's amazing way of writing, she pulled me in and it was hard to let go at times like work or sleep 🤣

The beginning makes you crave answers and keeps you in its claws. I highly recommend this revamp !!

I am blown away with this revamp. Right away you can notice the difference. You get a glimp into Oberon right of the start with all the Kings. We get to see what hand they have played in Aurora's life.

You get to see Auroras emotions alot more in this revamp. Especially with Dimitri. Telling him she really feels.

Love that Aurora is still the badass female that we know and love.

This is one of the ABSOLUTE best favorite book I have ever since I became a lover of books and I have only loved read for maybe 20year. To be able to write a love story like this with an amazing story line and a journey to find her mates and take back her what is rightfully hers. This is one book series I would read and reread all the time. I love it

Oh yes this revamp is awesome!!! Oberon and the insight of how Aurora life gets played out was awesome. You get the feel of how Aurora feels more toward her men. No matter what though Aurora is still and will always be one badass chick. Congrats Serenity with this awesome release.

Hook in and hold on for one wild ride!

So many things to digest in book one of Aurora’s journey to the throne. Aurora is by far one of my favorite bad a** main characters. She’s strong, slightly unhinged and loves with her whole heart. The mates that she’s chosen compliment her well, but I sense there is so much more going on we have yet to discover. If skull collections were acceptable, I would have the heads of those who have wronged me too. Aurora’s story is a roller coaster of a ride, fast with crazy loops and turns. Definitely not for those with a weak stomach. Be prepared for mayhem and gore, with plenty of hotness and lust.

I adore Aurora, she’s funny, strong as hell and has major mood swings, like most of us females. Not only that but all her mates are sexy and the steam level in this book and series is off the charts! I’m loving the new cover and the slight tweaks to the book. I wholeheartedly recommend this series and am completely loving this revamp! Serenity Rayne is an amazing writer with great world building, fantastic characters, an incredible storyline and a great sense of humor. Can’t wait to see what upgrades/changes she’s made to the next book.

Wow

The Aurora Marelup Series was amazing the first time around. But what Serenity has added has only made this first book of the series all that much more enjoyable. I can't wait to see what she is doing with the revamp on the rest of the series!

Serenity Rayne has outdone herself!

The first version was amazing but the new content really completes the story. You get to see more of the wonderful world Serenity has made. The new look is breathtaking, there aren't enough great things I can say about this book and how much I love it. It's a brilliant read for everyone interested in RH, a kickass heroine and loads of action. You should devour this and be hungry for more!

This is the most horrific writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar that I’ve seen in a book since using Wattpad when I was barely a teen.

Hello Aurora

It was great to experience this book a second time. I loved seeing the relationships with Aurora and her mates as well as her guardians. Serenity added more details in this go around and were provided more information in the first chapter.

Aurora and her guardians Andre and dimitri are such cute guardians I love seeing how protective they are of Aurora. Aurora is a tough and crazy lycan who changes moods at the drop of a dime. And I loved it, it made her unpredictable which made for a great story. The people she surrounds herself with all care for her just like she does with them.

Can't wait to read book 2

1.5-2 stars.. I'm a little at a loss for where to start and how to say all the things I want to say here...

On the one hand I super respect any reader turned author who puts all the elements that he/she loves into a book let alone a series. I have so much mad love for this author for that...

One the other hand... I will say I am by no means a grammar police and half the time spellcheck can't even correct my ass so there is no judging for me on grammar and spelling.. however, there are multiple points in this book where it switches from 1st/3rd person as well as switching viewpoints like mid chapter in a fragmented way that caused me to have to sometimes reread a whole chapter to find where exactly I got lost. Super frustrating when all you want to do is immerse yourself in a story. Because both of these things happened, it was sometimes hard to even know who's viewpoint I was even in... This happens more toward the last 30% or so. It was like the author was so excited to put the ideas to page it got a little jumbled there? An editor would definitely benefit this story in that way... but I'm not done..

While the plot points of this story are actually strong this story lacks a lot of other things that would really fill it out. It is a super rushed plot as our FMC, Aurora races around trying to gather up some mates so she can get her crown and avenge her family so its missing quite a bit of down time or at least some or any points in which a reader "gets to know" the characters. This makes all the characters lack depth.. every single one seems very superficial, and very less just real. These relationships absolutely 100% lack chemistry.. it was almost robotic the mating system we are presented with... it was so business like and lacked any and all romance whatsoever... and yet they all throwing the love word around like its going out of style. I didn't feel the love let me just say.

I'm all for some insanity in a MC, male or female so I don't think Aurora's bloodthirsty attitude and her.. collection tendencies put me off so much as the fact that she doesn't seem to exhibit any redeeming qualities to go with her murderous tendencies.. so much so that she actually scares and dare I say disgusts her mates at times. This was just confusing to me. It felt like maybe the author was pushing her so hard to be such a bad A that she ended up pushing her off the deep end.

*Contains some mild spoilerage but nothing really plot related*
I didn't want to lead with this.. but it happened in the very beginning of the book and, if I'm being honest, kind of put a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the time. I'm not a huge fan of slut shaming.. but I can usually roll with it especially if whoever is being called a slut is written to be a total pain in the A and may in fact deserve the name. I, however, lean towards female leads and even stories that build up females and feature heroines and even heroes that lead by example in how they treat people. Aurora's "wolf" at the beginning of the story maybe even the first chapter (I didn't go back to look) brutally murdered an innocent prostitute because her guardian paid for this prostitute's services, and the guardian had the audacity to come to her without showering to clean off the girls scent before presenting himself to her.... then she makes light of it.. and even laughs about it on multiple occasions thinking its some kind of joke, saying she had murdered a slut... I'm not sure about anyone else, but I dealt with this the rest of the book and couldn't get over it. I'm not sure what the author's thought process was to this beginning scene in the story but it does not shed any kind of good light on what kind of ruler Aurora would be when she is willing to just brutally murder innocent people for some stupid reasons. I'm not sure why it has offended me as I'm not easily offended but for some reason the whole thing just rubbed me wrong...

I'm not sure what the author has planned for this but I just don't think this series is for me.

Amazing

Loved the new version of this. There is nothing this author has written that I haven't loved. It allows me to get lost in the characters and their adventures and out of my own. This author is and will always be a top favorite of mine. She is phenomenal at what she does. Thank you so much.
