Hunting monsters is my job. Toying with them is just a bonus. Too bad it always ends with them dead.

But when I find four men at my door wanting to kill me for crimes against innocents, my whole world is flipped on its head.

Four hot supes? Check.

Life taking an interesting turn? Duh.

Throw it all in a blender? Why not?

We’re all drawn together in one big whirlwind of a mess. Lies are revealed, truths discovered, and my life will never be the same.

This huntress is about to become the hunted, and these four strangers are my new lifeline.

Just dandy.

Dnf 78%. So far, this book has been 95% sex and 5% plot. I've almost dropped this book a few times before now.

First, when the MC seriously had no problem with one of her new mates having sex with someone else. I'm usually fine with mm in RH, but that's when the mm takes place within the harem. This mate's sex partner doesn't even like the MC, and he certainly isn't one of her mates. I kept waiting for some possessiveness to kick in for her, but it hasn't so far.

Second, when one of the sex scenes involved knife play. The only reason I kept going then was that it turns out it's a magical knife that inflicts pain but not damage. So the pain was brief, there was no blood, and no injuries. I still ended up skimming and waiting for the scene to end though.

And then my breaking point, when the MC and two of her mates started fooling around in their partial shifts with their animal bodies. It seemed like things were about to turn into full blown furry porn, so I peaced out.

There are probably plenty of readers who'd be cool with all this, but it's just not what I like or want to read.

Sav and her family are hunters. Only killing supernaturals who are killing humans and shes good at it. Until after killing a Vampire his ashes lead a supernatural team of hunters to track and hunt her down. Accusing her of killing innocents. Now her eyes are opened and with that comes all the background information about her she never knew. Funnily enough from the very hunters that tried to get her. Tristan, Wesley, Leon and Damien add another level of complications. Ones Sav never saw coming. This book is absolutely amazing. Plenty of laughs (Omg Wesley as a baby and the flaming d**do part had me genuinely in tears laughing. So flaming funny......pun intended there lol) plenty of action (Sav is kickass) and blimey the sex!!! Just wow!! Oh and that cliffhanger ending???? Grrrr now ive got to wait to see what happens next

DNF@48%. There was so much repetition. Something was said on one page, turn to the next and it was said again with a little more info added into it. I get it, he’s not your real dad, how many times does it have to be said? I also didn’t enjoy the guys that much. I thought only two were brothers, but then I think it was said the other two were? I’m not sure. It was confusing. I really liked the premise, it has a lot of potential. But I won’t be reading anymore of this series.

Not enough plot & cardboard characters. In need of some editing due to unnecessary repetition. Felt like the FMC should’ve been a nymph with fighting skills. The only kitsune thing this vixen had apart from her name was the multiple tails. Perhaps the series gets more exciting in the next book idk. I’m not interested enough & I wouldn’t recommend this book.

Wow!

I can honestly say I was not expecting that! This book was a breath of fresh air and I need more now! That cliffhanger was a doozy! I loved all these characters and the FMC was straight hardcore. She was not ashamed at all with her sexuality! I loved how much humor was put into this along with a strong storyline.

This may have been the first book I've read from this author but it sure won't be the last. This was well written with very few errors. Can't wait to see what book 2 has in store!

This is a fab hot and sexy paranormal read! With a badass female lead and her four super hot guys, Two hot angel/werewolf hybrids, one broody and one sweet, A wicked demon-born with a taste for darker play, and a fiery being that is quite the fun playmate, this will have You on the edge of your seat and probably needing a cold shower with it’s super hot sexy scenes! Great storyline with some intriguing twists!

Just not my thing!

Sorry but not happy with one of the harem having sex with another man and not involving the heroine!!....The other bloke was gay so not at all interested in women!! Supposedly mates but one of her “mates” finding it totally ok to have sex with someone else!! Totally cheating in my opinion!!!

Really getting into this story!

This book drew me in immediately. There's action from the very first chapter.

Despite one comment saying that there were way too many spicy scenes, I didn't find it to be too bad. Lately, I've preferred books with a lot more plot and a little less "getting it on," so that comment nearly dissuaded me from diving into this series for the moment. Being 'intimate' definitely happens a LOT in the book, but it's also mostly explained by Savage nature of being a kitsune. So, be warned that the characters think of screwing around very, very frequently in the book, but it doesn't necessarily HAPPEN a lot. (I counted - it happens 8 times in this book, and off page twice.) If you only like it when the book talks about the mates being together and not with anyone outside the group, well... it may happen a couple of times. There's no cheating, though!

That all being said, I'm enjoying the plot so far! I'm already suspecting one particular thing, and I'm eager to see how it goes down. Savage is finding her new place in the world. There's so much she didn't and still doesn't know. The author has set a few things up that I'm excited to read about! The cliffhanger was fabulous, as well. I'm about to dive right into book #2! (After all, sleep is overrated!)

**Note: This book is m/mfmmm. One of the males has a relationship with another male outside of the harem.

Savage is book one in the Institute of Supernaturals series. It can a great introduction to the character and definitely hooked me on the characters' story. It has a cliffhanger that had me picking up book two right away. Sav is a strong, kick butt character. She been trained to hunt bad guys and does a great job at it. She loves sex and it plays a big part of who she is. When four supernatural guys (Tristan, Damien, Wesley, and Leon) walk into her life, her life get turned upside down.
Tristan, Damien, Wesley, and Leon all bring different things to the table. She mates with all of them by accident. It's a little bumpy for them but they all have great chemistry. I loved the banter between characters, it had me laughing at times. Tristan has a relationship with Dominic and I didn't like that Sav said he could continue that, that part didn't sit well with me but I loved everything else about this story.

This book is filled with steamy goodness. This is definitely a fast burn novel.

I like how the author added some new creature features that we don't really see in a lot of books. This book was very unique and different and had just a little bit of comedy thrown in, this book did also have a little bit of action as well but mostly focused on the building of the sexual connection between the characters while also focusing on trying to figure out what Sav could really do with her gifts.

If you like steamy erotic novels this book is for you.

The concept here is interesting, a kitsune being raised as a huntress, who hunts supernaturals, without any knowledge of her own supernatural abilities. I did try, but the majority of the first book was pretty much sex and not enough plot. The MMCs here seem to have a similar main drive and frankly, I could not get into the story. No judgement here, but this is simply not for me. Hope other readers enjoy it.

Loved it!!

Finally a book where the female lead is comfortable with her sexuality and isn’t viewed as promiscuous or slutty!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼As a series opener, this was full of action, drama, betrayal, with PLENTY of steam and I loved it. The author did a fantastic job creating her characters and the world they live in. The bigger plot of Savage’s family and how she came to be living with the Harlow’s will surely be expanded on in the next book. The execution was spot on and sucked me in on the first chapter. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I don't like how the FMC's portrayed. I'm all for the promiscuity as the usual slut-shaming or virginal FMC storylines are so tiring. However, she fully admits to having no girl friends because she hits on their guys. She can clearly pick and choose as the opening scene involves her turning a guy down so this is just frustrating and makes her immediately unlikable. Also, the relationship outside of the harem is a no go for me. I love MM action in the harems but this just seems to cheapen/invalidate the importance of the mating bond.

Currently, I've read two of Cluney's series- this one and her Corviticus Academy series. Right now, I would say Corviticus is holding a little stronger, but Institute of Supernaturals definitely has a lot of potential!

What I liked most about IoS is that the FMC is a kitsune because I've found a few of different incarnations of this magical creature throughout my experience with the RH world, but it's not one of the overly saturated supes. Since the FMC doesn't start the book knowing what she really is, there's a bit of a learning gap to catch up on. She has to understand that supes and their world are more complex than she'd known before. So, a lot of our knowledge on the supes in Cluney's new world is distributed through the FMC's eyes and POV. This limits us, but it also helps us because we don't feel like we're getting dealt repeated information when she learns something new.

Along with a kitsune, we also have a demon born, phoenix, and two wolves with a special twist that I honestly haven't seen before. Each of Cluney's men have some kind of interesting, silly, or alluring twist to their supe lineages that I found original and another bonus of digging into this series starter. She's definitely not afraid to try something original, and I'm coming to recognize that I'll also find some silly reasons to laugh whenever I pick up one of her books, which is also a nice refresher in the midst of all the bully and dark RH coming out lately (though don't get me wrong, I enjoy those TOO).

Here's where I think we need a little tweaking. One of the aspects of Cluney's kitsune is a very active libido. For a series starter, I felt like the ratio of content was slipping into more s*x than plot, and I really wanted more of the latter. I think the story is an interesting premise, and I really wanted some more time with the characters where we were learning about them, their world, and what was going on with Savage. Other than that, I do wonder if the Institute itself will play a larger role in future installments. For now, the only residents at the institute that we meet are Savage's guys, the butler, and the owner (the guys' adoptive "father" and caregiver). I'd like to get a better idea of how the institute works, who really goes there, and see more characters mixed in. I think the name might make it seem like the series has a strong academy footing, but it's not quite that type of environment as far as book one goes.

Overall, I would definitely check out book two, and I'd love to see it rise to the occasion and grow from where book one started the series. The premise is interesting, the supers are original, and the comic relief truly makes me laugh.

Good story with some possible triggers

This is a really interesting story but I did have some issues with it. First, it's almost all sex. Don't get me wrong, I like sexy books as much as the next girl. But the characters could barely make it a single chapter without ripping their clothes off. This was blamed on her kitsune nature being owepurally horny, but it really just felt contrived.

I was really bothered by Tristan's relationship with Dominic. I love MM in reverse harems but Dominic wasn't ever part of the harem so it felt like cheating. It just really didn't sit right with me.

There were some grammatical errors but it's not the worst I've seen in that respect. I found the story itself to be really interesting. Sav is a cool character and her backstory is different. Overall, I'm giving this 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4) and I do recommend it.

Disappointed

At 26% into the book, Red Flag, had to make at least one of the guys bi sexual. I don’t remember any warnings of such things in the description. If I had never would have downloaded it. If you don’t mind that and the book containing mostly sex scenes, luckily no descriptions of the bi one with another dude, other then a scene where 2 in the females vag. Written in the guys and heroines viewpoint. Not the story I thought it would be. Wouldn’t recommend.

Not going to rate because I think I'm just in a funk. Something was off about the whole thing and I should have loved it. I wasn't going to read book 2 until I got to that cliffhanger ending.
Some people will not like a lot of the sex. DP and knotting feature. There's sex in partially shifted states

I absolutely loved Institute of Supernaturals: Savage. Especially the main MC Sav who is a hunter and had no clue she was a supernatural herself until she runs in to four men at her door. I cannot wait for book 2.

Oooh a cliffie.

Cool story, bro. Sav is certainly an interesting character and I liked her take no $hit attitude. Fast burn, insta-love and melt the kindle sexy, but the premise of the book and unanswered questions kept me turning the pages. Will def read the next one.

Good potential. Very mild spoilers. Nothing that takes away from reading.

This book had quite a few typos and some contradictions that made the story a little confusing and aggravating. I can’t stand when I read something that constantly contradicts what’s already been laid out.
Some examples:

- When Sav overheard her dad and brother, she mentioned slumping to the floor, yet gripping the beam in the next sentence. You can’t do that from the floor.
- Sav can see auras and told us what the four supernaturals were in the beginning, yet she turned around and asked them what they were as if she didn’t know.
- She literally said that her and her “brother” Jackson, flirted with each other and that it was so hard for her not to screw him, justified that it was okay to feel that way, because they weren’t actually related. Yet, as far as she knew, they were. They were cousins. Now. She’s singing a different tune about how he’s always looked at her as a sister. Will always love and protect her. Who the hell flirts with their sister? Too many contradictions.

Some of this book has super jumpy scenes.
Example:

- Going from eating pizza to suddenly using magic without any kind of break or explanation. Makes the story confusing.

Uhm. The soaring and the anal thing, totally gross. Makes zero sense. Nobody would respond after being violated/assaulted like Sav did.

The POV switching.

- So stupid. We never get anything good with the harems POV. Just what they are thinking or feeling very briefly. We don’t get their perspective for intimate scenes, training, or anything else. It’s bland. Until the end of the book, even that is really bland.

I’m also annoyed that this entire book took place over the course of a few days. Not even a week. It’s already proven that the mate bond isn’t anything like what it’s supposed to be, so I don’t understand how things moved so fast.

Dominic. Ugh.

- I don’t like him, I don’t trust him, he’s way too shady. I also find it weird that the four are now Savage’s mates, but she doesn’t care of one of them screws people outside of the harem? That’s so weird. 11 vamps. Dominic said 6.
It’s all shady and very obvious that he’s done something to get rid of her out of jealousy.

There were a lot of part of this book that were funny after what happened to Wesley, but outside of that, I didn’t find anything else humorous.
The story has potential and I hope the second one is better.

Institute of Supernaturals: Savage: A fated mates reverse harem romance Kindle Edition

by J.E. Cluney

Thank you to the author for an electronic advanced reviewer's copy (eARC). I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
Another great RH from the author. This time, we focus on Savage, a former supe Huntress who finds herself to be on the supes after an encounter with Leon, Damien, Wesley and Tristan. After returning home to her Hunter family, she is rescued by the three men and one baby.
Ms. Cluney has a real talent for sly humor and outrageous situations. Laughter is a key selling point with her books. Savage is an amazing example of this. She is both snarky and adorable. One moment she can be having smexy time with one of her men and the next her inner monologue is filled with snark.
Good humor and better sex propel the mystery further. Make no mistake, this is a hot-fast-burn of a story. Thermite hot. Savage is a fully liberated female who enjoys her body and enjoys sex. Of course, there is some serious boundaries – werewolf sex is all I have to say here.
The sexual encounters don't really move the story along and lots of threads are waving about, waiting to be tied off.
But behind the many sexual encounters, there is a constant hum of danger and tension. It doesn't pay off until about 90% of the way in to the book.
Fun and sexy, but more pure erotica for most of the story. While it was normally well-done, there was just an overload of sex and I ended up just skimming many of the more descriptive encounters.
Ms. Cluney has great talent once we move into the main portion of the story.

I’m not sure how I missed this book series! So far Savage is hot and action packed. Some people feel it is too sexual, but I’m not sure what they were expecting when it is labeled as fast burn and insta mates. It fits the category well. Savage is a huntress who grew up thinking she was human, but funds out after an encounter that she is a rare supe. She accepts this quite well and wants to learn everything. She is a little hesitant about the bonded mates part, but she eventually grows into that as well. Savage is so use to being independent that she doesn’t want them to take her freedom, but learns that they do not plan or want to. Damien is my fav with his darkness, yet cuddly persona. I did struggle a little with Tristian continuing his relationship with Dominic since he is separate from the bonded mates. It is strange that Tristian even wants to as well. Sav doesn’t seem to have a problem with it though so I let it go. I wonder though how much more it will continue with Don’s weird behavior at the end. Some things definitely did not add up at the end and it makes you question Dominic and Mr Oxley. Curious to see how things continue to play out at the house and with the council. Big cliffhanger, but the second book is already out so not much to wait on! Multiple POVs. May be some MM in future books. High steam and heat with some bondage play, knotting and half shifted forms sexy times. It is pretty hilarious with quite a few laugh out loud moments. Definitely excited to continue this series.

DNF 85%

I tried pushing through this book but I just couldn’t enjoy it. My biggest thing is the plot. Nothing happened but sec. Which is fine if that’s the kind of book you want to read, I however wanted some plot with my smut. Or at least some building of the relationships. I just don’t think that happened. Yes they we’re screwing constantly but it didn’t feel like a real relationship: hell the FMC kept calling herself and the guys fuck buddies and telling everyone they can screw other people for all she cares. Which leads me to the main character. I didn’t like her, at all. She was CONSTANTLY telling the reader and anyone else who would listen what a badass bitch she was and that she could kick anyone’s ass. Constantly. To me a strong character shouldn’t have to put this into words over and over. As a reader we should recognize that by how the character is portrayed, not be told how we should perceive her. All she talked about and thought about was sex. There was no substance to her. She even mentioned how she wanted to sneak into her brothers room to screw him. Yes she was adopted but since the age of 3 she’d grown up with him as her brother. I couldn’t get over her sex drive. Don’t get me wrong I have a healthy one but hers was the only characteristic about her. She even fucked the guys she was going to kill: known murderers but hey she’s horny so… there were so many things about her I didn’t care for. I would have however kept reading the book of there was anything remotely interesting happening other then fucking.

Sav 'Savage' was raised to be a Huntress of Supernatural beings. She is kicka*s at her job and enjoys ridding the world of evil supes who prey on the innocent, while also filling her need for dangerous sex, until she comes face to face with four of the hottest supes she has ever seen. Tristian, Damien, Leon, and Wes had no idea what they were in for when they came upon Sav the Huntress, but saving her instead of killing her was definitely not what they thought their night would turn into. It seems many secrets were being kept from Sav, and in order to find out the truth, she needs to trust the four men, who were trying to kill her and not only is she trusting them with her safety, but with her need for continuous sex, they are willing to provide it for her, but little did they all know it would come with a bond, a bond, that would link them all and actually make them family in a true way that they each desired and opening them up to each other in ways that show they really are bonding and will do anything to protect her.

Usually a first book in a series is a slow burn...a building block of sorts.
WELL......Savage was the opposite. She comes out strong and sassy (which I truly love) and meets four men/sups who are some amazing characters. Okay, well is my least favorite but he still have a lot of interesting qualities.
We get a decent back story for Savage and the men who become a huge part of her story.
Okay, I know you already know there is tons of sex, after all that was probably the most mentioned part in reviews. Yet there is more than just Sav's over active libido.

The author even through in a side storyline with Tristan and Dominic but I'm thinking there is much more going on in the background with Dominic than is presented. I guess we'll just have to continue reading to see if I'm right.
And of course we have to end with a BANG! Cliffhanger in other words. Well duh~ it is a series after all. So for me this book has a lot to offer up. A badass heroine with an over active libido, four sexy supernatural men and mysteries to be solved with more to come. Count me in!

Pure. Entertainment.

To me, these crazy, paranormal, RH, institute/academy romances are a dime a dozen.

But y'all.

This book was SO unique. The story may have been somewhat cookie cutter, but the details were so dang funny! OMG, from the horny Sav, to what happens to Wes, the diapers, the flaming you-know-what. I seriously cracked up through half this book. And the steamy bits? Good grief, some kinky stuff went down but it was...strangely erotic and interesting lol

𝕊𝕒𝕧𝕒𝕘𝕖 by J.E. Cluney was a breath of fresh air and a fun read. Sexy, steamy, hilarious, with four hot guys (and a gay butler that has a thing with one of the guys....I feel ehhh about that situation) and a kick but heroine.
