Colt Women are nothing but a pain in the behind. Ever since my ex left without so much as a see you later, Cowboy, I’ve steered clear of relationships and all the unnecessary drama they bring.
But when a sexy little songstress saunters into my honky-tonk hoping to sing on my stage, I’m tempted to let her strum more than just my heartstrings.
Natalie Broken and beat down, I left home and headed to Nashville with not much more than my songbook and guitar. Music City, USA, will make all my dreams come true. Love wasn’t on my to-do list, but this smooth-talking cowboy with his to-die-for Tennessee twang has my heartstrings singing.
Just when I think he’s the one, the queen of country radio, aka his ex, shows up with only one thing on her mind—him.
If you’re in love with steamy instalove and like your alpha males to have a sexy sense of humor, then this story is for you.
No cliffhangers. No cheating. One very happy ever after.
Cora York adores steamy stories about sassy women and the sexy men who push them to their limits. But, these days, thanks to her job as a full-time domestic goddess and kid-chauffeur, she no longer has the luxury of sitting down to read full-length romance novels. To get her fix, she created Quick Reads for Fast Lives--all the romance in a fraction of the time.

4.5 Stars For being a shorter story this one sure packed a punch. You really got to know both the characters. They were both good, down to earth people who had their reasons for closing off their hearts. Nattie was ready sooner than Colt was and it took a visit from his ex to make him realize how much he truly loved Nattie. I am usually not a fan of stories with ex drama in it but it just fit in this story. It also helped that Colt didn’t fall for her bs. This was a really sweet story with a very sexy cover!
Safety and Spoilers Safe. No om drama. Om drama, H’s ex shows up drunk trying to get him back and makes a bit of a scene. h misinterprets the situation but it is resolved quickly. Ex calls during epilogue asking for help and the couple nicely help her. I would have told her to take a hike, lol. H has been celibate for a little while and h has only had one experience. There is brief mentions about how h’s father used to hit her, nothing graphic. No sexual abuse.
I read the books out of order, I read Shattered first. Doesn't matter though because this book was awesome in any order! Colt and Natalie are really great characters. I like how Natalie is strong and mature for her age. I like how she knows what she wants and doesn't let anyone deter her.
I actually liked the book for much of its short length until it turned into crazy-sauce deluxe...ugh, and suddenly there's this very juvenile dialogue happening that I could not stand.
An older cowboy dude who can't sing a lick but can strum a mean guitar runs this bar, not his family's ranch.
This bar is called, The Strangled Cat...well, because his Mom told him to stop singing once because it sounded like he was strangling cats...haha!
Anyway, this young woman, 19yrs old strolls into his honky-tonk and he can’t help but get flashes of the past once he sees the guitar strung over her shoulder.
See, he found a young female country singer years ago, who left him in the dust and broke his heart.
Of course, she happens to be the one female Country artist the female admires, but oh well. Everything was going great, especially between the two MCs...and then right toward the end, the dreaded scene where the Ex returns and she does nothing but stir up trouble.
Oh, our two MCs finally gain a collective brain and end up having an HEA with a wedding after her career could take off, if she wants...she decides she wants a chance with her man, instead...Fame & Fortune can wait. And, the Ex is the next female MC in Book 2, so, yay...
Steamy, sweet country goodness. Colt and Nattie are perfect together. There is an age difference (15 years) but honestly I forgot about that as I dove into the book. It is instalove with a little push back from the H ( he’s got a guarded heart) but overall fantastic. The ending came a little suddenly and both epilogues were three months down from the ending.
Sometimes you need a book that just reminds you love is real and somethings are meant to be... this book is that. While a quick read it has all the feels as well as a bit of drama but in the end it is about love and remembering no one is too broken.
