Mistletoe & Murder

Rate this book
Alec Stratman comes home to Twin Oaks, Virginia, after his Army retirement to contemplate his reentry into civilian life. Instead he’s greeted with the murder of his beloved Great-Aunt Heloise.

For Isabella Montoya, the loss of Heloise Stratman Thatcher goes beyond the end of a job. Heloise had encouraged Isabella to follow her dreams and helped fund her studies. Now, accused of her mentor’s murder, Isabella is scrambling to prove her innocence.

Since his great-aunt had written glowing letters about Isabella, Alec is unwilling to believe the police’s suspicion of the former housekeeper. Instead, he works to help clear her name.

Will Isabella and Alec be able to navigate the secrets that threaten to derail their budding romance and uncover the truth about Heloise’s death before the killer strikes again?

A bit predictable in some ways, but surprising in others. A short murder mystery set just before Christmas.

This reminds me of an Agatha Christie mystery. It has all the elements of a good who done it:
A deceased rich lady with lots of relatives who are in line to inherit. A nephew who is favored. A suspicious death and did Aunt Heloise really die of natural causes? Everyone is a suspect except Alec who was in the service at the time of her death.
With lots of twists and turns, this is a great puzzle to figure out in a cozy Christmas setting.
Recommended for fans of old school mysteries, with a little romance included.

Worth the read, Christmas books haven't hit the right notes this year idk if it's the books themselves or me but they seem to come up missing the spectacular factor.

Easy read with lots of characters because it is a mystery. A little bit of a twist for the ending. Not really too exciting.
