It's two o'clock in the morning in the Arabian Gulf. Tom Grifford, commander of the Royal Navy frigate HMS Carlisle, receives a phone call telling him his wife Jaine has been abducted.
Surrendering command of Carlisle, Tom returns home to find his family in uproar and a police investigation led by a detective who refuses to examine the evidence that could identify the prime suspect.

Aware that the longer it takes to find his wife, the greater the chance that she will never be found, Tom plunges headlong into his own investigation. Aided by a group of Jaine's colleagues, each with his own reason to find her, Tom is forced to draw on every ounce of his self-belief and skill as a seaman.

Tested as never before, Tom's search takes him inside the criminal mind of Jaine's abductor and leads him on a terrifying journey to one of the most inhospitable areas of ocean in the world...

I am sorry I really wanted to like this book but in the first few pages I came across so many incongruities and things that were counter to every experience I have after 25 plus years in the Royal Navy that I just could not go on. No matter how good the mystery might be I am afraid the initial impression was that the author did not know what he was talking about. Shame, I like the concept.
