We’re Gonna Die Ain't We Danny

Small farmers and ranchers south, southeast of the small railroad town of Odessa Texas was having a hard time making a living. Their crops were devastated by roaming wild cattle.
Hundreds, thousands of Texas Longhorns would converge on a man’s crops and by sunup the next day nothing was left. Something had to be done or they would have to move off and leave their homes. No one could survive.
At last word was picked up in the largest saloon in Odessa that the Eddy- Bissell Livestock Company in southeastern New Mexico would buy all cattle brought to their ranch.
Eighteen men and five boys’ ages eleven to sixteen years old built a five acre corral. It was built strong out of mesquite limbs and tree trunks. The barbwire gate was sixteen feet wide with outreaching arms to funnel the cattle thru and into that corral. Feed had to be brought in first to feed all cattle until time for the drive. It was build straddling a small stream so water wouldn’t have to be hauled in. It took two months rounding up just over twenty five hundred head of longhorns. Now to start that long cattle drive two hundred miles west to Eddy, New Mexico and the Eddy-Bissell Livestock Company.

Never read a Shorty Thompson story that wasn't entertaining and this one is a very heartwarming tribute to law enforcement in general. Shorty goes above, and beyond in his efforts to bring justice to those who have no respect for the law, or those persons they destroy.

Definitely another five star masterpiece by one of the most prolific western writers of all times. I have read, and enjoyed, all of the Shorty Thompson series, which only gets better with each new developing adventure! This outstanding descriptive rendition of how our old American West was probably tamed is certainly one of the Author's very best, thus far.
Shorty, and his colleagues, pulls no punches in bringing justice to those responsible for ongoing death and destruction throughout the area. Outstanding storylines that successfully touches anyone's heartstrings immediately, and the character selections were perfectly selected for their commanding assignments from beginning to end.
I definitely recommend this outstanding western masterpiece to all readers, but especially to you western folklore addicted fanatics. This is a fast moving rendition of truly entertaining revelations of realistically western adventures from beginning to end. Even you non-western enthusiasts will find this compassionate series of unending adventures fulfilling and entertaining revelations of old western folklore adventures!😄

THE LONG HORN RUSTLERS

I always enjoy reading about U.S.Marshal Shorty Thompson and his assignments. People are always wiring for help and as soon as Shorty is finished, he and Dunnie are on the trail to another "hot mess."
The author has introduced a "Cowboy Dictionary" which I think is funny, mainly because there are persons who speak that same way today. Its hard to understand what they are saying mostly because of dropping those vowels and slipping and slidding those words with a heavy drawl..oh such is life. Just have to really concentrate on your conversations.😅😄
So we all say ride easy Shorty and Dunnie.😎

U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson - We're Gonna Die Ain't We Danny: Tales of the

If you like fast action, hair raising outlaws, and determined lawman that just will not quit until the guilty are brought to justice, then this is the book for you. Shorty caught a case about some bad men that would steal herds of cattle from the farmers and ranchers that rounded them up to keep the cattle from eating their crops. Sometimes things that look so easy, just might get you killed, and busy might get the very last man a crook ever wants to avoid, a U.S.Marshal. Great Read !
