OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

One star because I cannot give 0. It is difficult to find the words to express the degree of disappointment and sadness this book has provoked. To say that it is useless, would be an understatement. To think that I paid money for it, anticipated it, and dragged it around BC & the Rockies with me, skimming the pages throughout, always hoping to find something, anything useful; forever disappointed and angry. It is almost impressive how empty of information this book is.
If this is what the Lonely Planet brand has come to - a brand many a traveler has come to trust and rely on, as I have - then all I can say is R.I.P.

There were a lot of pages I didn’t read, unfortunately BUT the ones I did were jammed pack of good suggestions. Where to eat, which routes to take.. it got me very excited for my holiday!

A handy and useful Lonely Planet book for touring Western Canada. In typicaly Lonely Planet style, this book highlights some of the best sights, itineraries, restaurants and hotels that you will find in BC and the Canadian Rockies. It's a reasonable size to take on a trip and includes some great highlights and suggestions.

This is a great travel guide. In the e-book, there were not sufficient hyperlinks to move quickly to othe places I wanted to read. This was to prepare for a not-going-to-happen this year trip to Canada, (look for my next review of "Japan" and "Thailand")

I'm not sure what has happened to Lonely Planet, but this guide is useless. The older but very thorough Moon guide is much better. Hard do not recommend.

Good thing I bought this a few days before we flew out since I had not done any research on the area before we showed up. I did get quite a few good hotel and restaurant recommendations from it. Proved to be useful!

Informatief en soms grappig geschreven. Bijna alle informatie had ik echter al online gevonden.

Let's go camping!

This was a good book on some local explorations we wish to do!

Would recommend to learn the regions and the highlights of each!
