How do you wear a kilt, kiss a stranger, prevent a hangover, get out of a sinking car, predict the weather, play croquet, overtake a racing car, brew a great beer, repair a broken tooth, dive for pearls, and serve tea the Japanese way? This new and expanded edition, The Bigger Book of Everything, explains everything you could possibly need to know how to do and more.
OUR STORY A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.
You have to zoom in to read everything, but this book has a lot of information I didn’t even think about needing! Very fascinating. You can learn how to deliver a baby, how to greet people in other countries, how to greet an alien and a bunch more. Very fun read.
While lots of this information was fun to read, it could have used another round of editing for grammar, spelling, and formatting. There are errors on pages 164 and 220 for sure, and likely others I didn’t note.
