Firefly Junction meets Port Danby as Lola and Lacey take a trip to the Cider Ridge Inn in Double Trouble.
Sunni Taylor is finally going to meet Lola Button, the quirky antique dealer who sold her some rather unusual old photos of Cider Ridge Inn. When Lola arrives with her best friend, Lacey Pinkerton, Sunni and Lacey find they have a lot in common.
When Sunni's friend, Raine, is invited to attend a wiccan ceremony celebrating the Autumnal Equinox, the four women decide it would be fun and find themselves traipsing through the forest to attend the Mabon Apple Harvest Rite. Amidst the incense and incantations, a shocking discovery is made. A dead body. Sunni and her new sleuthing partner, Lacey, immediately jump into action. The two women are ready to pool their skills and find the killer.
I think I am growing tired of this series. The fact that Sunni is allowed to visit crime scenes bugs me, even though I do realize it is fiction! The interaction between Sunni and Lacey was annoying - how many times can you mention that you are on the same page with someone? The biggest issue for me was editing errors. That is hard to overlook.
When newly made friends (Lola and Lacey) from California come to Firefly Junction to check out the antique markets, Sunni finds a kindred spirit in Lacey - who loves to solve mysteries and also has a hunky detective boyfriend! Sunni's friend Raine has invited her friends to attend an Autumn Equinox Wiccan ritual, and unfortunately, when they find the head witch deceased, Sunni and Lacey get down to business, doing what they love best - solving crimes, much to Detective Jackson's chagrin!
Sunni is about to have guests, and she is more than happy to finally get to meet Lola from Port Danby, the antique dealer who sold her some old pictures of her house complete with a mystery! Along with Lola, Lacey Pink Pinkerton is also going to visit.
Once they get there, it is instant affinity between Lacey and Sunni as they have a few key things they share-they both have boyfriends that are Detectives, and they both have been known to help solve murder cases! On top of this they both have gotten lectures from their boyfriends on not being careful.
After meeting the rest of the gang, they decide to go to an antique show, and while there are invited to an Autumn Solstice meeting at midnight, which they do. Something is up and everyone is waiting for the High Priestess to show up so they can start the ceremony. What they don't realize is she is already there!
Sunni and Lacey decide to solve a murder and Det Jackson, Sunni's boyfriend, warns her not to do anything crazy and also gives Sunni and Lacey the nickname-Double Trouble.
One thing I have to mention is that Edward is fascinated by Lacey! Sunni can't believe it, Edward actually interested in someone! Although Edward is warned to be on his best behavior, he can't help causing a few things to happen while Raine yet again tries to seek out the Ghost of The Cider Ridge Inn.
You have to read this book, I loved it! There are a lot of things that happen. which Sunni and Lacey have to put their heads together to figure out, and there was a lot of angst between some of the characters! I also loved how all the pets, have their own little roles, and Lacey goes home wanting goats!
I gave this book 5 stars and hope to see more of the Firefly Junction and Port Danby characters visit again!
I usually enjoy reading Firefly Junction but this one was little hard to get through as it was pretty obvious “whodunit”! I also found the interaction between Lacy and Sunni was no realistic conversations and seemed forced. However it will not deter me from looking at the next Firefly installment.
I have really enjoyed the other books in the series but this one was different. I didn't go with the idea that it was so fun to solve murders. That just made them giggly. The book didn't further the ghost aspect or sunni's relationship.
It wasn’t necessarily bad, but I guessed the killer right away. Also, the detective let her do too many things that would never be allowed in real life, made it kind of annoying.
For those of you who are fans of London Lovett and her Cozy Mystery series you are in for a treat with “Double Trouble.” This gem of a read joins two of my favorite murder solving characters from two different series, Sunni from Firefly Junction and Lacey from Port Danby.
Lacey and Lola met Sunni online and immediately felt a connection. So, Lola decided to bring Lacey with her to Firefly Junction to meet Sunni and hunt for antiques. Of course during there visit the topic of Edward the Ghost comes up and there is a murder of a Wiccan Priestess. Lacey the nose and Sunni the reporter team up to solve the case unsurprising to Detective Jackson. Together, we see the two sleuths in action.
This was a fun read with a surprising outcome. There are plenty of suspects, misguided clues as well as intrigue. I wish there had been a bit more action and more of an appearance from Detective Jackson. However, in the end he is not far away. If you are a fan of both these series you will enjoy this read. I just hope that there will be more mysteries teaming Lacey and Sunni together.
If you are a died hard mystery aficionado (this includes those cozy readers) who want their mysteries to be difficult to solve, this series may not be for you. I knew fairly early who the culprit was (as in most of this series and the Port Danby series) however that isnt the reason to read these. This, for me, is a out thencharacters, who they are, their relationships, the dialogue...and then the mystery. This book didnt disappoint. Lovett combined characters from two of her series - the ladies from Port Danby came to Firefly Junction - one of my favorite things from an author with different series (thank you London!!). Such fun, such antics! An enjoyable read even though you know "whodunnit" pretty early.. the mystery for me was whether or not Edward would show himself.... Fun read and I realized I have to catch up on the Port Danby series...things have happened I havent read about yet.
Aha! Some new (to me) individuals are visiting Sunni in Firefly Junction and, well, they both cause a problem or two for Sunni and liven up her week when she meets a kindred sleuthing spirit. I mean that metaphorically. There's still only the one arrogant (but I like him anyway) ghost hanging around the inn.
Lacey is the kindred soul Sunni didn't know she had. They both have an eye (or a nose, in Lacey's case) for following clues and finding information. You can imagine their delight when a dead body pops up (not literally) while they're out and about.
A little death, more than a little admiration for Jax's stellar good looks (Sunni's a lucky lady in that regard), a trip or two to the local sandwich shop, a séance, and a besotted ghost. Firefly Junction is still fun and probably a little dangerous to live in, but I'm liking my time spent here.
Continue to enjoy the series, but did not care for the new characters (from Port Danby ) that much. I am more interested in the Firefly Junction stories. I want to reiterate that I loved the story.
I am a fan of Firefly Junction and Port Danbury so I thoroughly enjoyed the crossiver and hope it happens a fan Sunni and Lacey are perfect together!!!!
This is a good series. Friends from Port Danby join in the sleuthing fun. The death of Wiccan high priestess twin. Same fun characters with new introductions. Plus the beloved dogs and ghost.
London Lovett seamlessly introduces the characters from a different but likely just as enjoyable series. But Port Danny will never have a ghost as charming as Edward!
I believe this is the best book of the series! Combine the quirky characters from the Port Danby series with the quirky characters from Firefly Junction and you have a winner. Great dialogue and a well crafted story add to the mix. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily providing an honest review. And, as soon as this was released I purchased another copy.
I received an advanced readers copy of this book for an honest review. I really love ctosdovers. This one was great. Lacey and Sunni are like twins separated at birth. They think exactly alike and had a great time solving a murdet.
I loved this book, just like I’ve loved all the other books in this series. The only thing I didn’t like was that Edward was hardly present in this book. He is by far one of my favorite characters in these books, and I really hope we see Sunni solve his mystery.
Another wonderful book. This time Sunni teams up with an internet friend to sold yet another murder. I'm enjoying the blooming relationship between Sunni and Jackson. I'm hoping in the next book we see more of Edward.
